to be fair, its a console, they havent had airflow for the last 20 years, why start now?
I had to get the ugly aftermarket cooler that basically forced cool air through the side/bottom vent of the xbox360...after my 2nd RROD
To be fair it makes sense that their first batch matches the original plates to avoid making things worse for airflow or accidentally making incompatible plates while they work on their tolerances. I will expect different shapes later on, when they will have time to properly test them.

This is the stupidity of trademark and copyright law. The whole entire point is to keep another company from stealing your IP and selling a *competing* product with it. Last I checked, Sony doesn't make customized plates for the PS5. If anything, this supports their bottom line as it's a symbiotic relationship. The plates do you no good without the PS5 to put them on, and having custom plate options actually might let Sony sell more PS5s, as maybe not everyone is cool with white.
