2:37 listening this part again made me realize the hidden string note that has each tempo marker. It's a very clever but important piece for the entire build up because when we reach that part of the track the rest of the pieces began to progressively transpose up, making it easy for the average listener to lose the tonic note (Base note of the track E minor) and when it reach the drop the listener got surprised with the dubstep bass coming back in E minor. Well, sorry if it's too much text, it's just my musical analysis of this masterpiece Anyway, very clever, Excision, very clever...❤
If the level editor for Just Shapes & Beats comes out I'm definitely making this into a level, kinda like an alien invasion type theme with this one. My plan would be: 0:00 - 0:10 An asteroid comes spinning and crash landing while spitting out pellets. 0:13 Crashes and pellets spew out from the bottom of the screen. 0:17 - 0:30 Pillars of light come out of the bottom of the screen as it starts to pan down. 0:34 - 0:52 Panning goes faster as 3 laser beams are shot out the asteroid at different places. 0:53 It explodes and pink versions of the playable shapes appear and start attacking in different ways. 0:56 The Pentagon attack: rotates and moves while launching pillars from each face. 1:01- 1:09 The Circle attack: pulses expanding dash-able hollow circles that expand out the screen. 1:101:23 The Triangle attack: dashes quickly across the screen in a random pattern. 1:23 - 1:27 The triangle dashes and draws a large Cube at the top of the screen. 1:27 - 1:45 The Cube attack: Pink blocks come in from both sides of the screen at random. 1:46 Giant cube starts dashing across the screen at different places while blocks keep appearing. 2:02 the Cube bursts and the level finishes.
i'm assuming it's because of the high amount of progression in the song, while they may come back there isn't much time outside of what i guess would be the chorus spent on 1 musical idea, and even in the chorus this same sort of musical diversity is present, meaning this song is really easy to get invested into.

A bunch of you are probably going to scoff at me for being one of those "OMG DESTROID HE MADE ANNIHILATE FROM JSB!!!11" kind of people but I actually have an idea I think is pretty cool for a JSB level using this song. I feel like they could make a bonus Boss Battle level that you have to S rank all the previous Story Mode bosses to unlock. After you S ranked the last boss you needed, a cinematic would show up wear the Boss wearing his might blue headphones would pop up from the Level Select menu and pink text would appear under it and say something like "So...I see all these bossfights aren't challenging enough for you, huh? I can show you what a real challenge looks like if your up for it." After the small cutscene, a new special level would be unlocked called "Funk Hole", and of course would use this song. The boss battle would start out with the Boss with his headphones doing some basic attacks but alot of them for a while until the song turns slow and he starts to charge up and eventually he will suck up all three of the triangles from the tree and right before the bass drops he turns into the mighty Annihilate boss, only this time he looks like he's patched up the damage you've done to him in Til It's Over. The drop hits after the words "GET BACK" show up in pink text on the bottom of the screen similar to "YOU HAVE BEEN DESTROYED" in Annihilate. Not only would he be the Anhilliate boss the entire level but he would transform into his previous New Game/Final boss form as well as some old bosses such as Lycantrophy, Barracuda, and even Close to Me. He uses all of their attacks but with way more bullet hell and overlapping of attacks than last time. The song would last the entire duration and the final part before the conclusion would be purely Annihilate boss on crack. The conclusion would result in the triangles reverting back and transforming him back into the original boss with headphones, only for him to shoot his arm at you in fours a few more times before mishoots and they all go right towards him just like Long Live The New Fresh and he falls down the screen, definitely taught a lesson. The Boss will not actually be dead as this is not a Story level and the conclusion of the level does not kill him, it rather just harms him with no real effect on the Story Mode. But yeah, that's just my small little level idea I got when I was way too deep into thought listening to this. ...if you really stuck around to read all of that then I'm impressed.
