This is the first song I remember giving me chills. I was just a small child, but I learned every word. I NEEDED to learn every word.
I got in a car accident when this song was out and playing on the radio. My car flipped and ended upside down. I was stunned, hanging upside down from the seat-belt, and all I could hear was this song blaring from the speakers. Lightning Crashes, indeed. Whenever I listen to this, I just thank God I am still alive. Keep up the good work JV, you do an awesome job.
Mate. I’m so glad you made it through that! Sending hugs. 💖💖💖
So glad you are ok Jeff, powerful story, someone was looking out for you that day I think
I hope you're OK. Wow! what an intense experience. All the best to you.
@@taniaPBear I was ok. It was 1994. I dislocated my shoulder and had a gash in my head. Other than that, I was OK. The other guy, who had been drunk, wasn't so lucky.
@@jeffp2x443 I am glad you were OK, I would never wish harm on someone, but I'm glad it was him not you. Drink driving is an asshole move, and it's usually the innocent party that pays.
Amazing song with great meaning. The circle of life, the angel opens her eyes(the baby)and the angel closes her eyes(the old woman)dying but not the mother of the baby. The mother cries for joy when her baby is born.
The entire album Throwing Copper is 🔥
Yesss my favorite!!!
1 of my favorite albums all-time.
"Throwing Copper", their album released in 1994 was one I listened to a lot. "I Alone" is another great one of theirs to check out.
Killer album
Sooooo good. My favorite album.
I thought they did a great job of seperating themselves from the all the grunge and they certainly weren't part of the nu metal stuff, they were Live
Forgot about “I alone”. Haven’t listened to these guys in a while!
I alone was one of my favourites. But the whole album was great.
It's really about the "transference of life"...as people die and their souls go to stand in the halls of guff...down the hall in the hospital there is a new soul coming into life as a baby's being born.
I always felt that he was talking about reincarnation in this song. "I can feel it coming back again", referring to the life force coming back in the form of a beautiful new human life. Im pretty sure the lead singer converted to Hinduism around the time he wrote this song, so it makes sense I suppose.
@@EmeraldBayMovies LMFAO!
@@jsmithers. I don't actually believe in reincarnation, but I think that might actually be what he's singing about.
@@EmeraldBayMovies Lmao 🤡🤡
@@jsmithers. Fair enough, you don't have to agree with me. Just my interpretation of the lyrics
Love Live. Throwing copper is a timeless ablum. You have to do 'I alone'.
Love I Alone!
@@marilynk30 me too.
Probably in my 90s top 5 songs. Live is always overlooked cause there were so many great bands. But they were a hell of a band and had their own kinda style.
True! My favorite album of the 90s for sure. That and Pearl Jam 10 lol
I forgot to mention that as the album was being wrapped up, Barbara Lewis, a long time friend of the band was killed by a driver fleeing from the Police (due to an armed robbery). She was only 19. They dedicated the song to her and both her family and the band seem to indicate that her story at this time completely encapsulates the song. She was an organ donor. Due to that, many lives were saved and her story continued.
Lots of feels with this song. Emotions in the lyrics were pretty strong.
All Over You - Live
Selling The Drama - Live
You're doing 90's stuff cool, this is a powerful song, love it!
In the 90's all Artists wer'e pouring all their hearts and souls of all kinds of emotions in their music. I really miss when it all meant something. Not like the so called music now.
If this song doesn't evoke some kind of feeling in you, then you aren't human. ❤️
Chills and tears and I can't listen to this song without closing my eyes
This song evokes feelings for me but not like you think. My mom hated me and I grew up orphaned and abused so I can't stand that common "mothers are super special" thought process. I do get emotional knowing that I will never experience or understand those feelings. I'm not human inside.
God bless you, my friend.
Actually the birthing mom lived....it was another older lady that passed down the hall at same time. Love your reactions 💗
1 of the most beautiful & heart breaking songs ever written.
This song was written by Ed Kowalczyk (lead singer) in his brother's room. He had a friend, Barb, that passed away from a car crash with a drunk driver/fleeing armed robber. Barb had donated multiple organs. This caused Ed to think about the circle of life and the symbolic "reincarnation" of Barb.
