I saw the Momentary Lapse tour in '87. I was 16, had been a Floyd fan since 1979, and had never been to a gig of any kind until that point. It was, and remains, one of the greatest nights of my life.
i love this interveiw!!! David has such a great sense of humour, he had me laughing so hard at some of his comments regarding roger{funny but true].With his sexy voice ,his incredible good looks and his awesome guitar talent david is one of a kind
hey!!! No dissing The Floyd.I'm old and I still cover my bedroom walls with Floyd art!!....monster sized young shirtless Gilmour framed pics...I don't know about y'all, but since the Passing of Richard Wright I can't listen to "Turning The Inside Out" without tears as it reminds me that I will Never Ever see them together in concert again and it breaks my heart!!! Pink Floyd, the greatest rock band this world will ever know!...
Alex B I think roger got so far left wing people around him couldn’t stand it and when all his music he wrote was a left wing winge that was it he had to go. Compare the final cut to momentary laps of reason David got pink floyd back on track in my view
The politics really had nothing to do with the split, they're all self admittingly very left leaning. What drove the wedge was the fact that Roger felt Pink Floyd was his writing, and Gilmour felt it was his musicianship. Add on a clash of ego's, lawsuits, and general nastiness that made their relationship irreparable
@@NolanEgbert And Gilmore was right. Most people could not give two tosses about the lyrics even if they could understand them. Waters was a pretentious cock.
I have a feeling that Dave is High AF haha thank you guys for keeping the Pink Floyd name and making possibly the best 2 live shows ever done in History
Fantastic interview. It gives insight into their personalities 'coz they're still young but you can see that they're maturing. They've lost, or overcome, the arrogance they possessed (or that possessed them) when they were so young during the Dark Side & Wish You Were Here era. They're obviously extremely intelligent young men & they've also got this sublime wit come through in their talk. I love these guys. They're so cool! Their music is inspirational! Thanks for this.
A joke is a joke and what's said is what makes it funny and yes "we were relieved Roger chose to go". Looking back for a 1968 fan to 2022 we were first devastated but when we new Pink Floyd would go on we were in bliss. Thankyou so much David, Nick and latter Rick.
I do the same thing and was thinking he does that to I am a pisces moon but my sister has the same birthday as David Gilmore March six yesterday happy birthday sister and David
Waters couldnt stand that David and the rest of the band could get sucses without him. The worst thing for Waters was return Rick to Pink Floyd. And good. That was good David ' s move.
The guy on the speaker announcing phone calls sounds like some of the between-song voices on some of their albums. I wonder if he was trying to sneak in an audition. lol!
I saw PF, after I saw Roger Waters do his show, and David Gilmore kept PF, right up there with a fantastic light show, and visual effects and sound quality.
Have a Cigar, if you watch the available doc of the Wish You Were Here record (very cool), was done originally with RW & DG as a dual vocal, then Roy Harper, who was booked in the same studio at the time, came in and nailed it after they agreed to have him upon his suggestion. They actually play the tracks- I heard it. Simple. Truth.
Just because Roger wrote the lyrics, it weren't automatically Roger's songs. Most songs they played where co-compositions. For example, the title track of Wish you were here was a poem of Roger, for which David wrote ALL music.
I recently discovered an interesting interview with Gilmour which took place prior to their 1987 A Momentary Lapse Of Reason tour. My favorite part of the interview involved Waters' litigation against Gilmour and Mason and his predilection for taking all of the credit for Pink Floyd's immense success. GILMOUR: It's a joke, he won't stop us. There is no question about it, there is not really a struggle. I mean, there is a cute idea that, uh, that I keep reading about that he did it all and he wrote all sorts of songs that he didn't write...life's too short to sit around about those sorts of things.
I'm actually really glad you clarified that! I was about to ask how you don't understand, Lol😂...but, to your point, I SOMETIMES do it, but I do try to minimize it....I try not to make it a constant and excessive thing. 😉
Well working with paper all day, especially in winter, your hands get dry and slide off and you cannot grasp the pages. However, there is a product called Quiksort.
Did you buy them off the 2nd hand scalper market? Because my ticket for the Philly show on May 15th 1988 in the first level with a clear view across from the stage was only in the 20 something dollar range... And that was an awesome seat. The tickets were still way cheaper then... I can see how closer floor seats might've gone for considerably more on the secondary market though.
This seems like they are swiping their phones as they turn the pages. Lol. This tour was what made me a fan. I was 13/14ish and my uncle said he would let me smoke weed. I won’t going to go but he said that so I went. I had no idea what I was about to see. Gilmour became my idol that day.

At this point Nick Mason is the age I am now and David a couple of years younger. What strikes me is how much more like proper ' Adults, ' in looks, dress and mannerisms they seem compared to me. I don't think I'll ever be a proper adult like them.

(Of course, the shows I saw in '94 were much more expensive. The big difference between AMLOR(DSOT) Tour and Division Bell Tour, was the intervening Steel Wheels Tour, which single handedly tacked on an extra 30%-40% to all ticket prices. Good seats that would have been $56 in '87-'88, became $86 tix. )

I would die for one concert Pink Floyd. Where is the devil? I need to sign contract

Nick reminds me of Eric Idle in this video, LOL
It is,,he toured with Floyd in 87.88, and co-wrote a lot of the album...
Great footage, of a amazing moment to be remembered, when Pink Floyd came back after Roger leaves the band
