People who originally signed up were trying to get out of it ASAP, it was also more expensive than all of the university and local accommodation, please consider doing some wider research on what you are promoting and how influential you may be to prospective students (the ones who may book off the back of this will be more than you think);
I lived in unite at Bristol and no major problems. Also during the pandemic we had the option to clear our rooms and not have to pay the 3rd rent installment or get a refund if it was paid in full. Most private halls wouldn't have allowed this as it loses them money but say if there is a second wave at least you know unite students would help you out on payments
I can only speak from my own personal experience and the experience of those I have met in my building who have all spoken positively of Unite. This video was uploaded a month after I moved in, where everything has been great for me personally and I have no complaints.

I absolutely love your vlogs and would really like for you to take what I’m about to say as constructive, I have had friends who have been with unite students... one of which was in accommodation that had a massive fire and there was found to be loads of saftey hazards in the building that Unite did not deal with, another friend in a different building had a flood and with so many of their possessions ruined and unite also were terrible about it. The tust pilot reviews are also 1.5/5 and to my understanding is a company that I know students try to actively avoid. I completely understand that they have been great with you and you’ve had a good experience but I don’t know if you know about the background of them? I’m putting this out there so if other students see my comment they know to do research! I am not blaming you in any way as you may not of known and I absolutely love your videos but think you may wanna look at how bad they treat their customers...
I used to live in the Unite residence in Stratford a couple years back. Not only were the rooms extremely overpriced for being that far out, but from what I've seen they've kept getting more expensive ever since. When I lived there the building was only a year old and it was already CRACKING (literally, in our block there was a crack opposite the elevators going all the way from the 1st floor up to the 24th), when it was windy the lifts would stop working because of the draft through the building, the heaters in our kitchen malfunctioned and the room got boiling hot to the point where it was a safety hazard to be in there and they still wouldn't give us a key to open the window, my door (battery operated card lock) kept running out of battery and I kept getting locked out of my room and usually had to wait a couple hours for someone to come around to change the battery. At one point a window 6 floors above the mezzanine level (which is already on the 4th floor) shattered and glass fell all over the mezzanine terrace, which we had to cross to get in/out of our blocks. The Unite-people said a rock magically flew 10 stories up to shatter the window, and the glass was there for at least a week before anyone did anything about it. The only safety precaution they took was to put up signs saying "please wear shoes". This is just a small list of grievances my friends and I experienced while staying with Unite, and from what I've read these sort of things seem to be the norm. I love your channel, and you seem like a smart guy, but maybe you should research a company ahead of time before you agree to work with anyone in the future. Edit: forgot to add probably the most disturbing safety hazard we experienced: one night there was a fire in the block next to us, and every other block got evacuated apart from ours because apparently our fire alarms didn't work, and no one thought to check whether we'd evacuated or not.
bro im at durham. the unite students block there (and im guessing most places) is seen as way overpriced and actually pretty shit (things keep breaking, not very clean etc). and as i say, i go to durham. no one thinks it is amazing here, trust me. please dont blatantly lie

I am in no way attacking by commenting on this and I never usually do but I have also been very wary of unite students as my friends accommodation from them caught fire and it was found to have a load of safety hazards. I’m not saying unite students is bad as that could of been one incidence but the aftermath and the way it was handled was not good. Anyone reading this before you go straight for one accommodation you definitely need to do your research!
I so get why jack would work with unite (free accommodation in Camden?? Yes pls!!) but I really hope he heard genuine testimonials about the service as opposed to saying yes after just talking to Unite as I have never heard one good thing!! My international friends have had so so many issues especially with Covid and also UK friends have had such bad service! Please do your own research before looking at Unite if you need accommodation!!
PSA: in a pandemic, don’t share elevators with people not in your household. I’m sure your building has a rule against more than 1 person at a time using the elevator

Unite students were NOT great to international students during the pandemic. I have a friend which stayed at the same Unite as you are staying in and she had to leave to Germany. There was literally no way for her to come back and she told them so, but they still threatened her that if she doesn't come and pick up her stuff all her stuff will be disposed off. Her dad had to fly in from another country to take her stuff. I know you have been working with them but mindless propaganda isn't it.

