  • We're at the Virgin Islands National Park and today we hike the entire Reef Bay Trail, one of the island favorites. The 4.4 mile out-and-back trail covers almost 1,000 feet of elevation change. At the end is the sugar plantation ruins and the beautiful shoreline. Hiked on April 28, 2021.

Sounds like you visited in the summer time. I can imagine a bit uncomfortable in the 🌧 🌦. It must have been easy to spot the petroglyph with the water and all.

Another great video! I really wanted to do this trail when I visited Virgin Islands National Park in January, but I drove by the trailhead. Like you said, it is hard to find! Instead, I continued on to the Ram Head Trail, which was also an exceptional hike. But I am glad I could do the Reef Bay Trail vicariously through your video!

I’ve just recently found you on RUclips when I was planning my trip to Utah, and I love your videos! ( and UTAH🧡) you have a great voice and spirit! I did hike Angels Landing in Zion weeks ago. What saved me was the temperature, I don’t know how people do that hike in the heat of the summer!I wanted to ask you is Ramshead as hard or harder then Angels Landing? Heading to St John in two weeks and looking to do this trail. TMI, but just turned 60… thoughts? Thanks for all your videos they are all awesome!👍🏼

Appreciate the kind words and welcome to the channel! Congrats on your Angels Landing summit! Didn't make it all the way out to Ramshead, but don't believe it's much like AL. The hike we did in this video took some effort. Sharp elevation change at the end. I was 56 at the time. If you did AL, this one is very doable (with no sharp drop-offs). It's a great hike!

Hello America's Parks! 🧜‍♂️🧜‍♀️ Had a Drill Sergeant, and he once told me, that Army training in the rain builds character. Looks like you and Julie built a ton of character on that trail hike..lol. Happy Anniversary, and God Bless...

What an amazing place. Again the history and most impressive diversity in wildlife and flora/fauna. Such troopers in the rain to boot :) As an outdoor educator we hiked with our students rain or shine and definitely know that feeling of "well were wet anyway" LOL. One of the joys of hiking in the redwoods (where I worked) in the rain was it brought out the wildlife in a major way. Have a wonderful week and much love

Hahaha, I’ve done so many trails where you like how you start out going down and it’s nice - and then you realize you need to go back up. I am really starting to like looking at pertroglyphs. Interesting to see the way they expressed themselves. That was a lot of rain that came down! Glad to see you were both in good spirits even after the rain!

The Virgin Islands National Park is a beautiful and romantic destination to celebrate your Silver Anniversary. Hiking on a tropical trail with petroglyphs and an old sugar cane factory would be so different and awesome; compared to where I hike, in my home State of Arizona... Honestly like it when unexpected things like rain happened on a trail as long as it's not a bad storm. Those millipedes that you seen climbing the tree when it rains in North Georgia they come out of the woods and thousands of them cover the road. Thanks for sharing!

Hi America's Parks! Great video. I spent my teenage years 1980- 1985 living on St.Thomas. A friend and I took the ferry over to St.John and my mom dropped us off at the same trail head (reef bay) in 1983. Saw same stuff you did and it was an awesome experience. So cool to see it again in your video. Lots of millipedes, yeah they are slightly poisonous but never heard of anybody dying from them. Hermit crabs, lizards galore. It amazing how the deer just move around in that thick brush easily. Thanks for the video! Ya mon stay dry ☺️

Here are the national parks that we visited: Dry Tortugas and Key West, Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, Congaree National Park( one of the newest parks in SC ), and...New River Gorge National Park & Preserve as well as Hawks Nest State Park. This was an amazing road trip! I will be driving to Big Bend National Park in October. I will make sure that we are wearing America's Park's teashirts😊😊😊! Looking forward to seeing what's next...maybe, Rainbow Bridge, National Monument.
