I always do the finger thingy, only recently have I been able to do the finger thingy but in my head. I can't picture things in my head like other people though, I can create detailed images in my head but only for a millisecond so it's really hard for me to do this, understandably, I'm proud of myself. 😌 I never learned my times tables so I think I'll forever be doing that finger thingy anyways. It's not hard though and the more math I do like that, the faster I become at it.
@@Rosiegyatt for me I was on level but I was going through a rough patch when we went over multiples and the teacher was one of those fake nice teachers that's actually Hella toxic so I just stopped listening to her because I didn't care and I still made honors, tested into multiple carrier programs, am ahead of many of my peers at even an ib school, and I still don't know my multiples by heart but I at least don't have to do the finger thingy anymore. My mental math has improved a lot.

"Your turn 2x4?" "8!" Etc. She wouldn't let us use our fingers so because I sucked at multiplication back then, I would wear oversize hoodies and just cover up my hands. It was fun having a dumb advantage no one else had.
Whenever i needa multiply, divide, plus or subtract i do in my brain like when i dont ahve anything to write on i just become a statue and sometimes mouth the words (without saying anything) and do it lmao-