I'm absolutely sorry, about your friend, I do plan to study abroad (I also kive in germany) and I'm terrified about the accomodation, but tbf most of the nicer rooms were on united students. i lived with unite students in reading for my first year (Kendrick hall) and yeah the rents are pretty extortionate for what it is. on one occasion a friend of mine had flooding in their ground floor kitchen, and on another me and some friends spent a whole evening having to try and plunge their kitchen sink and it did not get fixed by anyone at unite for a couple of days

I’m moving into unite students accommodation in September also in London, despite the poor ratings. Just because the price is lower than other places and I don’t want to deal with sharing a house and bills etc. another year. I really hope I won’t regret that decision but luckily it’s just one year ! update: I regret staying with them, 50% off during lockdown when I was stuck abroad was a joke! overpriced small room with even no cleaning in the kitchen, security seems not to care about my noise complaints, thin walls which make me hear all of my neighbours which makes me wake up at night or not able to go to sleep. Definitely advice against. the only good part as for London is location exactly next to the victoria line
You should really watch out what you promote,many students have had problems with unite.Yet here’s you promoting an unrealistic experience for the company who hasn’t even helped students during the pandemic, advertising to future students who trust you. Even though it’s a cool experience for you, living in london for free, it could be a nightmare to many students, as well international students who have the added stress of being in different timezones to their family. I'm starting Uni at the end of the month and i'm quite excited and nervous... and also really embarrassed because the living situation that I have found turned out to be very disappointing and quite shit. I feel so stupid for accepting it before viewing the room but this is my very first apartment and I didn't think things through. But i'm on a waitinglist for two other places. So hopefully I can move to something better before Christmas :) Most importantly i'm really looking forward to starting my course and that takes precedence over a shitty apartment!
For all students needing accommodation look at dwell student living, they gave us our money back that we would have lost from moving out due to the pandemic. There such a sound company to go for.

@@MartinBoduroff The price of the studios in the building Jack's currently in is £355-£399 a week (£18-20,000 a year!!). Considering even the *maximum* English student loan would only cover 2/3 of this, that is extortionate. The building (Bristol) I stayed in in first year is now £150 or £170 a week for shared or en-suite respectively (and this is one of the cheaper buildings!), so definitely dependent on where you are in the country. Unite accommodations in the North of England would probably be cheaper than others across the country, but still expensive relative to the area. Best of luck with your studies!

I’m speaking from personal experience as I have now lived in Unite Students accommodation for a month - it’s not like I’m talking about something I know nothing about!! Everyone I’ve met who lives here in this building loves it!! However other people’s experiences are still valid which is why I haven’t deleted any comments or anything. Hope that makes sense :)
Jack Edwards but the problem is that whilst I understand that you’re speaking from personal experience you are promoting a brand that from this comment section alone seems notorious. It’s not just one or two experiences from one or two Unite that you should consider when promoting brands. There is a difference between one or two good Unite buildings and you saying how good they are in your video. It seems overwhelmingly positive and ignores everyone’s experiences of it being awful. I find it extremely hard to believe that you haven’t seen any comments about it being awful from your research. If I were to watch this, go with this accommodation and it be horrific that would ruin my year at university. Which seems opposite of everything you’re trying to achieve on this RUclips Channel going by your videos over the last few years/book and everything. It’s all about making uni more accessible and letting other people have great experiences. Now it feels like you’re selling us an accommodation that is less than perfect so you can stay there for free. Hope you can see how we feel.

Muhammad Seedat it’s not about personal experience when you’re selling a product. Especially when there’s overwhelming bad experiences with that product. Yes there can be good and bad of everything but when it comes to an ‘Influencer’ using their platform to promote a product that could ruin somebodies year and waste thousands of pounds it’s not just okay to say “Well jack and a few other people had a great time”. No, there needs to be more research done and there also needs to be acknowledgments made about the other side of Unite. This video was only screaming and shouting about how good it is to live there... (not even as a student or even during term time). It’s completely one sided and full of false advertisements! I’d have the best time at Unite if I was staying in the centre of London for free in a jazzy suite! That isn’t the case for most people who go with Unite.
I’ll always have a little chip on my shoulder about Unite because they bought out one of Manchester’s best small music venues and are currently building more student accommodation on the site (which sucks big time for Manchester nightlife, but it’s business, I get it)- apart from the fact that the apartments they’re building are more of their ‘luxury’ suites that the vast majority of students could never afford. It’s a problem everywhere, I know, but the price of student accommodation is extortionate in Manchester these days (hence why I’m living off campus this year and commuting in every day instead!)

