- Here's my thoughts about the Jamma 19 in 1. Feel free to add your comments to this thread and check out my other pinball and video game arcade clips.
Update 10/11/11 - I saw this card under $100 now. It's about time!
Update 10/22/11 - I was given a fix for the Super Mario Brothers continue problem. Here's what I got:
"Hey there, I watched your video on the 19 in 1 board because I want to buy one and I wanted to comment on continuing a game of SMB. I have the 60 in 1 and ran into the same problem with continuing on 1943. What I did to get around it is take the board off of freeplay through the dip switches and set it to 1 quarter = 5 credits (or something like that). So, when you credit up, you now have 5 credits and can play the game and continue. It's kind of a pain because now you have to put quarters in but it does allow you to continue. Does that make sense? I don't have the 19 in 1 but I would imagine it is the same.
Maybe you already figured it out but I thought I'd share it with you. Let me know if it works because I think I want to buy one."
Thanks KLOVer. I will give it a shot (but I have to get the coin mechs rolling first). Thanks!
Update 12/21/11 - Rumor is that a newer 6-button 19in1 board is available that will fix add hyperspace to Defender and hyperspace/inviso to Stargate. This is UNVERIFIED unless some cool vendor wants to trade me a new board for my old one. :)
its amazing how much the price has dropped since this filmed
@Dave: Not a stupid question. Not going to be able to do it on a Vertical screen. Sorry. get the 60-in-1 for your vertical machine and find a Horizontal cab for your 19-in-1 and that way you have many of the classics. Enough to keep most people busy.
Your Mario Brother's screen said please "insert coin" to continue. So I would imagine you need to enter a credit at that point. Let me know if that works b/c I am really close to buying one of those boards.
I like both of them
@kporter946 I'm getting the 19 in 1 board today - mainly for mario. Thanks for this hot tip dude, I'm gonna give it a go. Thanks.
I cannot get the High Score save to work for Defender , is it possible to save the high scores on Defender when you turn off the machine and have them saved once you turn it back on using the 19-1 card ?
Thanks for the info. I ordered one of these boards to go in my magic sword cab that I added multijamma to.
debating on buying 19 in 1 and placing it in a video poker machine i found on face book for $75 for my youngest sons bed room he is always playing my 60 in 1 sure he will love this
i noticed when you were playing the mario brothers game and at the end it said continue i noticed it was saying insert coin i think to continue you would need to push the start button again to be able to continue.
@dav160370 Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the "Defender" reverse control is wonky ESPECIALLY since they dedicate a button for it already. In the hat of battle, it's too easy to accidentally reverse direction on the joystick. I am still bummed that here is no Inviso or Hyperspace on my setup.
However, the sounds are good. I have never owned another multi-Wiliiams board to compare, but the 19 in 1 definately has much better sound than the 60 in 1.
@jpicard It does - no worries. Robotron is very faithful on this setup.
Did you ever get the continue figured out? I have the same issue cant figure it out.
Interesting about the Hyperspace button not available. I found button 5 to work when I soldered it on my Jamma Harness :) I have hyperspace in my version. Maybe this is an older board.
Correct! This was the first 19in1 board. Newer boards are better than this one!
you need a credit to continue but i think you know that by now :)
Hey, so do I have to wire in the stupid coin door just to continue a game???? The 60in1 uses the good old fire+start, does not work here. HWELP!!!
Clever Idea for the continue fix. I just got my 19 in 1 board last week and love it!!. I was having the same propblem and puting a coing in during free play while on the continue screen did not work like I previously suggested. I bot the 4switch pcb that has all 6 buttons they work great. So I have hyperspace in defender and invisbility as the 6th button on StarGate.
Did you need to replace the power supply when installing this PCB? I've read online that you need to replace the PSU on the 60 in 1 board, so didn't know if this was the same. Thanks
I didn't need to when I installed this board...so it all depends what you are plugging this into.
Do the new factory built 60 in 1 have the same issues with sound or has this been corrected? seems Ike a $1900 machine should sound and play like the original.? Great videos btw!
SticksNkicks if your buying a machine that has a 50$ 60 in 1 board in it for 1900$ then your getting scammed
I'd agree with Nike Boy below. 60in1 games are under $1000 in my neck of the woods. The build quality is key since the board is so inexpensive!
The quality of the cabinet has nothing to do with sound. LOL It is a mere car speaker up there, The 19in1 is still jacked up. I have a brand new one and I had to turn sound down all the way and have to cram a rag into the speaker.
@Rob and @Dave why not build a cabinet with a rotatable screen and 2 bezels? works for me :) p.s. If you try to run vertical video through a video card to render as horizontal, you will lose frames. Even though they are not noticeable to the naked eye, the action in the game is a little sluggish. Hope this helps.
Did you try just hooking up a credit button. player 1 credit is #16 on the parts side of the jamma harness. Just hook that to a spare button and run a ground to it from one of the other buttons on the daisy chain.
@bcgameguide you could always lock the joystick in two way for defender so this doesn't happen... make the whole control panel on a lockable hinge so u can do this. I have this already on a cocktail cab, so you can play pacman , rally x etc with 4 way, then left the control panel lock in 8 way to play others like Xevious etc.
Yeah I am really wanting to get that board but I need a cool 2 player cabinet to put it in preferably one of the games thats on their. I have the 18-1 CPS2 multi which is flawless, the 60-1 which is great and the 302-1 Happy Fish V2 which runs the NEO GEO games good but the rest aren't so good. Remember that the ground goes on the tab that sticks out and the wire for pin 16 will go on the middle tab. Good Luck!
@kporter946 It has been reported (but not verified by me) that inserting coins would FIX the continue problem I had. You would need to take the card OFF of "Free Play" and then add physical coins to continue. I don't have coin mechs in my machine so I do not have the ability to check this one. My source is from a user on KLOV and I have no reason to doubt him unless he is trying to sell a crap-ton of 19 in 1 PCBs. :)
i'm looking for a defender and stargate jamma board. does any one knows one
@andersonfamilyvideos ok thats good... I am still not sold as you need all the buttons for Defender... :(
Can I set this board to just boot up to robotron like I can with my 60 in 1? I am restoring a Robotron cabinet I have and do not want to fuss with original board so I am either going to mame it or add one of these but I want to skip the menu and just boot to Robotron.
Which games actually play 2 players at the same time? And are there any other games that require the coin button to continue besides super Mario bros?
Joust and mario bros.
You mentioned that Robotron is not as customizable as the original dedicated board. In what ways is the 19in1 robotron different?
You can change a few settings, but the original Robotron board has LOTS of customization with lives and difficulty.
On this 19 in 1, is the robotron played with buttons or both joysticks
sadly it wont hold your initials when you get the high score
other than that it plays robotron great
I'm sure this is a STUPID question but I'm just starting here. Got a Multi-PCB Jamma Board. How can I set it up to play Joust, Defender, Robotron on a Vertical screen?
@Zantor135 I believe so.
How would this look hooked up to a widescreen LCD monitor? Would it stretch the image?
@andersonfamilyvideos I will report it works great as a Robotron CPU replacement, I do hear that the 60 in one runs faster so is harder. But in my opinion unless you are training for Guinness or Twin Galaxies record this will do just fine. Game comes on fast before monitor even fires up. I am happy with it and much simpler and cheaper then Original GPU. Not for the purist but if you are purist you have no business watching this video anyway.
you need two joysticks for robotron... if it doesn't support this.. then its no good!
How do you get into the system menu
@kporter946 My friend Greg might be over this week and try it w/me. It would be nice to verify this! I'll post an update it we get it rolling. Thanks!
8 way or 4 way joystick ?
