  • I've been working from home during the pandemic and using my personal desk for work. My work laptop takes up a lot of space on my desktop that I'd like to get back, so I thought it would be a good idea to hide my laptop in a drawer under the desktop. This is a quick and serviceable modification to help declutter my desktop and give me more useble space.

    Thanks bud. I was about to build one almost exactly the way you just did. Just didn’t have the right length of rollouts. 👌🏻

    The man just happens to have a full woodworking workshop.... I would have gone simpler with a commercial drawer for $40 or a vertical laptop stand.. the port replicator / dock is just bulky so not many options.. Nice work!

      The workshop is very helpful. And yes, the docking station for this laptop is ridiculously big.

    Perfect but should you face alignment issues, you can move the screw to the hole on the ear or is ot tab to allow for flexibility

    I keep my keyboard in my desk drawer. When I pull out the drawer the front makes a perfect armrest for both arms while typing. You adjust your chair for height and pull the drawer in and out for distance.

    • @GlennFrazeeYT
      @GlennFrazeeYT  Год назад

      Ya, I do similar, but my chair had armrests built in

      @@GlennFrazeeYT That sounds more comfortable than what I am doing. I might have to install a piano hinge or 270-degree hinge for the front of the drawer to use my chair armrests. For my other desk want to install an ergonomic keyboard tray. They are a lot more adjustable. Thanks, I am glad I found your video.

      It's an old one. This laptop is like 7 years old.

    I'm about to add a keyboard drawer to my particleboard desk. And I have the same minimum requirements. My question is a year later, how is it holding up? Did you use enough screws to hold the slides and hanging support to the desk? 💖🌞🌵😷

    • @GlennFrazeeYT
      @GlennFrazeeYT  9 месяцев назад

      It's held up just fine. It only holds the weight of the laptop since I don't ever type on it while it's in the drawer.

    • @suzisaintjames

      @@GlennFrazeeYT , do you think it would hold up with typing? 💖🌞🌵😷

    Is that how you're supposed to hold the wood? Your hand is so close to the blade. Are you left handed, maybe?

    • @GlennFrazeeYT
      @GlennFrazeeYT  2 месяца назад

      Nope. Works just fine if you know what you're doing

  • @joannaquanttumphysics

    Too bad the wood would cost more than a desk with a drawer or two.