Well he’s going to be studying for his masters soon and it’s summer so I’m assuming that unite allows people to stay in accommodation that normally houses students in the academic year
@@codenameverity honestly ? Don't wanna spoil Jack's enthusiasm... But rather bad. I regretted it. I should have gone in a flat with 3/4 flatmates. We were 11, sharing a kitchen. Each of us had a ensuite room (11m²). The Kitchen was dirty af but I guess it depends on your flatmates.. If nobody respects the basic rules of living together it can quickly go bad... The staff wasn't helpful, merely useful. Being a very considerate person living with c***s the experience was bad for me. Besides, it was very expensive. Although we should not compare cities from different countries, for the same price in my hometown (Paris), I could have be alone in a 15m² or more.

@@TheChannelcheater what? really? as a 17 y.o. who's hoping to go to uni in a couple of years (in my country graduating is at 18/19) and I took a quick look at a few en-suite rooms and studios, and they start from 100 GBP and the studios from 130, is this 355+ you're talking about in London?
@@MartinBoduroff The price of the studios in the building Jack's currently in is £355-£399 a week (£18-20,000 a year!!). Considering even the *maximum* English student loan would only cover 2/3 of this, that is extortionate.
The building (Bristol) I stayed in in first year is now £150 or £170 a week for shared or en-suite respectively (and this is one of the cheaper buildings!), so definitely dependent on where you are in the country. Unite accommodations in the North of England would probably be cheaper than others across the country, but still expensive relative to the area.

Don’t you just hate it when your fav RUclipsrs become sellouts. Look at the comments and you can see what a mess Unite is. But housing in London is expensive so I can see why jack would do this to get free housing
I’m speaking from personal experience as I have now lived in Unite Students accommodation for a month - it’s not like I’m talking about something I know nothing about!! Everyone I’ve met who lives here in this building loves it!! However other people’s experiences are still valid which is why I haven’t deleted any comments or anything. Hope that makes sense :)
Jack Edwards but the problem is that whilst I understand that you’re speaking from personal experience you are promoting a brand that from this comment section alone seems notorious. It’s not just one or two experiences from one or two Unite that you should consider when promoting brands. There is a difference between one or two good Unite buildings and you saying how good they are in your video. It seems overwhelmingly positive and ignores everyone’s experiences of it being awful. I find it extremely hard to believe that you haven’t seen any comments about it being awful from your research. If I were to watch this, go with this accommodation and it be horrific that would ruin my year at university. Which seems opposite of everything you’re trying to achieve on this RUclips Channel going by your videos over the last few years/book and everything. It’s all about making uni more accessible and letting other people have great experiences. Now it feels like you’re selling us an accommodation that is less than perfect so you can stay there for free. Hope you can see how we feel.

Muhammad Seedat it’s not about personal experience when you’re selling a product. Especially when there’s overwhelming bad experiences with that product. Yes there can be good and bad of everything but when it comes to an ‘Influencer’ using their platform to promote a product that could ruin somebodies year and waste thousands of pounds it’s not just okay to say “Well jack and a few other people had a great time”. No, there needs to be more research done and there also needs to be acknowledgments made about the other side of Unite. This video was only screaming and shouting about how good it is to live there... (not even as a student or even during term time). It’s completely one sided and full of false advertisements! I’d have the best time at Unite if I was staying in the centre of London for free in a jazzy suite! That isn’t the case for most people who go with Unite.

I’ll always have a little chip on my shoulder about Unite because they bought out one of Manchester’s best small music venues and are currently building more student accommodation on the site (which sucks big time for Manchester nightlife, but it’s business, I get it)- apart from the fact that the apartments they’re building are more of their ‘luxury’ suites that the vast majority of students could never afford. It’s a problem everywhere, I know, but the price of student accommodation is extortionate in Manchester these days (hence why I’m living off campus this year and commuting in every day instead!)

I visited London a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. I haven't been to the Camden area yet - perhaps next time.
Highly recommend going earlier in the day because it gets super crowded and at night the scary people and crackhead come out 😅 also exploring the outside bits of Camden because it can get very touristy

@@codenameverity honestly ? Don't wanna spoil Jack's enthusiasm... But rather bad. I regretted it. I should have gone in a flat with 3/4 flatmates.
We were 11, sharing a kitchen. Each of us had a ensuite room (11m²). The Kitchen was dirty af but I guess it depends on your flatmates..
If nobody respects the basic rules of living together it can quickly go bad...
The staff wasn't helpful, merely useful.
Being a very considerate person living with c***s the experience was bad for me.
Besides, it was very expensive. Although we should not compare cities from different countries, for the same price in my hometown (Paris), I could have be alone in a 15m² or more.
Also : Jack has a studio so he is alone. He doesn't share anything. Guess the experience in that case is different
