Because in Europe we are looking at whether it is legal for such a large company to use its dominant position and not allow applications to be installed on an old device, it not only affects the user but seriously affects the environment, forcing the user to purchase a new terminal when the old should work perfectly if there was a third party store. Apple clearly does not allow a third-party store, with this policy it causes more contamination when it makes it impossible for a third party to distribute applications that could work perfectly.
As an American it made me extremely happy that the EU said fuck you to Apple, make your phones USB-C and allow 3rd party stores (sideloading). Unfortunately it's an uphill battle and a lot more shady business practices from many companies need to be cracked down on. But even just these 2 things are huge wins for everyone since most tech companies follow Apple's lead.
