I put a piece of mesh over the drainage hole to stop the slugs getting in from the bottom. Then garlic spray regularly. Spray works fine but it rains here in a Scotland ( a LOT) so have to keep repeating spray.
I bought hosta from clearance , it only has 2 leaves but root ball fits snuggly in its nursery pot. Should I keep it that way until there's more leaves, or up pot this?
Love the idea of putting hostas in pots
They grow so well in pots .
I always grow my hostas in pots and they display together really nicely.
They do we love them in pots just bought some new ones to add to our collection including a giant one we have not had before
Какая интересная идея! Спасибо.

Thank you for letting us know that’s great 😀 tip
Most of my hosta are in the garden but I also have some at the front entrance of my condo. Very nice video and thank you much.
I very much like the idea of the gravel to keep the slugs away.
You’re very welcome
No apologies necessary for the lovely poodle. Love❤
Thank you ☺️
Would putting potted hostas on a brick surface work as well as on the gravel?
Not as well, it's the sharp gravel edges that put them off exploring
@@gardenerscottageblakeney1316 I wondered -- thank you for noting that
You are most welcome
Do you cut back the stems after the flowers fade? I have a blue mouse ears hosta.
Yes we cut back the flowering stems after they fade

Pot it up it may have exhausted the compost . We bought a similar one by last year and potted it up straight away and it’s doing really well this year
Slugs are a problem here. Pots would definitely be the best way for me to grow hosta. I like orange marmalade.
Pots are the way to go so much easier if slugs are a problem
