Dietitian here. I worked at a job where my clients were fresh out of prison. I had to teach them how to make a food budget and cook healthy meals. Many of the guys were incarcerated since they were teenagers and now they're middle-aged or older. OMG the stories they told me of what they cooked for themselves in prison: 1. Manwich = Take a pack of Top Ramen and run the noodle brick under hot water in the sink to soften them up but try to keep them in the compact shape. Place the softened noodles between 2 slices of white bread. Sprinkle the seasoning packet over the noodles and crush up a whole bunch of Doritos or Cheetos to add some texture to the noodles. 2. Tamales = Take a bag of Doritos or Fritos and crush them up inside the bag until they are a powder. Pour in really hot water to make it like a dough. Add a can of corned beef hash or canned shredded beef. Top with a packet of hot sauce Needless to say I had my work cut out for me at that job. It was interesting as hell to learn how creative people can be when they have lots of time on their hands and little resources.
Granted, the nutritional profile in those 'dishes' probably screamed for more. However, in college, I probably did worse. Just saying. Thanks mostly to my wife, it's much better now.
The “tamales” recipe doesn’t sound too bad. Did anyone tell you about pruno AKA prison wine? I heard that it’s disgusting but guys drink it because it will get them drunk.
It is a norm in Asian countries like in Taiwan to have salt on apples to prevent browning of the apples just like in North America putting lemon juice on apples to prevent browning so I grew up on that combo, but not black pepper
Are they doing it right? I mix the sour cream and sugar together & let it sit for 5 minutes. The sour cream thins out into this thick liquid, makes it taste like you liquefied a caramel cheesecake. Or a plain cheesecake if you use granulated sugar.
@H2_O2 From Northern California wine country. But this dessert comes from my Mom's side. Her mother was an Armenian immigrant, her dad was Cree and Swedish. I always assumed the recipe came from the Swedish side of the family.

Blueberry grilled cheese! Use good quality bread, butter one side of each slice of bread, layer slices of brie cheese, blueberry preserves, a handful of fresh blueberries, then another layer of sliced brie cheese. Grill in a skillet or use a panini press. Delicious!
Try Chocolate covered (fried) bacon, peach jam/marmalade and Ementaler cheese on top (very often is eaten in Switzerland ). Also Avocado and chocolate mousse, Extra virgin olive oil on top of ice cream, pizza and ranch sauce, siracha sauce and peanut butter, PB cups and Lemon Sorbet, Balsamic vinegar and Ice cream, creamed corn and mashed potatoes, chili and cinnamon rolls, Cereals and orange juice, Ham and cheese and Jelly, French fries and mayo (add garlic powder in mayo by your taste), Hot chocolate and cayenne pepper powder , Vanilla ice cream and black pepper, white bean Chili (not a vegetable but dish) and greek yogurt....
Try peanut butter and bologna sandwich, Yummy! Also my favorite fruit dip is equal parts cream cheese and marshmallow fluff! Delicious on almost any fruit. Great with strawberries! 🙂
One of our local pizza places here in Atlantic Canada makes desert pizzas thar are really good. On top of the pizza dough, put either canned apple pie or blueberry pie filling, cook it and once it comes out of the oven, to put royal icing on top. It is sooo good! I’d highly recommend it!
GREEN apples and salt are a good nosh NOT PEPPER! lol Strawberry and cream cheese is AWESOME. Truly try your favorite pizzeria ask them to make a cheese Pineapple, Pepperoni and pickled JALAPENO pizza! Have a pepsi with it or root beer it is again awesome. Also I want Alessio to try a Mexican favorite made by Spanish nuns, which is "Chicken Mole Negro" it is made with over 20 ingredients but it is Chocolate, a variety of chilies sometimes roasted, sometimes a variety of nuts, sometimes raisins sesame seeds on top only the best Mexican Restaurants know how to make it. It is unbelievably good!

