    seriously who dunks it better than this man-
    there may be higher, more powerful, whatever- but this guy does the ordinary and makes it extraordinary. he cokcs back fully, he cuffs it completely, his windmills are complete, and his emphasis on his dunks, his punctuation is ill. i don't know any dunker who looks better than this man here. perfect. if there is anyone better- let me know please - i have to see it!

      Facts

  • @SKarea51
    @SKarea51 10 лет назад +60

    The only guy with true 55"+ vert. I do not believe he does not practise the dunks, there is a lot of science behind proper take off, but clearly genetics plays a huge role.

    • @06sk8nsurf
      @06sk8nsurf 9 лет назад +3

      SKarea51 true he's probably got the biggest vert but its not 55+

    • @SKarea51
      @SKarea51 9 лет назад +10

      06sk8nsurf Well, he's 5'9'' = 69''. Basket is at 120''. That is 51'' difference. I bet he was couple times app 4'' with his head above the rim so that would make it 55''. But I admit it could have been the camera angle. On the other hand, there are so many guys who claim 48+ vert yet they are closer to 38''. E.g. Jordan, Pippen etc. No disrespect, I'm a big fan of MJ and co. MJ has some crazy hoops with style and elegance and Pippen is a great ball player, but they should stop these BS romours about their vert, especially Pippen, who i think has a maxt vert of 30 - he has freakisly long arms and his standing reach is more than 8'11 he claims, i bet it is more like 9'2'' or 9'3'', so he needs to jump less than 20'' to make a great dunk.

    • @stormspinner9000
      @stormspinner9000 9 лет назад +2

      SKarea51 I don't think anybody believed pippens claims anyway

    • @joshuadiaz2330
      @joshuadiaz2330 4 года назад

      @@SKarea51 I agree with everything else you've said except for the whole "Jordan myth" on his vertical. I'm not a huge Jordan fan....I've never even owned a pair of Jordans but I have done my research on vertical leaps. I know there's a lot of exaggerations with Jordans vertical but he had a bare minimum of a 43 inch running vertical. When you say Jordan had a 30 inch vertical, maybe you mean a standing vertical? Because I know for a fact that he's reached a 45 inch running Max vertical leap just from in game dunks & dunk contest footage. He may not have an average 47-50 inch running vertical but he was at the very least 43 inches, if not 45 inches off the ground.

    • @SKarea51
      @SKarea51 4 года назад

      @@joshuadiaz2330 hi there. I did not mean MJ as an example, I meant Scottie. He is up there with 50" vert next to Michael in the made up max vert tables. Yes MJ was special, he could jump equally well from one foot and 2 feet. Because he had a late growth spurt he probably worked really hard on his vert and with 4-5'' extra height he became a "biest". With great style people copy even today. So yeas MJ could have 47 running one foot vert and may be 42 two feet jump. But no way Scottie, he is just the longest basketball player I ever saw, even there are no numbers about his standing reach. But he is 6'8'', good 3 inches taller than MJ and his arms end at the level of his knees... Easily 9'3'' standing reach. So he will be able to dunk as an 80 years old (he is still skinny and probably will stay like it forever) he needs less than 20'' vert to easily dunk..

    On another matter I would like to see dunks directed and discussed- with the same level of intelligence and technical knowledge as gymnastics and diving, especially of course in the dunk contest. instead of "wow- he dunked it hard!" - we deserve better commentary and observation- like how many revolutions the guy does, whether the guy has done a proper windmill or whehter they side cuff it, whether they properly punctuate it or whether they just nestle it in, whether they pump their legs, or if their legs are just dangling there. its been 30 years- man time for our judging and understanding of dunk artistry to get up a level- and in doing so- the dunks will improve also, I'm sure. thats right, I'm blaming shit commentary on any shit dunks from henceforth on kenny smith.

    Bro, because of the whole “top of the head” actual way of measuring, it’s safe to say if someone was 5'9 forehead height, then because most heads are at least having 1 1/8 inch difference between the forehead and the dome of it, T-Dub would actually be anywhere between a confident 5'10 1/8 to 5'11 1/2.
    Also, did he get measured to the forehead or the dome, or highest point of it?