"Lightning crashes, an old mother dies
Her intentions fall to the floor
The angel closes her eyes
The confusion that was hers
Belongs now to the baby down the hall"
Barb's confusion and pale blue eyes are now seen in the newborn baby. This is symbolic of the donation of organs.
In a way he's really onto something. Our fears, doubts, hopes, dreams, struggles, debts, expectations, etc ...it all becomes a part of the next generation. We're giving this world to the youth. Total strangers are impacted from the same life experiences as we have. We're all connected and stay connected.
Well said!
My favorite Live song is "The Dolphin's Cry." I would love to see you react to it.
Me too!!! 💖💖💖👍
Was going to say this as well.
Distance to Here is my fave Live album. Everyone talks about how good TC is (and it IS a great album) but Distance to Here was created by a much more mature band. Love almost every song on Distance.
@@proudmomofbug I think, start to finish, TC is simply the most "listenable" album they put out.
Lakini's Juice had monster songs, but it wasn't as good in a "just push play", sense. Same goes for the Distance to Here.
I Alone was a good track by these guys too. I thought the build up in the song might catch you. Nice reaction.
Yes, that's my favorite!
Good recommendation!
Live is like a tidal wave..when their songs splash it usually gets bigger and bigger...their greatest hits album is a must have J.
I like their song “Lakini’s Juice”
I had the CD "Throwing Copper" when I lived in Austin in the early 90s. I would sing along to this CD in my car and always wished I had a singing voice like lead singer Ed Kowalczyk....maybe I thought I did back then...but no. Glad you discovered this!
This song is the best. I guess it’s the circle of life ❤️
missgmoma I was starting to worry about you, babe! All okay?? 💖💖💖😘
Turd Ferguson hey boo, things are good right now. Been getting ready again for possibly another hurricane by Tuesday. We’ve gone through all the storms & now on the Greek alphabet. Watching storm Beta that should be a hurricane tonight or tomorrow.Only time we ever went through all the names & were on the Greek alphabet was 2005, the year of Katrina. Everybody here is exhausted physically & mentality with this & 6 weeks left of the season 😞 are you doing okay on your end?
missgmoma Yeah, ok here. I can’t imagine what it’s like living under that kind of strain every day. 💖😘😘🌼🌸
Turd Ferguson good to hear things are better your way. Yeah, it’s a mind game with wondering all the time how bad it will be. I keep saying I can’t wait for 2020 to be over! I sure hope 2021 doesn’t tell 2020 “ hold my beer while I show you how it’s done” 🤔
missgmoma IKR? I keep hoping for a better year. I guess we both haven’t had one for a while. The spare bed’s made. Get over here!!! 😂😂😂💖💖💖💖
Oh, nostalgia! I listened to this song on repeat, repeat, repeat. Love LIVE.
Actually the mother didn't die, as she gave birth an old woman down the hall died; it's the circle/cycle of life he's trying to show.
Spot on... and it's amazing all the complicated interpretations people have tried to give over the years.
This seems like part of my wife’s family religion (Buddhist) I believe. They look for a “mark” that connects a baby to a lost family member.
This is a fantastic song!
I have burned through 3 copies of "Throwing Copper". No lie.
3 for me as well. I've also bought an additional 3 for birthday gifts over the years.
What is a copy and how does one burn through it?
Just to clarify it wasn't the mother giving birth who died it was an old mother down the hall. It represents the balance in all things. As one dies one is born. The moment life begins is the moment life ends. The universe has a harmonious rhythm about it and everything is in perfect balance even if we can't see it.
"Selling the Drama" is really good. Has Christian undertones.
Awesome song!
That’s my favorite song by Live.
I’m loving all this 90s alternative. Alt Rick and new jack swing from this era will forever be my favorite genres.
Awesome song!
A lot of their songs have religious imagery and undertones. That gets heavier in later albums.
The mother that dies is an old mother down the hall not the mother giving birth...
My dad played this song ALOT when i was growing up in the 90s and id have to say its one of my all time favourite songs.
