This song and music video is a complex, sophisticated production. The music video might be classified as video art. It cannot be interpreted universally. It means different things to different people. That is good art, in my opinion. The musicianship is excellent in this song. The lead guitar work is even more complex than that in Living Colour, and that is saying something. The bass work is killer, and the drum work is very polished, and the transitions are well-timed, and well-executed. Primus performs like a Swiss or Japanese timepiece, made with the best parts and materials.

Primus, and Les Claypool (bass), songs are written as 'stories of Americana': often blue collar and back-woods... Brilliant artists...
If you're digging his playing, Les' version of "The Awakening" is amazing: a showcase...
    Cheers! You guys are great!

"When The Toys Go Winding Down," "Southbound Pachyderm," "DMV," "Mr. Krinkle," "Fish On," "Jilly's On Smack," and from there you could extend that world to include Les Claypool's Holy Mackerel, The Frog Brigade, Colonel Claypool's Bucket Of Bernie Brains, Oysterhead, and The Lennon/Claypool Delirium, also Gabby LaLa! You have opened a big can of musical WHOOP-ASS!

Primus is never meant to be taken seriously. They're very talented, but avant-garde...completely off-the-wall. You need to check out "Jerry Was a Racecar Driver." It's still crazy, but a little more accessible. The bass riff is iconic.

This video kills me every time and has ever since I first saw it, Les' goofy acting is too funny! And how the lyrics end up are hilarious too ... talking about the dead guy's rancid breath and then "kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat".

The song is obviously written in the third person. The lead singer and basis Les claypool is a character. Personally I like his song Jerry was a race car driver,. Or Tommy the cat. I think those songs really illustrate how well he plays bass. One of his biggest influences with Bootsy Collins.

Primus - Tommy the Cat and Jerry Was A Racecar Driver are 2 of their huge hits.
Les Claypool is the bassist and singer, and is a really nice guy. I got to meet him once years ago back when we owned a bar here in New Orleans. He was in town with a side project, Flying Frog Brigade. He plays fretless bass on most of these songs, which is a big reason (along with some other big fretless players), why I decided to play strictly fretless bass myself - thing is, I'm nowhere NEAR as good as he is 😂

Just a little dark maybe? According to Wikipedia: "" is a song by the American rock band Primus and is the first single from the 1993 album . The lyrics are written from the point of view of a blue-collar man, Aloysius Devandander "Mud" Abercrombie, who has killed his friend after an argument and is now trying to bury him. The song samples the line "Where are you goin' city boy?" from the film Deliverance.
