This really doesn’t make Muay Thai look good. I mean this guy is one of the greatest ever and was getting lit up bad and almost finished in the first round. If this mma guy was a better boxer he would have knocked him out. To me this just proves that if you take a guy with a solid boxing skills and fundamentals, give him a year or two to learn Muay Thai and kickboxing fundamentals and dealing with other strikes he would easily beat someone doing the opposite. Boxing is the best striking foundation by far and mma proves it as most of the best fighters are boxing centric in their striking and boxing even compliments grappling better than muay thai

He nearly got dropped by the first good one and didn't seem to take any of the three or four other solid punches well either. It's good that he has such good defence and remained so composed when he was hurt or that guy might have really landed something and ended it.
@@7dayspkingI Know this is late but just seeing this vid... "Nearly" only counts when throwing hand grenades. Big looping punches like that look good but rarely hurt when the defendant is moving out of range. The MMA fighting throw his whole arsenal at him in that first round and he just absorbed it, the later rounds were all his. Just look at the poor guys expression in the end as he is hanging onto the ropes, he's dead tired and glad he didn't get knocked out.
@@nriqueog It's like you didn't read my comment. Everyone thinks Buakaw has this superhuman chin. I was pointing out that Buakaw was actually avoiding getting hit with all of those punches. All of the solid punches that hit Buakaw completely disrupted him and left him desperately on the defensive and off balance. He didn't take those punches well whether he 'took everything off them' or not, he looked like a baby deer trying to walk after he was hit with them. Clearly Buakaw can be hurt, he does not have an invincible chin.
The reason he slowed down the video is to show that everybody mistaken that for a blow in the face. Buakaw dodged that punch, it was more of a boop and carried little impacts. Just that part only though, the other times when he did take blows in the face it seems like his face is made of steel or something.
He took that massive hook and smiled after getting up easily. He took the beating like it was nothing. Buakaw wasn't close to getting beaten if you ask me.

@@anonymousbaphomet3242 Ey man that's a fair question, especially since the thing that fighters fear the most happened to him after one round lmao (Getting gassed)
Buakaw gets cannonballs in the face from the start, he gets up smiling, then he continues to eat. When the adversary has given everything King Buakaw arrives and defeats the adversary like a gladiator. This guy has a magnificent style and an incredible cashing ability. RESPECT and long life to you BUAKAW 🙏
Consious Awearness round 2 to extended round. Dida ate tons of knees and kicks. If you want to know how painful a muay thai kick is...go to Thailand, they'll be glad to educate you.
Correct...Buakaw is possibly one of the hardest kicks in the game...he will gladly demonstrate what he can do to a banana tree...his delivery of kicks/knees when riled against Dida was *particularly vicious*
Yeah I remember watching the fight on RUclips and seeing his change of demeanour when the second round started. He didn't have a plan B, he put everything on getting the knockout early.
Buakaw is a prodigy in reading his opponents and adjusting his style to them, the only option is beating him fast or with a lucky well landed shot. His win chances go up every second
How did this prodigy in reading opponents fail to read a simple feint not once but twice? Both times knocking him to the ground. If this was an MMA match and not a Thai match, the MMA fighter would have just pummelled him senseless while he's already incapacitated from his knockdowns until the ref declared him the winner. This one-eyed no name fighter utterly destroyed this Muaythai legend and nobody sees it. Crazy
@@inkwyvern5171 except the prodigy wasn't allowed to use his entire arsenal. In a UFC fight he would have obviously used elbows too. Any Muay Thai fighter using 100 percent of his arsenal is a dangerous opponent. MMA is a sport. Muay Thai was designed to kill people. Learn the difference
That's the whole point of the gamble. He knew he couldn't beat Buakaw in endurance so he tried to end it in 1 round. It was basically his only chance of winning so it was a reasonable strategy it just didn't work. Everyone knew it was over once round 2 started
The risk buakaw take to calculate all punches, measurements, and testing the enemies stamina that's the risk he takes to finish a fight of with monstrous kicks, and deadly knee strikes., buakaw is really a legendary muai thai athlete..
That's what i like from Buakaw, he let the opponent think that he can win against Buakaw at the first round, but he was wrong, he just wasting he's energy for nothing.. Buakaw still the best on Muay Thai..👍
@@arlog123 wha... Is u okay? He was analysing what the opponent could to do further plan what he should do to counter. Afte the first round he did go more fierce in his attacks since he knew what to do. A lot of fighters analyse the capabilities of their opponents.
^^^ That's pretty much what every Must Thai fighter does, they get used the the way you fight and how hard you hit, before they make any rash decisions.
I remember watching this fight, I couldn't believe how close Dida was and even though Buakaw has shown toughness and heart many times before, I didn't believe how tough he is in this fight. Amazing show!
@Risk well it doesn't matter who you after a certain amount of fights your reflexes and skills start to deteriorate and this includes Buakaw and all the other elite fighters including the best Thai fighter at this weight which is Yodsanklai
The way Buakaw went ham on Dida at the last 2 rounds was very strategic. Boxing drains alot of energy and Buakaw was preserving energy quite perfectly on the first round.
Lot of respect to both fighters. Buwakaw was amazing with his devastating no retreat no surrender mode. Dida could have make it in the first round if he was not too hurry to go for a knock out and was a little focusing. This fight is the best example for wat u can gain with not giving up easily
There is a big gap between mma or non-thai muaythai and muay thai fighter. The defense ability! Dida clearly didnt know how to deal with kick and knee properly. He just ate all the shots and got full damages. For muaythai the defense is as important as the attack!
happy turtle googled it and it can be used for takedowns with your enemy that close. Again unless the MMA can use everything at then his pretty much not using 100% of his skills because rules states several of his technics are not allowed.
He defense was good most of the knees were taken on the elbow perfectly. He was just gassed, and gassed has nothing to do with style, it’s energy management which lost him the fight, not martial art pedigree.
Buakaw had a chin and stamina. I remember watching my cousin, who was taking Muay Thai, kick banana trees everyday, then graduated to coconut trees, just to harden his legs. friggin crazy.
@@rajaamsyhar1120 it was a stupid move. A thai fighter can support tons of damage and a lot rounds . The best that u can do is safe energy and survive the fight
How many videos are there of Mcgregor or Nate Diaz being knocked out cold? All of the top fighters can take a punch and there's not a lot of top fighters who are getting knocked out.
Man, that dude kept turning his back during the fight looking for the exit door in the ring in the last 2 rounds. Brutal... exhausted and just taking hits.
Buakaw getting lit in the first round: ‘Friday, Analyse his fight pattern!’🤕 Buakaw in the last round: ‘Let’s kick his a** !’ 😤 *Respect to both fighters for an amazing heartfull performance* 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

