Also check under plastic trim. I peeled mine off and needed a strong drink but can't wait to tackle it. If I could learn to do it quickly then you can. Just please disconnect battery to be safe :-)

My Iveco has rust and has taught me a shit load about welding. Loving the experience

You’re very brave! I feel like I might invest in some shares in sheet metal before I investigate further. What have you done with yours so far? What’s left to be done?

I realise this is now a couple of years old now but I've just got my xxlwb iveco back from my welder....after the rear was parked over a grassed area for 2-3 years.
Was told it needed 2 outriggers but it was every one of them and the inner front wheel arches...
I'd recently broken my leg severely so someone else checked it out....that was a mistake.
But she's solid now, still got a few little bits to get done in the future but for now its time to refit the new interior and start using her.
Also had the oil, filters and cambelt changed, glad I did as the one on it was severely cracked.
    Great vans the Daily.
    Peace
    Charlie 🇬🇧

Cheers Charlie. You’ll have a really good van there once it’s all kitted out. Hope the project goes well for you. If you don’t mind me asking, how much was the welding?

@@MechitBetter I think I paid about £1500 in the end bit that was a long term mates rates project. Suited me as I couldn't drive it for over a year anyway due to the leg.
I've just purchased a new Dometic compressor fridge and sink hob, along with quite a few fittings from a 2018 caravan.
Just waiting for my mate to help out as he's done many before and I've got a severely damaged spine as well as the leg issue.
Technically the van should have been scrapped, but the guy worked on it evenings and weekends over a year on it!

Nice one! I could do with a mate like that 😁 It sounds like a great project though and it’ll be worth it in the end for sure 👍

It's an Iveco mate. I put 100k on my 04 daily. I get my welding set out once a year for the mot and buy the odd brake caliper and that's it. I'd take her anywhere.

If I knew what I was doing with a welder, I might do the same haha. The rust is bad though. Probably way beyond me 🤦‍♂️

Bit of an odd one, is there ever going to be a part 3? I am currently in the process of converting an 03 daily - with the exact same problems, wanted to know if you had managed to tackle this..

When is the next part? Im going to do pretty much the same to my Daily 😁

Hiya. I don’t think there’ll be another part I’m afraid. She’s a rusty mess and far needs more work than we have the time and skill for!

    Hi guys,
As much as I love/admire you both, Doris certainly looks like a no-no.

Ha, I’m inclined to agree with you in this one 😕

Vehicles in terrible condition rust wise can be fixed by welding. You just need to stop thinking to much! And start by using a small hammer to bash out all weak areas totally then cut away to unaffected metal and grind or flap wheel it clean. Take the time needed, add drain holes and spray in either oil or wax oil afterwards.

Hmm. If it was a VW it might be worth the time and effort . I dont know about this one, unless you just use it to learn bodywork and welding.

That’s the plan. Gotta learn somehow. Besides, it’s just sat on the drive anyway, so there’s nothing to lose. I’m interested to know why a VW is worth more time and effort than anything else though?
