Chaku Chaku is a method of conducting one-piece flow in a cell, which basically means that you can carry a part directly from one machine to the next without stopping to unload the part.
This is made possible because the machines unload parts automatically, so the operators can focus on moving the parts around the cell, saving time and motion.
▶ Let's break down how Chaku Chaku works.
The first machine in the processing sequence automatically ejects a part as soon as its cycle is completed.
The operator then takes the part to the next machine in the sequence, which has just finished cycling and ejected its part.
The operator loads the new part, starts the machine, and takes the ejected part to the next machine, which has just finished cycling and ejected its part.
This goes on and on around the cell.
The term "Chaku Chaku" literally means "load-load" in Japanese.
▶ So, what are the benefits of Chaku Chaku?
Well, it saves time and motion because you don't have to stop and unload the parts at each machine, making the process more efficient.
Plus, since the machines are automatically unloading the parts, you can focus on the task at hand without worrying about unloading the parts yourself.
