i just bought a canoe yesterday. took it out today and tipped over put all the gear and my cousin in the water, had my life vest on and was able to scramble keep calm and enjoy getting wet escaping disaster and had my gear protected thanks to you two sharing your follies on the last adventure. i may go out again tomorrow i may just have to cook some bannock and sausage. cheers
You mentioned visiting Croatia in the video. I spent 2 weeks driving around Croatia in 2019 and had a great time. Historic towns, river gorges and lakes, the Velabit mountains and the rocky Adriatic coast make it an ideal place to explore. The toll roads and long tunnels through the mountains make it easy to cover long distances. And still reasonably priced. Bavaria is another area I want to visit.

My brother & his wife have done trips with Dr’s Without Borders abroad. He is an Army head & neck trauma surgeon. She is a trauma surgical nurse. They did a lot of cleft pallet surgeries on kids. They’ve said nothing but good things about those trips. Hope your friend enjoys her studies & reaches those goals.

Bannock is great. It's an old way of cooking batter, corn meal,etc. Civil War soldiers, used to wrap it around their ramrods. Great with hotdogs or sausages. Yum. You two are really great together, hope you have more fun.
"Better die with memories than live with only dreams" so whatever your plans are, just go for it. I do like bannock and usually try to find a flat rock I put in or very close to the fire to cook them on. You put oil on them. What you can also do, since your are bringing oil, is mix the oil in the dough. It's the 'Down Under' version of a flat bread called 'Damper'. It will be filling you up more quick but is also more pliable and less likely to burn. I agree with everyone else that you make a good and cute team. Have fun out there. Wondering what kit Harriet is gonna get when she decides to ho outdoors more often.

Great idea for cooking. I was thinking of an easier way to cook something quite simple without having a frying pan and trying to do crazy set ups over a fire. But this way of cooking will be way easier and quicker. Thanks for this idea. I'll try this out with some sausages. I wonder if black puddings on sticks could cook okay like this. I'll try it out anyway
Great to see you making Bannock over a fire Becky. I made Bannock 2 weeks ago in an Ice fishing hut 20 km. up a local river. Baked it up and cooked onion, mushrooms, home smoked bacon, and home fries. mmmm . I have been a lone Wolf all my life but you two had such a good time. Two peas in a pod as the saying goes. I must say , that was quite the entrance Harriet. : ) Hard to tell the video from the bloopers lol . Awesome video. I loved it. Best wishes to both of you. Paul
@this time video to me nostalgic often-scenes have reminded me of after final terms in first half semester, with friends spent time around campfire with marshmallow-crackers, corns, hot dog, potatoes. yah!~ surely had a good time at campfire. yay~~~~thumbs up
here in Denmark they are called pølsehorn " translated directly " sausage horns , you can buy them finished in many places, small children you see sit and gnaw at them everywhere, but we slightly more adults also gnaw such a cousin down. I have been watching this while eating my tea. I am going away tomorrow for the first time since the lockdown in March, apart from business trips. My last evening meal before I go away is always whatever is left in the fridge. Sometimes this can be really grim and I give up and get a takeaway but this evening it was quite good, scalloped potatoes with mediterranean vegetables and chorizo sausage slowly cooked in the oven. I don't know how you could do this on a campfire. Maybe it would work in a tightly lidded casserole on the embers of a fire. Either way it would have been perfect with bannock bread to wipe the plate clean. I am very impressed about Doctors without Borders. With all the current brouhaha about stopping foreign people from coming to work in this country it is good to remember that this country and particularly the NHS would not be able to continue functioning without its foreign workers. For every foreign doctor who comes here this country should encourage one of ours to work in a developing country for a few years. Enough of that, time to go out to the pub where no doubt there may be one or two foreign workers enjoying English beer!

Campfire cooking hack. When cooking with skewers put a tin foil shield on the handle and you won't burn your hands.
i've made those at home in the oven, sooooo good! Try it with bagel or pretzel dough once, its fantastic!