Peanut Butter, Banana and Mayonnaise sandwich. Grilled American cheese sandwich with grape or strawberry jelly on top (NOT inside the sandwich). When I was pregnant, I dipped M&Ms in mustard. Haven't done it since. Raisins and peanut butter on ... celery or crackers. Add banana on the side.
I can 't stand salt on anything BUT I do like it on my apples, watermelon and cantaloupe. I've NEVER seen or heard of anyone putting pepper on apples though and I don't think I'll be trying that one.
Our whole family loves peanut butter and cucumber sandwiches. You get the saltiness of the peanut butter and the freshness of the cucumber. Don’t knock it until you try it!
I LOVE mixing smooth mashed potatoes, cooked frozen/canned/fresh corn with butter, salt, black pepper, and yellow mustard to taste! It’s literally so delicious
HIghly requesting your reviews of the following combinations: 1) Scrambled eggs with melted peanut butter 2) Vanilla ice cream with BBQ potato chips 3) Steamed sticky rice with melted peanut butter and red pepper chili flakes 4) Grilled chicken dipped in blueberry greek yogurt 5) Grilled cheese sandwich with Ghiradelli milk chocolate squares 6) Cool Ranch doritos dipped in clam chowder
I have eaten peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches since I was a child. I put peanut butter on both slices of bread and then put the pickles in. Although watching this, I'm thinking Bagel with cream cheese and flamin hot cheetoos on one side and peanut butter and pickles on the other. Then press the two sides together.
When I was little my mother used to make us eat two strange kinds of peanut butter sandwiches, one was peanut butter and mayonnaise and the other peanut butter, jelly and American cheese slices. Another thing and I love it, sliced strawberries with a little sour cream and honey mixed together. In one pregnancy I craved tuna with chucks of dill pickle and black olives AND a McDonald's Shamrock Shake. Try BBQ chips dipped in mustard and or cottage cheese. It really is good!
What I do with strawberries and cream is use either vanilla or plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Mixed with the sugar as a dip. You just mix it the night before and the next morning the brown sugar dissolves. Tasty ❤
Never tried it with b&b pickles, but a Belgian dude got me hooked on sweet gherkins and PB sandwiches. Now i use crunchy Sunbutter because my immune system hates peanuts, but it's even better! Have a lovely weekend, Linda 🤍🙏🕊
I tried sweet pickles, but I really hate them. Since lately the stores around Europe also carry rather the sweet pickles, I rather make my own with only salt.
I'm going to claim user error on one of the strawberry combos. You mix the sour cream at a 2:1 ratio, by volume, with the sugar, no matter what kind of sugar you're using. You can go as high as 1:1, but you have to _really_ like your sugar for that. Once you mix it together fully, let it sit for 5 minutes. The sugar pulls the moisture out of the sour cream, melts, and turns the whole thing into a thick liquid and THAT is your dip. Works for any sweet fruit, because it tastes like liquid cheesecake. When I want something really decadent, I dollop some over bananas that I've caramelized in salted butter over a low flame. NOTE: This will be too rich for most.
I lived in the Dominican Republic for a few years. The first time I saw Chicken sitting in a pan of chocolate sauce, I thought i'd get sick! It ended up being delicious!! 😅 I enjoy your YT channel so much! My hubby is Italian and i'm not! Best relationship I've ever had. Going on 22 years!!
