    Great work Johannes, thanks. “I will not spend another cent on this bike.” Yeah, right! 🤣🤣🤣. Also…it took me a long time to come around to the idea of dump tuning my bikes but in my experience it’s well worth it if you have a good operator. Thanks again!

      Hehe, that's why I said I didn't promise anything. Already looking at a steering damper and a GPS, but I don't really consider them as a bike upgrade as those can be moved to the next bike as well!

    Looking good Johannes. If definitely recommend the carpe iter although it is an awful lot of money.... The terrain command controllers with an active tab would also be a good combo I think. My only concern would be charging. I've had issues in the past with damp usb sockets which almost left me unable to charge my phone and nav devices. That's the reason I went for the carpe over another solution. I had good results recently using a wireless charging head from quad lock with a second mobile phone running for nav.
    Only other thing I can see you might want as you progress with your riding on the husky is a scotts damper. Mine has saved me countless times and is highly recommend one! Nice thing about it is you only buy one in your lifetime and can change it across your bikes....

    • @JohannesDalenMC
      @JohannesDalenMC  2 года назад

      Thanks a lot for chiming in Tom!
      The issue you mention with charging is one of the main reasons why I still consider the Carpe. The USB socket isn't waterproof and I can imagine that being problematic in heavy rain. On the other side, I've also read people complaining about the charging solution on the Carpe.
      Thanks for the tip regarding the Scotts damper - I will buy one sooner or later and I'm happy to hear you've found it helpful. I don't consider a damper an upgrade to the bike since it can be moved to the next bike as you say.

    • @marcochavane3124
      @marcochavane3124 Год назад

      Just a tip. Use dielectric grease in USB port that are exposed to the elements. I use Marine grade USB chargers and 12v socks and dab the grease inside of them. Same for the cables themselves. No issues rain or shine.
      Will prevent shorts as well as corrosion.

    Start with the samsung running DMD2, and get a controller (or two). If you really like it, you can always upgrade to the robert-level, i mean Boss level, Carpe Iter. basically, make sure you like the DMD(2) before spending Carpe Iter money. And decide which controller you want.

    • @JohannesDalenMC
      @JohannesDalenMC  2 года назад

      Thanks for chiming in. I actually have experience with the DMD2 - I'm running an older Samsung phone as my GPS. If I can find a cheap and used Active 3 tab, I can give it a try before going full Robert!
      The only drawback to the Samsung is how to charge it when it's raining. The USB socket isn't waterproof. Got any ideas?

  • @stefanpreda738

    What ratio you are aiming at adventure/rally with this setup?
    When in adventure ho do you deal with refueling considering luggage, and what's the service intervals between your husky and let's say a honda crf300 rally, as I cannot make my mind up 👍😁🤔

    • @JohannesDalenMC
      @JohannesDalenMC  2 года назад

      That is a very good question!
      I keep my bike as light as possible, without racks and crash guards. That will make the bike as ready for rally as it can be. If I'm about to leave on an adventure trip, I will put on less aggressive tires, and if I'm going to attend a rally, I will put on very aggressive tires. The rest of the bike remains "ready to race".
      Refueling the bike is no problem, just get luggage that doesn't cover the rear completely or can easily be removed.
      Service intervals on the 701 is every 10k km, the crf300 is every 12k.

      There’s a lot of really cool kits out there, but I’d honestly rather spend that cash on fuel. I don’t care too much about the looks, but I agree with you, it looks really nice in all white. I got the inspiration from a guy named Roland Peelen, he made this all white rally 701 that looked fantastic.

    Johannes... you have recently been riding offroad.... why oh why would you go for a 701 and a T7?
    Why didn't you start with a 250 or 350.
    It's mind boggling.
    I have ridden bikes here in Africa for just over 30 years (and I'm no slouch) and nothing was ever over a 525 cc which was way too much bike. I too an a big fellow, (6 6" 112 kg)
    My ideal enduro bikes are 300 and 450.

    Nice build and video. How have you found the reliability with the 701 so far? It seems to be mixed with some people experiencing problems and others not. Do you notice a weight difference between the 701 and DRZ when riding?

    • @JohannesDalenMC
      @JohannesDalenMC  2 года назад +2

      Thank you!
      So far the 701 has been without any issues. It is such a good bike that if anything happens, I'll just get it fixed and move on. But I have to admit, from time to time it worries me a bit that I see people having issues, but I'm not going to let that negatively affect me on a daily basis, I'm riding each day like there's no tomorrow, and if anything happens I'll just deal with it.
      The DRZ feels lighter in slow paced stuff actually - I have a video that I want to make comparing these two bikes and will touch on the weight difference, so stay tuned!