This is the group that gave Chris Daughtry his musical ambition!
One of the few last well known songs that made old rockers believe the legacy would be carried on for another 20 years or so. Their accoustic version is simply stunning!!!
Selling the Drama was my FAVORITE song when it came out. That was one of my personal theme songs in high school.
What a jewel of a song.
If I'm remembering correctly, they did this on the Arseneo Hall show. He always got the best music acts at the time. Anyway, it was all everyone could talk about" Did you see Live on Arseneo? "
My favorite color is GOLD:)
This song came on during my labor on the drive to the hospital. After awhile at the hospital, they realized the cord was around my babies neck and we needed an emergency csection but wanted paperwork filled out. I was doing what they needed but saying loudly to save the baby. Just cried all over again with these lyrics
great song , great band , they are extremely underrated
Love this one sad but I love it
not that sad . its about life .
Oh wow cool song.👍👍 Surprised to see you hearing this. Love this group. They did main song in "The Mummy Returns" 🎬 with Rachel Weisz and Arnold Vosloo... "Forever May Not Be Long Enough* 💜 fave color
Live is one of my favorite 90's rock band.....their music has Christian themes in their lyrics....and the musicians are super talented. Reminds of Rock groups of the 50's and 70's. Really liked this group!!!
Live is a very "intense" band... This was their 3rd song, "Selling The Drama" was their 1st and "I Alone" was their 2nd... Both are great songs!
umm this is their 2nd album and it's the 5th song on it..
“The confusion that was hers belongs more to the baby down the hall”. This line haunts me
Live were my jam when I was in junior high/high school. Saw them twice, I was so into them. They were good shit.
Simply a glorious song. So glad you enjoyed it. Their live concerts were amazing!
An absolute masterpiece. Every time I hear this, tears stream down my face. It is so powerful. When my grandmother passed away, my niece was expecting her first child. I am emotional right now writing this.
Saw them live (no pun intended) and they did not disappoint!! This song gets me in the heart every time.
I absolutely loved listening to LIVE. One of thousands in my life's story.
Keep blessing us with the great music and your smile 😁
Always!
I absolutely love this song. When the drums come in....awesome!
Have several of their albums, a great band! Love this song and Dolphin's Cry and Dance With You...lots of good songs in their discography.
OMG! ! I had forgotten all about this song. It’s so awesome. Thanks for sharing ♥️
The early ‘90’s was a great time for Rock music! 🤘😎🎧🎵
Great band, seen them in concert 3 times, just awesome live
One of my favorite songs! I have listened to it MANY times but still get chills when I hear it.
our boy jovaugh! this is another great reaction. watching you go on the ride as the music & emotion build... great way to start my day.
OMG ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Thank you
We played this at my daughters funeral , she was 20 😪 her favorite
one of my favorite songs (and I've listened to many over the years). glad u reacted to this.
one of the most powerful songs ever written and performed
That 90's slow build mixed with touches of that gritty grunge!! ❤❤❤
So many great 90 rock groups around. Live, pearl Jam, red hot chili peppers, hootie and the blowfish just to name a couple. No matter what genre of music hip hop, r&b, rock you will never best the 80's and 90's. Can't believe it's 30 + years. Will forever love those groups listed
"I Alone" & "Dolphin's Cry"
That is why i like these reaction videos sometimes you forget how powerful some of these songs were after 65 to 75 i think the 90s had the best music.
This is one of my favorite bands. I graduated in 2002 and this song was played all of the time where I am from.
💖💖💖💖💖 live!!! Ed's voice is just amazing🎶🎶🎶,so many awesome songs, all over you, selling the drama, shit town, I alone, rattlesnake, freaks, turn my head, lakinis juice, the dolphins cry,run to the water are all 🎸🎶🔥🎸🎶🔥🎸🎶🔥🎸🎶🔥
Great reaction Javon! This album brings back so many awesome memories of the 90's. Still to this day, one of my top 5 albums of all time.
This song always makes me cry. It was in the CD player of my cousin's car and was the song playing when he died in a car accident.
Salisbury Hill by Peter Gabriel, I just love your reactions!
