Exploring THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS Locations

- Bond is on a mission to the Rock of Gibraltar at the beginning of The Living Daylights, and in this video I visit the same location where Timothy Dalton had his debut entrance as James Bond! Will I find the exact spots of filming, will I be marked as "Smert Shpionam", and will I be attacked by the Gibraltar monkeys? You'll have to watch the video to see all the excitement, the thrills, and the monkey business!
Special thanks to Giancarlo from Rocky Monkey Gibraltar Tours. Email him at milantag@gmail.com or visit them at www.rockymonkey.gi

When David is not running an advertising and marketing company, his hobby is The Bond Experience which is primarily a video blog where he discusses Bond experiences and the people and brands that help to create those experiences...
The mantra of living like Bond, one moment at a time emanates from a concept of experiencing the joy of collecting small moments in life that add up to amazing journeys and stories....whether it's through style, locations, literature, fitness, and the movies themselves the world of Bond is explored through its people and their stories.
Ultimately though, The Bond Experience channel is a celebration of the James Bond franchise and the many people that form a true community. Our core mission is to create a strong connection in the Bond community amongst all the fans, regardless of interest or demographic.

In my opinion The Living Daylights is the best introduction to a new 'Bond' ever! That first close up of Dalton on the cliff face at the start of the movie is iconic and still gives me chills. Timothy Dalton was indeed a great 'Bond'. Wouldn't it be cool David if you could get an interview with Timothy Dalton.
Also seeing Dalton himself on the top of the speeding Landrover was such a refreshing change, after the later Moore movies had obvious stunt men doing the majority of the action.
The Bond Experience spends more money on location shooting than Eon does.
Flaunts , I think is the word
This is my favorite Bond film and partly because of the many varied locations it visits.
SO, SO, SO cool! I loved Timothy Dalton as Bond, and this movie has my favorite entry as a new actor playing the role, for the series!
This is one of my favourite Bond movies. I’d love to go there and experience it myself.
Thanks for bringing us along!
The Living Daylights was always one of my favorites since I first saw in the theaters when it came out. It had a commando Bond, other 00s fighting in the field, lot's of amazing action, a great story and a great Bond girl. A great adventure movie all around. Someday you should go to Morocco to see some of the other TLD sites, plus Morocco is just wonderful!
I went to Gibraltar at the start of last year. It was seeing it in The Living Daylights that started my interest in going.
Very cool love places that are coastal and near the water. Dalton did a really good job in that film!

Visited Gibraltar last year and loved it. Beautiful views and a brilliant hike up the Rock of Gibralatar and inside all the war tunnels. And of course feeling like Timothy Dalton while doing it! Very relaxing marina to chill with a drink at night and some great restaurants. And the monkeys too!
This video is very good I'm watching for the second time
ONE OF YOUR BEST VIDEOS
Best quote of the video: “If they get near me I’m gonna drop kick it.”
We’re being spoiled with all these new videos
Interesting episode. I always wondered about Gibraltar
Perfect timing, I just finished watching “Bond girls are forever” on ITVX in uk hosted by Maryam d'Abo 😎👌🏻
Maryam, Barbara and Izabella are my Bond girls😆
Amazing video David! Thanks for sharing it with us.
I visited all the Vienna locations last year. It was quite a thrill standing at the same window as Kara with her rifle.
Love it! Suprised the monkey didn’t scare the Living Daylights out of you 😎😉 Great to see my friend Giancarlo in the video ! 007 🔫🔥
Hey DZ - super shots of Gibraltar, been there more than a few times ... I remember the monkeys all around, as you walk along the rock.
Watching this clip on a ship, sailing back to Lauderdale from Cozumel.
Great job as always! 🇬🇧🔫🍸
I absolutely love this movie. While it's quite clear some of the script and even acting were done in favour of this being a 'smoother' transition from Moore's Bond to the next, I still find this movie very enjoyable as it is very 'Bond'. For me a Bond movie has to be 'Bond' - a good example of a 'not Bond movie' is the latest one. 💪🏻 for the gym content.
Yeah! Interesting location...& Still a British territory, which is nice. The producers of TLD obviously used some artistic licence to depict the Rock as being higher than it really is for the chase sequence down it.
When I was there during a day off filming, our coach passed this spot. 36°07'39.0"N 5°20'30.3"W. There is a wall there now, but back in the day it was just a patch of flat sandy clearing. We passed by in our coach, and I saw at least two or three Landrovers, and at least one of them had two dummies in it, with black hair. The tour guide (remember those?) said each day they take the cars to the top of the mountain, and then fire them off the side using an air cannon. It must have been this spot because the rest of the road is a tunnel, and before that, an included verge. The roads leading up to St. Michaels Cave was closed off with 007 signs, and the whole place smelled of Bond. It was very difficult for me to take in, but it was buzzing and exciting. They were filming the next day, but we had already gone back to our hotel in Fuengirola by then.
I doubt we will see those days again, now that Amazon is more into cash-in TV length spinoffs. Even if they go for a TV serial, it wont be the same as a feature. Lets hope Im wrong.
What a Great iconic location to see in person!! Thanks for sharing. I can't tell you how many times I ran down a hill on my way to work when I was in highschool, listening to the Living Daylights soundtrack, and pretending I was running after the bad guy in that title sequence. It's one of my all time favorite openers and movies of the franchise.
Oooops. Don't call it Spain! They won't let you in next time. 🇬🇧
I'm looking forward to a future Bond location being referred to as, 'Las Malvinas'.
Great tour guide
love the thumbnail :)
Great video, David. Love to go to Gibraltar one day. Looks amazing
Yay!
Very cool video, David. "You surpassed yourself this time."
Practically you are visit g my homeplaxe because I lived about 60 miles north from Gibraltar on Puerto de Santa María, near of Casi where it was used on "Die another day" for La Havana locations.. I suppose the next video will be in Cádiz
I live in Gibraltar. Would have been really cool to know you were coming to meet with another Bond fan
Nice! Your wife's reaction to monkeys reminds me of my wife's reaction to birds. You ought to check out Lisbon & some OHMSS locations.
I was literally there just over a month ago. We got a ferry over from Gib (TLD) to Tangier and travelled Morocco for a week (TLD and Spectre)
David, could you add in the music links in the description please. They're awesome.
Nice vid. This is in my top Bond films. Loved Dalton in this film. I know you guys aren’t high on fashion in this film though, heh. But I love the Tan Blazer Bond has on outside the Hotel. And Daltons scene with Pushkin in Pushkins hotel room, I feel my favorite Flemmingesque Bond scene. And great opening scene.
Watch check?!
Would of been fantastic if David re created the scenes from the movie for us Bond Experience subscribers
David, now that Ian Fleming's novels are sliding into public domain, how does that effect future Bond films? Casino Royale is in public domain now, Live and Let Die will be in pd end of the year, Moonraker next year, etc. With the copyright expired, how can EON prevent competitors? Will independent James Bond films challenge EON? What prevents an empowered filmmaker like Christopher Nolan to move in and take over ?
More MI6 agents - yes, more 00s - I'd rather not, as I see them as mysterious lone wolfs.
I have worked in Gibraltar for some time, one of the worst places in the world
What’s the music called at 7:28?
Surely you realise when talking to camera to look at the lens and not the screen of yourself?!