My weird food combinations.. I like tater tots broken up into white rice with butter and spicy Szechuan sauce. And also eating bits of cheddar cheese with my popcorn. 🙈😂
As someone that grew up in Europe I've always found the peanut butter and jelly sandwich a weird combo 😅😅 In my family we do eat a lot of dishes that are a combination of boiled or steamed veggies and potatoes, with some kind of meat in gravy (and our gravy isn't that thick, its more watery and always made from/with the meat, which then continues to stew for a bit in that gravy) And then we tend to grab some of everything and mash it togheter on our own plate, so we essentially get a bit of a Dutch "stamppot". Whenever we have red cabbage or white cabbage, also boiled in salted water, we do the same thing, mash it toghether with cooked potatoes, some gravy and usually theres meatballs with it that we also mash right into it. (The meat isn't always incorporated, we also eat that on the side a lot) And then we put apple sauce into our cabbage/potato/meatball mash and its soooo good 😅😁
My apartment-mates and I during our undergrad years went through a phase where we tried Nutella on EVERYTHING! I don't think we had any 100% failures back then. 🙄 Even as a dip for "summer sausage" (Hickory Farms?) it was delicious. I mean everything (literally) becomes better with Nutella! As an aside(weird food combo, but without Nutella), my apartment-mates discovered a surprisingly delicious, yet unexpected combo: Nacho cheese Doritos with peanut butter and grape jelly. The idea was gross, but it was better than expected! You cannot substitute anything or it fails -grape jelly (not jam or any others flavors), original fllavored Doritos and smooth peanut butter. LoL. Oh, college! 😅
When I was a kid in PA, 75 years ago... pre-Fritos, NO junk food but potato chips existed. But I LOVED my Peter Pan p'nut butter & pickle sandwiches. Other kids in my lunch-room ALWAYS wanted "to TRADE" !!!
Never did brown sugar, but my family mixed berries with sour cream and sugar all the time. Not dipping, but actually mixed up in a bowl so the sugar actually sweetens the cream. Delicious! I thought it was a Russian thing growing up because I’ve never seen anyone else do this! You should give it another try
I’ve never heard of peanut butter and pickles, but I used to do cream cheese and pickle sandwiches as a kid and loved them. Still like the combo as an adult, but can’t justify an entire sandwich of just those two. Thanks for the giggles!
The best pnut butter sandwich is: raisin/cinnamon bread, thick layer of crunchy pnut butter, a good amount of Miracle Whip and a lot of iceberg lettuce!!! Perfect! Thank you for your videos! :D
For me is just a weird combination peanut butter with marmalade and pizza Margherita with maionese 😫😫 you should try potato chips dipped into coca-cola ( an Italian grand mother invented it, I don't like cola & Pepsi). You should try pickle with honey it's good. Apple, salt & pepper it's like a normal combination if you think that you add it into salads.
Tuna fish and prune sandwich. Cut a nice sourdough baguette in half. Spread some tuna (I use chunk light packed in water). Add pitted prunes all over. Cover with the other half baguette. Enjoy.
We always eat strawberries & sour cream on Belgian waffles. Macerate some strawberries with sugar in a bowl until all the juices come out (you can buy this pre-made too)... toast your Belgian waffle to crispy..then top with the strawberries (and don't forget to add the syrupy juices too!) and a dollop or 2 of sour cream...its actually delish!
My weird combos is grilled cheese sandwich with mustard and bread and butter pickles or cold vermicelli with sundried tomato salad dressing and cucumbers or scrambled eggs with soy sauce. Constantly whisk the eggs while they are cooking then make a well in the center, pour in a bit of soy sauce and continue whisking.....absolutely delicious!!!
Ya know .. sometimes people on the internet just be trollin'! :D Not surprised by the prevalence of pickles ... but am surprised by the lack of bacon, jalapenos, onions, and spray cheese.
Pear with cheese is a traditional combination in Italy. I think the weird combinations that you are testing in this video were made from kids by accident or pregnant woman.
1) Fresh White toast bread (not toasted though) - with peanut butter with sliced sweet onions or the long green onions (shallots) 2) half avocado - put white sugar over it or Nutella 3) sliced Granny Smith apples, dipped in just salt or tajin 4) toasted bagel with cream cheese and strawberry jam There are probably more combinations and I’ll keep you posted
I like the strawberry, sour cream and brown sugar combo. Also good with pears. You can mix the sour cream and sugar together to make a dip consistency which is a little sweeter. Maybe you got too much sour cream. My dad loves peanut butter and pickle sandwiches.