I have a ton of songs I'd love you to hear
The Message, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5
Much love from Toronto xo 💜💜💜
as a grown man and never had a child of my own I find the actress who played the girl having the baby was just so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes..Gods miracle of life to us.
Another one of my favorite songs!!!♥️♥️♥️
It’s such a great track. It gives me goose bumps and tingles up my neck every time without fail.
The MTV Unplugged version is one of the best performances of anything ever.
I was impressed that you clearly felt the emotion because it took you a long while to interject.
It's such a good song. Glad to see you got taken by it like I did. Those first time listens, man. Only a few songs can still take you over and over again no matter how many times you listen to it and this is one of those songs.
Keeping with the genre, Candlebox is a must
This was played a lot on the radio great song, another of theirs which is really 90s imo is “Selling The Drama” my teen years ☺️👍
I Alone is my favorite song by them. Love the video, the drummer loved being in front of the drums!
Takes me back to first year of college 1995. I had this on cassette . Throwing copper kept producing hits for a few years. If I only I could be 18 again!!
So cool you discovered Live. Loved these guys back in the 90s. You’re reacting to a whole range of genres - and we appreciate that.
This was off a great album. I was a teenager when it came out and I listened to it non stop
One of my all time favorite songs...The baby is born and the mother survives, but an old lady down the hall dies at the same time...the story of life and death....the angel opens the eyes of one and closes the eyes of the other.
Yep...play this one all the time! Love it!
Throwing Copper is in my top 5 Albums of all time, you can't go wrong with any song on the album
Thank you brother for doing such a great song by an awesome band they actually grew up about 18 miles from where i live
Overcome is another great song of theirs worth a listen.
Live is a very underrated band. They also have one of the best MTV Unplugged episodes, so if you want to hear some "live" Live that's worth checking out. Here's some songs: All Over You, Selling the Drama, Operation Spirit, I Alone, TBD, The Beauty of Gray, and the song White Discussion builds to such a frenzy.
Mate. Your reactions and content just keep getting better. Love your work J.
Hello from Cody Wyoming! You are one of my favorite reactors! I watch you every night.. keep it up🤠
U did a great job of listening to the song brother....well done. Much respect
Love this band! Their song All Over You is one of my faves.
YES!!! All the feels. Chills. From my FAVORITE album of all time. Seriously. So much passion in his voice. I loooove the Throwing Copper album. Great album to jam out to while cleaning the house lol. Great band. Jayvee I won’t steer you wrong. This album is sooo good. The drums and his voice. Ughhh it’s everything. Great reaction! Seriously Jayvee, this album ROCKS.
Lightning crashed today. We lost one of the greatest women. RIP Ruth Bader Ginsburg😢🙏💔
Saw live in 95 and on 97, amazing show
Come on people!! He is so close to a hundred thousand subscribers!! We have got to get our friend that plaque!
I cried so many times hearing and seeing this song. You know what just happened watching you hear this song? I think I'm just now getting... That perhaps the one singing is the baby who was born in this story, so to speak! Wow Jay, goosebumps! Big hugs
I love the way this song builds up and up, one of my favorites of the grunge scene the 1990s. Love love love!
One of my favorite bands! I Alone, All Over You, Selling the Drama and actually the whole album Throwing Copper is awesome.
I like your reactions. Very genuine and you don't stop the song too much.
Love This Band!! 💕
I love this tune! I had forgotten about it.
One of my favorite bands - I was going to ask you to react to them, and here they are! So many great songs: "Selling the Drama", "Call Me a Fool", "Turn My Head", "Run to the Water", "Dance With You", "The Dolphin's Cry", and "Heaven"... for starters.
Whackado! They ROCKED that up beautifully ❤️
I saw Ed Kowalczyk (lead singer) on an interview about this video and he said the song was about life, giving life to a new human being, and reincarnation.. There were two time frames in the video :) I thing the mom that died in the "past" was the baby born at the end of the video 😊 Man, i love your reaction to this classic. It feels so good to see the younger generation appreciate the music we grew up listening to.. Keep it up, man! I will subscribe ✌️
Love this song and “Selling the Drama”! ❤️
