We had ponies when we were young, mean ponies that rubbed you off on trees lol. We got back on and kept going. I didn't have a saddle till I was 14. Still have it, don't use it just admire. The unbroke horses my dad got for us taught us how to hang on and keep going. My dad was an old cowboy did some bronc riding and moving cattle in Montana way back. I still ride as mush as possible. I remember my childhood adventures that were many. Now I ride a broke horse and enjoy the scenery in the forest just the same as when I was a child.

Nice video today . This one was different. The music was great and the view of the girls ears while you were riding was awesome.
Thanks Brett. I'm so pleased I hit your video again.
For me to be very honest, your videos are so inline with my life in your stories and remembering events that are happy . Which at times are difficult for me to remember.
As to feeding her as you get to your destination is a wise choice .
I raise mini and micro pigs. Adult size is about 12 inches tall.
I feed each pen from out of the back of a suv. Not that I'm lazy. But if and when the escape, the sound of the engine makes them come running.
It's an awesome sight to see 50 plus little guys and gals running and squeeling to get back in their pens to get fed.
Brother we are to old to chase anything but our dreams.
    Thanks again .

Brett, you and I grew up in similar ways. I had a poco bueno gelding too. Best horse I’ve ever had. I’d saddle up and put a can of spaghettios in my saddle bags and ride all day. I’d find a place to build a fire and cook those spaghettios. I was probably 10 years old. I’m 57 now and that’s all I still want to do. Still live on the family ranch that my great grandfather founded in 29. Couple of years and my grandkids will learn the “ways” too. Thanks for your videos.

Enjoyed the talk and the ride at the end ! You mentioned Welsh ponies . . . . When I was a kid , the TV cartoon show , " The Flintstones " had a contest to name Fred and Wilmas baby and the prize was a Welsh pony . Well, my neighbor buddies won that contest ! Their mothers name was Pebbles . I'm here to tell ya , that was meanest oneryest critter on four hooves that I've ever seen ! Every kid in the neighborhood had a bite or kick mark and most both ! We had rodeos on that critter and he liked to have done us all in ! LOL. All the parents complained , so they got rid of him. Some unsuspecting guy on a nearby farm hauled that bone breaker off and we were all better for it ! Us boys were still sad to see him go .

You might want to try what the off-roaders do is deflate your tires. I would not suggest defraying all the tires on the truck but maybe just the driving tires in the rear. What this does is makes a round tire not wide but flat so it acts more like a track than it does a tire. This is just a suggestion you may also want to try talking to some of the off-roaders maybe there's a off-roading rental store around you and ask them what tire pressures they use in that kind of sand. But the second thing you would need is a air compressor that runs off of your cigarette lighter so you can re-inflate your tires they have fancy systems that I believed you fight all the tires at once but I know for a fact they can inflate all of the tires at once.

When I got him, my wife was pregnant and couldn't ride anyway, but I bought a 13-year-old mare, a Paint horse, thinking that after the baby was born, she could ride. I figured a 13-year-old horse would be easygoing, perfect for my wife. But that was the meanest damn demon I've ever met in my life. I think the (breakfast) feed bag at the trailer is the greatest thing ever for a young horse or mule. It makes them fall in love with the trailer, going out on the trails and being with you. Equines, are 'foodies', they will do anything for a hay pellet, apple, carrot, etc. They have great memories and are only a little less intelligent than elephants. It's fun for them to be given good treats for good behaviors.

You are absolutely right all my horses including horses that come for training go out at night and come in to get fed in the morning and even horses that were hard to catch it didn't take long for them to be waiting at the gate to come in. You can go to the gate and call them anytime now, and they come running to be caught.

@BrettVaughnB100 when I was a kid there were no vacations, dinners, ball games. What there was was fence fixing, wood cutting, and chores to help dad with. But in Junior High I got the horse bug and that is one thing my Dad and I connected on. He had worked with horses. He'd plowed them, ridden them, and roped with them. That's how he and I connected. I got a mare with fold. When the colt was born we broke that colt to lead at 3 days old. By 1 year he would stand and be led around with a saddle and with long reins was learning to neck rein. By 2 I was riding him. Before he was weined I won a blue ribbon and a trophy for the best weinling fold. I rode that horse to date my girl and later we made our first garden with him. But my dad was getting older and my mom was afraid the horse would kick him when he was throwing out hay. Had to sell him. Horse buyer came by. I caught the horse with a rope, made a halter of it and rode him to the truck with a stock rack. I slapped him on the rump and he loaded into the truck. But as he pulled onto the highway and I watched him go that horse turned around with the wildest expression and watched me clear out of sight. Felt like I'd sold out my best friend and I guess I had. I've never owned another. Hurts to think about it. But I do love horses.