How about these famous Risottos with champagne and pasta with strawberries? In Russian cuisine the weirdest mixture of tastes are in a cold soup which is called "Okroshka": we have a fizzy drink made from bread and yeast - Kvass and it is mixed cold with mortadella type of salami, boiled potatoes, radish, coriander and some other veggies.Kvass can be replaced with Kefir, Kefir is a fizzy drink from milk made by adding yeast to it. Kefir we buy, we dont make it at home, Kvass can be purchased or made at home if you have time.
A good sweet strawberry with sour cream is delicious. Also lays plain potato chips in sour cream. Oh and have you tried spicy scrambled pork sausage (drained), a can of rotel and Velveeta cooked together? Great with chips!
This looked fun to try. The bagel cream cheese a flaming hots sound good. My favorite is taco bell cinnamon twists dipped in sour cream. Tastes like cheese cake.
You need to try Miracle Berries with lemons, citrus fruit, balsamic vinegar. Miracle berries contain a compound called miraculin that temporarily changes your sense of taste.
apples and salt, while not my favourite, is not bad. Try apples with cinnamon. Also try vanilla ice cream and plain lays potato chips - sweet and salty - yum!
Apples and pineapples are often paired with pork, and especially spicy or smoky pork. The apples & cheese combo works - I prefer raw apple slices or wedges with fine cheddars, but I know some folks use cheese wedges on top of hot apple pie.
I think of split-and-grilled spicy pork sausages set onto a pineapple-glaze - or even better, pineapple-orange glaze. Or sausages topped with apple sauce, a typical German style dish.
Try the apple slices with pepper and just a baby pinch of salt and lime or lemon juice. WAY BETTER. Or baby carrots & salami with fresh squeezed lime on it!
Strawberries and sour cream are actually a thing in Austria, or used to be - my grandmother would make that, cut up the strawberries and mix them with sour cream and sugar (like you would mix them with yogurt). But sour cream differs a lot from country to country. Maybe it is salted in the US? Ours isn't and actually goes quite well with sweet stuff, although it's more often used for savoury dishes.
Try a grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Just make your sandwich and brush melted butter on both sides and grill it on both sides. Sooo good 💯😊 Much Love and Many Blessings ❤️ 🙏
I grew up eating strawberries with sour cream (with sugar) not that unusual. Same having a cream cheese and strawberry jam sandwich. But you guys, you could try the weirdest combinations that taste like something else (plenty of ideas online) such as: cucumber with sugar tastes like watermelon!
Applesauce on pizza, you really need to get a thin crust frozen pizza to make it work. I think it started in Indiana from German immigrants - at least that's how my family started doing it. But I may be mistaken. But, you take a semi-bad frozen pizza (which one isn't?) with crispy thin crust, and instead of putting it on top, you put it on the side. Then when the pizza is too hot or lacks flavor, you dredge it, or dip it, like college kids might do with ranch dressing. It cools it down and adds a sweet note. Homemade applesauce doesn't work on the frozen pizzas, you need Musselmann's or Mott's, not chunky good applesauce. No cinnamon. Plain. I would never put it on a delivery pizza, or a homemade pizza, or heaven forbid, an actual Italian pizza. But, I kind of like it on a Jack's or a Red Baron.
All these food combos make my palate sound timid: fried baloney sandwiches, french toast sandwiches, raisin pastry and cheese on pancakes/waffles. I need to live a little.
Take a good kosher, dill, or sour whole pickle coat the outside of pickle with cream cheese, and then use thinly slice of Ham or prosciutto wrap 1 or 2 times cut pickle in single serving side using a toothpick to hold today. Yummy and a huge hit at party for hors d’oeuvres.
I like that you're trying new things. I saw toast with cheese and jam on Bluey and thought " that looks gross" . Then I tried it just to not be a hypocrite to my kids. It's now a go to snack . My favorite is blueberry jam with habanero jack cheese. You can just toast the bread or the whole thing together both ways are tasty IMO.
