I know I could have done things differently (I had a lot of resources I could have sold lmao), but I'm a very careful and slow player, and I never rush to win because I like long games. Thanks for watching! Some quick observations based on a few other quick games I've played: - The less buildings you have unlocked the more likely you are to get buildings related to each other. You're bound to get, for example, a Herb Garden and then a Bakery. Or say, a Brewery and a Tavern too. These buildings are more likely to show up, because the selection of buildings is low. Which means your production chain can be pretty simple. - Kiln is necessary without access to the Mine, unless you're on Scarlet Orchard maybe... - I believe that Dangerous Glades only take the difficulty into account, not your level (correct me if I'm wrong). So even if RNG protects you with some menial events, you still need to be careful and be prepared.
Kiln is an instant pick for me 99% of the time no matter what. Coal is always useful, 3 races eat jerky and a more efficient brick production is nice too. While the latter 2 aren't the most efficient just having all those essential options in one building is just so convenient.
wow. I didn't realise the massive effect that woodcutters have on hostility and in turn resolve. During storms, I've resorted to burning loads of coal and wood to keep up with resolve, sometimes running out of burnables and having people leave. I'm glad I watched cause now I feel a lot better about adapting to storms
You can also cheese it if you don’t mind micro-managing by switching between preferential treatment on difference races, right before they drop a population. If you alternate race preferences, do sacrifices on and off & take your woodcutters off during the storm you can get through just about anything with only 0-2 population loss
Honestly, always was interested in this game, but looked for videos from someone who knows how to play, instead of watching same dumbies like me trying to make 1+1 in 30 minutes straight. And even tho there's only few videos - i'm really glad to find this channel. You making a good gameplay videos. Hope to see more vods from you on this channel.
I just found you randomly and wanted to say your videos are great! your commentary is clear and the editing is concise but not too fast-paced. I hope you make more :D
Double Calming the Forest cornerstone is so nice, especially if you're lucky to get totem events for even more hostility reduction or flat resolve increase.
Great video! I watch a lot of people play complex games like this and I always enjoy watching those who play at the highest tier of difficulty and create new and interesting challenges for themselves. Good luck with your channel :)
You have such a clear and well articulated voice for narration. Keep up the good work! Do you think this is the best base building game? Which others do you recommend? I have little time and want to play a game I can stick to. Thanks!
Thank you! This is definitely my fave city builder, I really like the RNG and how every city is unique, the game stays fresh! But I also love other builders too, it really depends what you’re after! Settlement Survival, Tropico, Cities Skylines, Anno, etc etc, they all offer lots of cool mechanics I can’t really rank them 😅 AtS is my fave but I’d definitely look into others before choosing one to stick to, just to make sure you’ll like it!
Really enjoyed this, and learned a bunch from you running through your thinking. Would love to see you do an impossible series. One thing I couldn't quite understand, a few times you delayed delivering your orders - why? I always deliver them ASAP so would love to understand your thinking
Thank you! So the reason I don’t always turn my orders in, is usually because it’s right before the Storm is about to hit. If I’m on the cusp of a higher Hostility level, completing an order could bump me into the next level of Hostility, and make the Storm even harder to get through. So I’ll complete the order after the storm ends. (Another possible reason is that if an order has villagers as a reward, I don’t always want to accept them yet. Either because it might bump up the Hostility level (more villagers = more hostility), or because I don’t have workplaces for them yet. Of course, if I need the Reputation/blueprint fast, I’ll complete the order.) I hope that makes sense!
Thanks! I use OBS to record the video and game audio, and Audacity to record my voice while playing. Then I use Adobe Premiere Pro to put it together :)
Great video; love your channel! I feel like now the trading post is an early unlock... am I remembering wrong? Maybe I am thinking of some other basic game mechanic instead that has to be unlocked early. Maybe it got switched with the Rain Collector? I feel like I had that at the beginning. (I just started a couple of weeks ago.)
Thank you! I'm pretty sure the trading post is still available from the start and the rain collector is unlocked at level 2 - playing the tutorial will level you up to level 2, but I skip that in these vids :)
Also, are you planning to continue this run ? Since next video as i see - prestige one. Also, do you planning to do any long runs with continue after establishing Settlements ? If each time after finishing one you just gonna start complete different run - that's gonna be... kinda sad.
Hi, so this settlement is complete. At the end, you can see the blue bar at the bottom filled completely and the “settlement complete” pops up. That means I have gathered enough Reputation to satisfy the queen. The city is now secured and I, as a viceroy, can move on to settle another city, to make another safe haven. The game is about establishing multiple settlements. You CAN continue your settlement and build some more stuff, but it doesn’t really do anything. It is a “roguelite” city builder, which means every run is different. Very different from your average city builder. :)
@@Beaviful Yes, i knew that, well, guessed, but on different video you started prestige run ? So, i mean, is this run gonna be continued, like multiple settlements gonna be build on same map, or each time you gonna start new map ? Since as i seen, after establishing settlement they gave some sort of food ? (well, bread), and you can spend it for something during run before establishing new colony, so, game intended to be played after establishing one settlement after another. Also, my "average" city builder i played - is "rise to ruins", same mechanic with building multiple settlements in different regions, open perks, make lvls and stuff, but also with fighting more literal blight, which also doing exactly same as you do and can build things, expand, attack you just because it can, and kill you, if get too close.
Before starting each settlement you can choose your own difficulty. Once you’ve completed an Impossible settlement, you unlock prestige difficulties. Each prestige just gives an extra challenge (need more Rep to win, less blueprint choices, longer storm etc). This specific video was just a unique challenge run so I’m not really going to continue like a normal play through. These videos at the moment are more “Can a starter account win high difficulty games?” And yes the food stuff you get when you win a settlement are meta resources used to upgrade your tech tree, where you unlock upgrades and other stuff. In between settlements. I’ll have to check out Rise of Ruins! :)
what's your opinion on rushing the forbidden glade on marshland? I've done it a couple of times and I found it very strong to stack the camps on the enormous stack right from the get-go. Often you can resolve the event without taking too much dmg IMO.

Very nice video as always. Glad you're commenting now, makes your decisions much more clear. The hostility reduciong cornerstones are very nice, a user on the Discord even showed their game where they pushed the limits of reducing the Hostility. I was wondering about what you think of the resource/5 cornerstones, I almost always take those because I like free stuff and infinite games.
Thanks! I like those cornerstones too, there's absolutely no downside to them and they can go toward making products/selling them. Of course there are stronger cornerstones that I might choose instead, but I like safe cozy picks too haha
