I just tried your suggestions on my older cat who has kidney disease. The water helped her so much! She visibly became more relaxed and even rolled over more and lifted her back leg to let me put more water on her tummy. Thank you so much for this valuable information!! 😻
Our older cat had kidney troubles, on hot days we'd bring a saucer with fresh cool water to her. She also enjoyed an ice-block in her water (not all cats like this). We'd rub a little water on her ears, belly, and pads of her paws. As she grew older she'd sit at the water-bowl, her way of saying: "😸Freshen my drink."

Hello doctor Uri, could you do a video about cat diabetes? My cat got diagnosed with diabetes recently and I’ve found there’s not a lot of videos about it other than videos showing how to give your cat insulin shots
Thank you! 🔥 During the heat dome I stayed at home with my foster cat, instead of going to a cooled nice AC workplace and leaving her alone 😅 That’s how much I worried about her during this crazy temperatures.
Thank you. Our elderly black cat has been struggling and we recently found out he's got the start of kidney disease. With this new heat wave, he's really only eating if I bring the wet food over to him so I was worried about that. It makes a world of difference knowing that it's kind of normal and it's okay if I just keep staying the course with that.
I have a complete black cat and it's my first black cat. And the heatwave we had this summer made me really worry. cause it seemed like black cats do have a harder time in the summertime. But I found some stuff to help out. I put water in a bowl and put some of her favorit toys in it so she could splash and dip her paws in the water and she liked it eventually. I bought a coolingpad and put iceclamps under her bedding in her little cathouse outside. and when she got hot I put a moist towel on her while she laid down. I might have gone a little overboard. But I think it helped and maybe they are some good tips and trick for other cats aswell. :)
Our senior cat really struggled with the heatwave we've had recently. her appetite definitely decreased, we were just glad she ate enough food to get her meds in. We bought a cooling pad which she's of course avoided like the plague (she took great effort to walk all around it and not set a paw on it). She thankfully loves loves loves the water fountain we just got. We're expecting another heatwave, adn i know she'll spend it in her summer quarters (the cardboard box living in the corridor). A lot of good advice here, I'll try some of those tricks next time...
Can the cooling pad be placed on top of your cat's cardboard box? If there are holes in the top of the box, cooled air passing over the pad will move down into the box
@@michaelkline884 I like the drinkwell platinum. It has a fairly large capacity. The cats drink much more water from it compared with water in a bowl. They love running water.
You really must consider the benefits of a warmer planet. The land mass under ice could be farmland. Rich nutrient soil. Canada owns alot of acrage that will become habitable. The glass is not half empy- it is half full.
How did I miss this one? Good topic. Also, make sure that the outdoor water source is not in the sun. I made that mistake, but my cat can always come inside for a drink, she just prefers the empty flower pot outside for some (cat!) reason.
My cat and I both have asthma so I keep the A/C cranked. The humidity we get where I live can also be just awful. We had some days where the humidity was 98%. It has been very hot and humid here but I make it comfortable in the house. And yeah, I agree with you on the climate change stuff. I live in an area known for being cold but our winters have been getting milder and the summers are horrible and downright deadly at times. You can actually see the pine forests retreating farther north than they used to be, because they don't like the crazy heat. Ugh, I wish humans would learn before it gets too bad.

@@lilactreehouse it had to be done or she would have started to suffer. It was just the right time. Although I know all was right, but it still brings back tears.
Thank you ever so much.♥️🌈🐈😇🌈♥️
Tschuess, kleine ROO-Maus.
Ich danke Dir nochmals fuer Deine Worte.
♥️♥️♥️🐈♥️♥️♥️
So thanks for the tip
Wonderful Claudia! I’ve been putting water out for all the animals outside.
Hello 👋, how are you?
Hello doctor Uri, could you do a video about cat diabetes? My cat got diagnosed with diabetes recently and I’ve found there’s not a lot of videos about it other than videos showing how to give your cat insulin shots
Sure thing!
All good info, thanks!
Thank you! 🔥 During the heat dome I stayed at home with my foster cat, instead of going to a cooled nice AC workplace and leaving her alone 😅 That’s how much I worried about her during this crazy temperatures.
Very helpful. I didnt know about wetting their ears.

GRADE A BELLY THIS IS NOT A DRILL
The most helpful video about dealing with heat, thank you!
SHADE THAT CAT!
Such helpful tips, been feeling the heat in Vancouver. Thanks Dr. Uri!
Very usefull advice with those super high temperatures up there in British Collumbia !
Thank you doc!
You seem like such a lovely man and I appreciate your videos greatly :)
Oh honey, you use your wine glass to cool off your kitties? I'm in love
So great to know. Thank u Dr
Hello 👋, how are you?
Thank you very much
A water fountain is a great investment. My cats love my pet fountain and seem to drink much more than they did from a bowl.
May I ask what brand you got? I’m looking to get one. Thanks
@@michaelkline884 I like the drinkwell platinum. It has a fairly large capacity. The cats drink much more water from it compared with water in a bowl. They love running water.
@@108hindu Thanks
You really must consider the benefits of a warmer planet. The land mass under ice could be farmland. Rich nutrient soil. Canada owns alot of acrage that will become habitable. The glass is not half empy- it is half full.
Naturally Mr. Pirate gets his water from a wine glass. Only the best for the classy boy!!
Hi Dr Uri! I don’t understand English by ear, but I love cats and looking at Mr. Pirate gives me pleasure ❤️ You are cool!
Clawdia looks so close to my cat.
I'm in Canada too, maybe one of her relatives moved to Saskatchewan and had a litter or two
How did I miss this one? Good topic. Also, make sure that the outdoor water source is not in the sun. I made that mistake, but my cat can always come inside for a drink, she just prefers the empty flower pot outside for some (cat!) reason.
Thank you for this great information.
awwww... that kitty LOVES you ... 💕
Love when Dr. Uri had to turn that fluffy butt off of the camera 😂 Talk about censorship ...
I've used the cooler blocks wrapped in towels for my guinea pigs to lay next to when they felt too hot in my non-ACd apartment during summer heat
My cat, Captain Tom, really likes the air conditioned cockpit.