I call that a jam 'n jack sandwich. (To pronounce it right you have to say it fast) I usually use standard pepper jack and strawberry jam, but blueberry and habanero jack sounds good too. You can also add a slice of ham and call it a ham 'n jam 'n jack.
I hate sugar or sweetness in general on my meat or vegetables like they eat very often in Asia. - On the other hand I recently salted my watermelon and I really loved it!!!
I grew up & still live in NC & my parents were born & raised in NC & both my family & myself have lived in multiple states in the US & with ex-husband & I have lived in Asia & I haven't seen any of these combos. Like mayonnaise(not too much) & sliced banana on white sandwich bread or mayonnaise & Lay's potato chips(original) other flavors might be better but I haven't tried any other flavors). We have Neese's Sausage here but they also make Liver Pudding(liver mush) that is a rectangle of precooked liver that we slice kinda thin & fry until nicely browned & we had it on the side with eggs & other breakfast items or we would make a sandwich / biscuit with or without egg on it & just a little mustard or whatever u like. My mom made us ants on a log which is peanut butter MIXED WELL with a little mayonnaise & fill up a cleaned celery stalk & add a slight line of raisins on top of the peanut butter mixture to look like ants on a log🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜😄 Sounds gross but we loved it. We loved peanut butter & banana sandwiches all the time & made these large old timey looking pb & banana cookies she called Johnny Cakes that had the pb & bananas between the large flat cookies & then wrapped then in wax paper or saran wrap & in a few hours the cookies got soft & they were really good too. Then we had a dessert that had crushed pretzels & strawberry Jello it was really great when she wasn't making us chocolate delight or fruit cobblers & every other southern mamma's good cooking list of specialties. 😂😋💜🙏

Waternelon with fresh lime juice drizzled over it - tastes like a narguerita!
Try baking a cheese pizza with sliced Granny Smith apples, the sweet and savory are reallly good together
I enjoy your YT channel so much! My hubby is Italian and i'm not! Best relationship I've ever had. Going on 22 years!!
My weird food combinations.. I like tater tots broken up into white rice with butter and spicy Szechuan sauce. And also eating bits of cheddar cheese with my popcorn. 🙈😂
As someone that grew up in Europe I've always found the peanut butter and jelly sandwich a weird combo 😅😅
In my family we do eat a lot of dishes that are a combination of boiled or steamed veggies and potatoes, with some kind of meat in gravy (and our gravy isn't that thick, its more watery and always made from/with the meat, which then continues to stew for a bit in that gravy) And then we tend to grab some of everything and mash it togheter on our own plate, so we essentially get a bit of a Dutch "stamppot". Whenever we have red cabbage or white cabbage, also boiled in salted water, we do the same thing, mash it toghether with cooked potatoes, some gravy and usually theres meatballs with it that we also mash right into it. (The meat isn't always incorporated, we also eat that on the side a lot)
And then we put apple sauce into our cabbage/potato/meatball mash and its soooo good 😅😁
Mashed potatoes with cottage cheese. Amazing. Even the whole hot cold combo is delicious.
Also dipping a grilled cheese sandwich in applesauce 🤤
Your videos always brings a smile to my face. Such positive vibes from both of you.
Ya'll are the cutest couple. Whenever I'm having a bad day I watch one of your videos and it cheers me up.
When I was a kid in PA, 75 years ago... pre-Fritos, NO junk food but potato chips existed. But I LOVED my Peter Pan p'nut butter & pickle sandwiches. Other kids in my lunch-room ALWAYS wanted "to TRADE" !!!
There are people who can't eat without a dip. I think it is a recessive racoon gene. Marijuana may have been in the creative process.
I agree! I am so sick of all the dips people use for everything. And ketchup is the worst one of all!
