In their heyday they were just classed as a bunch of geeks who didn't play real music and it only appealed to other geeks who were into electronics and computers...and now they have become absolute legends in their genre...I have listened to and watched them from the late 70s and could never have imagined that they would become so popular and have so much appeal to a wider audience especially here in 2014....it is brilliant!!.
I just turned 20 not too long ago, and I absolutely love electronic music. These guys are very unique to listen to. I wish more people my age knew of this!
They do, they just don't know it. Not much of the modern electronic dance music would exist if it wasn't for these guys. Sure, Tangerine Dream, Jarre et al also pioneered it, but they had quite a different approach which, I believe, wouldn't have triggered the dance music as much as Kraftwerk did.
I think the American music academy gave them an honorary Grammy a couple of years ago in recognition of pioneering electronic music. So at least they get how important they are.

+Atackamaz I disagree. The Beatles were the most successful band of their era, but they were copycats, just pushing the sound other bands invented. They were no innovators until VERY late in their career. Kraftwerk were real pioneers, doing stuff no one else did before.
Pointless comparison if you ask me. The Beatles are the first truly great pop-band and have had a huge influence on songwriting since the 1960s up til now, Kraftwerk were experimental geniuses and the most influential electronic pioneers of their time (although certainly not the only ones), they influenced every electronic genre since the late 1970s. The history of pop music would never have been the same without either of them, so it seems a bit useless to argue that because Kraftwerk are good, The Beatles must be bad. It doesn't work like that.

My favourite Kraftwerk's track in its best version!
Watching Kraftwerk perform live is incredible. . . and for this event, majestic.
The Pet Shop Boys, DM, electronic, New Order, Tears for fears, OBLITERATE these GOOFS...Hands Down !! The PSB, especially OBLITERATE these GOOFS...Remember, kraftwerk, has never made one beautiful song...A few PSB beautiful songs are, headmaster, numb, young offender, closer to heaven : slow version and miracles...Balls in your court, to TRY and prove me wrong...Just saying and U Take Care :):)
i love the part in the beginning where they're listing the radioactive regions
Good Version! Band from my Hometown :) Love them!
Just watched live in Hollywood bowl last Sunday, thrilled!
Holy crap. These guys have been at it for like 40 years.
Siete bellissimi ..
I basically always return to torture myself with the sadness and power of the track combined with the change to fit the current narrative and the fact they sing in Japanese
This is the type of music I love producing and listening to.
Such awesome technology behind it all! Their neon suits make them look like they're part of their own screen!
At least, from my childhood favourite band is still exists, that's enough for me. A deep respect from India.
When I first heard this, couple of years ago, I've gotten chills when it said Fukushima!
me too!
best electronic musicians because they can be independent their music and original + global
i saw this show live and its a very special and stunning experience to see the best german act ever....they have made music history like beethoven or the beatles...
the beatles r nothing compared with KRAFTWERK
I was very active in DC - my best tagging was "NO NUKES" on the ramp to Georgetown. It was there for years...
I wonder which city name they use next to update their lyrics ...
Poggibonsi
earth?
Plexpara Now we know it: It's Sendai ... the Japaneese managed to turn on their nuclear power on again. A nuclear plant in an earth quake region nearby an active vulcano ... if aliens could see us they would piss off and declare our solar system as a no-go-ground-zero area ...
Tihange?
Maybe the place where Kim Jong Un tests his rockets after something go wrong
Thank you for the music Kraftwerk! Forever in my heart! ❤️
true legends will never die
Together for so long, from Germany, there music, their time was so far ahead, and Germany can be proud of the achievements of Kraftwerk, danka
Shivers down my spine, absolutely beautiful and poignant
Radioaktivität = Eine meiner ersten Platten.
RIP Florian ... Du wirst eine Legende bleiben
the Beatles of the electronic.
+Atackamaz sorry but the Beatles did not to Music what Kraftwerk did to Music.
It is a metaphor , man.
+Atackamaz Fuck the Beatles
True Legends and have had their music stolen by every artist from the last 40yrs. PURE SOUND
How many people know that Morse code in song translates to lyric ?
That's how deep kraftwerk is !
It is amazing how much rhetoric Kraftwerk packs into their music and performance while using such apolitical lyrics and imagery.
Saw these guys on Saturday at the latitude festival they were brilliant
I could cry watching this version here.
Oder of 🇩🇪 Du hast recht!
I love this version
The basic trouble with "radioactivitet" is
It's funky
I never saw this song before and what amazes me is that Live in Tokyo they understood The Telegraph scene in regards to the WW2 Bombing of Japan! And the old times, Times of Miscommunication..
Kraftwerk, the Godfathers of the electronic music. !!!!! RIP Master Florian ...
Awesome performers. Awesome music. Timeless.
Kraftwerk said it 1975
Kraftwerk still say it.
Stop radioactivity
chernobil was in 1986
Miklós Németh whats the point of your comment?
Mr. Robattaz The cannot say Chernobyl in 1975
The song wasn't originally meant to be against nuclear energy, it was later they decide to give it a message.
And the "Tschernobyl, Harrisburg, Sellafield, Hiroshima" is only in live versions.
Antoine Henri Becquerel (15 December 1852 - 25 August 1908) was a French physicist, Nobel laureate, and the first person to discover evidence of radioactivity.