At 5:30, Buakaw set that leg kick up so well. Not only was the set up insane, there was no tell from his upper body which was perfect because Dida's guard was high and blocking his line of sight.
Given that the MMA fighter went in with Muay Thai rules and still held his own is admirable. Buakaw would probably have been on the losing end if it were fought with MMA rules. It's pretty obvious that the fighter that trains more for the particular sport/rule set would win.
When an MMA fighter takes on a Muay Thai legend that's already one of the most decorated kickboxers of his time, the MMA fighter is not supposed to win.

If it was an mma fight(closest to a real Street encounter) the mma fight would have choked him out or broken his arm. It was a stand up fight which was to the muay Thai fighters advantage.

Buakaw beat the shit out of him, he didn't even fight back in the first round lol. Dida was far away from close.
No one looks to nearly get dropped unless they're ricardo Mayorga.
ya sound easy ... but you got to able to handle the powerful punch on face in the 1st round ... :"D
Dumbest comment I've ever heard, he got rocked, you a dumbass... The other guy got tired, and coudnt handle the leg kicks... His obviously has no leg conditioning... If the other guy truelly is a MMA fighter he definitely doesn't train kicks... Because MMA you need everything
Muay Thai fighters are taught to withstand many hard blows, im not suprised he endured with relative ease.

Buakaw gets cannonballs in the face from the start, he gets up smiling, then he continues to eat. its part of the game
Yeah I remember watching the fight on RUclips and seeing his change of demeanour when the second round started. He didn't have a plan B, he put everything on getting the knockout early.
Can’t quite count his spirit out, he didn’t give up, kept trying! He did get discouraged, but showed some rediculous grit
I met buakaw on my flight in Thailand once and he was one chill ass dude, a hero of our country

Buakaw is a respectful fighter. It is obvious that he didn't fight in full power when he knew that Dida was almost exhausted.
Yes I was wondering why he didn't go all in and unleash his fury in the end
The MMA fighter released much energy in the first round, big mistake. He didn't save enough fuel for the rest of the rounds
To be honest he is not a mma fighter in this he is a kickboxer
you are right, even Buakaw does not counterattack and only defense, Buakaw trying to drain the opponent's energy
That's the whole point of the gamble. He knew he couldn't beat Buakaw in endurance so he tried to end it in 1 round. It was basically his only chance of winning so it was a reasonable strategy it just didn't work. Everyone knew it was over once round 2 started
Lets be honest Bukawas face is made of Adamantium, any other fighter would have been koed
Wow. Amazing observation. Its not like he said that in the video or anything...
Both fighters showed a crazy amount of heart, such a legendary fight.
great breakdown!
Dida showed tremendous heart staying in there for the last 3 rounds to just get tenderized by Buakaw
The risk buakaw take to calculate all punches, measurements, and testing the enemies stamina that's the risk he takes to finish a fight of with monstrous kicks, and deadly knee strikes., buakaw is really a legendary muai thai athlete..
This Thai man is amazing fighter.
Buakaw is superhuman. This guy is incredible.
That's what i like from Buakaw, he let the opponent think that he can win against Buakaw at the first round, but he was wrong, he just wasting he's energy for nothing.. Buakaw still the best on Muay Thai..👍
Ryu Ryan No way. He wasn’t pretending. He got his butt kicked in the first round.

- Magna - Enlight u speak the truth bro
- Magna - Enlight , agree.
MMA without ground fighting ? How will muaythai defence with grapplings and holds ?
happy turtle googled it and it can be used for takedowns with your enemy that close.

Given that the MMA fighter went in with Muay Thai rules and still held his own is admirable. Buakaw would probably have been on the losing end if it were fought with MMA rules. It's pretty obvious that the fighter that trains more for the particular sport/rule set would win.