@@pinky2245 unless you are having a patty melt
Never did brown sugar, but my family mixed berries with sour cream and sugar all the time. Not dipping, but actually mixed up in a bowl so the sugar actually sweetens the cream. Delicious! I thought it was a Russian thing growing up because I’ve never seen anyone else do this! You should give it another try
I’ve never heard of peanut butter and pickles, but I used to do cream cheese and pickle sandwiches as a kid and loved them. Still like the combo as an adult, but can’t justify an entire sandwich of just those two.
Thanks for the giggles!
15:50 Alessi sault, it is like Alessio and Jessi combined
Make peanut butter toast with a sprinkle of garlic salt and parmesan cheese. It is so delicious 😋
The best pnut butter sandwich is: raisin/cinnamon bread, thick layer of crunchy pnut butter, a good amount of Miracle Whip and a lot of iceberg lettuce!!! Perfect! Thank you for your videos! :D
The best PB&J I ever had was Raisin bread, peanut butter, orange marmalade, and sprouts. It was so good!
Enjoy.
Mayo or no mayo?
@@kelqueen9998 No mayo.
Grape jelly and chocolate pudding. Its amazing!!
I need to try the dill pickle and snickers! Love kosher dills dipped into peanut butter…❤
Ya know .. sometimes people on the internet just be trollin'! :D
Not surprised by the prevalence of pickles ... but am surprised by the lack of bacon, jalapenos, onions, and spray cheese.
Pear with cheese is a traditional combination in Italy. I think the weird combinations that you are testing in this video were made from kids by accident or pregnant woman.
Love pear and cheese, apple and cheese even grapes too😂
1) Fresh White toast bread (not toasted though) - with peanut butter with sliced sweet onions or the long green onions (shallots)
2) half avocado - put white sugar over it or Nutella
3) sliced Granny Smith apples, dipped in just salt or tajin
4) toasted bagel with cream cheese and strawberry jam
There are probably more combinations and I’ll keep you posted
This is a great appetizer
Dates (no pit), insert a blanched almond, roll a bacon strip around it - roast it until the bacon is crisp. DELICIOUS!
Pineapple with Tajin is the best ever.
I like the strawberry, sour cream and brown sugar combo. Also good with pears. You can mix the sour cream and sugar together to make a dip consistency which is a little sweeter. Maybe you got too much sour cream. My dad loves peanut butter and pickle sandwiches.
Nacho cheese Doritos dipped in the tiniest bit of mustard. Fried egg with pepper, Tabasco sauce and mustard
If Okroshka is with Kvass, we also add sour cream on top
Champagne risotto is AMAZING
I love when Alessio just says Gross! Cracks me up every time!
You should try blue cheese on a gingerbread cookie, that is just amazing!
Oreo’s dipped into dill pickle juice is amazing.
My grandma used to make that!
Warm apple pie and sharp chedar cheese is one of the best combinations ever
Common in New England
Lemon oreos dipped in lemonade is my go too or vanilla ice cream with Tapatio hot sauce ❤is so good
You should this: a toast covered with a sweet condensed milk and sardines, amazing
Snickers and pickle is shocking!!! Although I tried pickle slices and the nerds gummy clusters. Delish!!!
You should try dried medjool dates with butter and salt, weirdly yummy
@toddhadley9002 sounds good to me 😀
Peanut butter and bacon sandwich, grilled like a grilled cheese. Yum!
I hate sugar or sweetness in general on my meat or vegetables like they eat very often in Asia. - On the other hand I recently salted my watermelon and I really loved it!!!
I'm very much averse to the sweetness also, but I do use salt on apple slices, grapefruit and watermelon.
My mom made us ants on a log which is peanut butter MIXED WELL with a little mayonnaise & fill up a cleaned celery stalk & add a slight line of raisins on top of the peanut butter mixture to look like ants on a log🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜😄
Sounds gross but we loved it.
Then we had a dessert that had crushed pretzels & strawberry Jello it was really great
when she wasn't making us chocolate delight or fruit cobblers & every other southern mamma's good cooking list of specialties.
😂😋💜🙏
