@@isaveliy5507 первый же студийный альбом Арии с Киловым - "Мания величия" - относится к жанру хеви-метал. И то, что первая песня называется "Это рок" сего не отменяет.

Hello! You can`t even imagine how many brilliant songs this band has. Blood For Blood, Follow me, Playing with Fire, Angel Dust, Volunteer, Hero of Asphalt and many-many others. This is truly legendary band in former Soviet Union. And what is also important, their lyrics are another masterpiece. Unlike many other metal songs, most Aria lyrics are written by professional poet.
And, of course, vocal of Valery Kipelov - this is something unbelievable in terms of its power and beauty. Similar to Dio and Bruce Dickinson but at the same time, it has own familiar tone/ You definitely need to check out other Aria and Kipelov (now he has own band, he left Aria in 2002) songs, not also I`ve mentioned before. Enjoy!!

This song was inspired by the history of Teutonian Crusades to Russia in 1240-1242, particularly the episode known as The Ice Battle, which happened in April 1242. The knights of Militia Christi de Livonia were moving towards the city of Novgorod, but faced the fierce resistance of Russian warriors, that made the knights to retreat to the ice of Chud Lake. An ice, melted under the spring sun, could not bear the weight of men and horses wearing full metal armor, thus it cracked drowning the Livonian knights.
Below is the lyrics:
Away have fled the flocks of winter birds,
The smoke drove them away faster than a fox.
The smoke floated above all the lands,
Rag-tags of all sorts have thrown a feast.
Who's the brave one that shouts at them:
"STOP!!!"
The West was rolling like a wave on the East,
Wearing the Cross on their backs and their chests.
Teutonian spears were aiming for the Sun,
The smell of burning claimed the bad news.
Owl, wolf and an eagle were enjoying this play,
Sensing smell of Russian blood from afar.
All the devilry forces were offering help
To the Master of the Ordo Canum.

The saints are crying in the altars,
And church bells ring the tocsin.
The battle time has been set,
That's gonna be the hell,

Да, только эпичность той битвы несколько приукрашена. Всего тевтонцев было немногим более сотни. А именно, порядка 20 рыцарей, и на тот исторический момент это была довольно серьезная сила. Рыцарь тогда был примерно как танк, и как танк, таскал с собой еще кучу вспомогательных боевых единиц - копейщиков, лучников, оруженосцев, знаменосцев. Но в целом, это была просто горстка вояк, а не полноценная армия вторжения.
В общем, дали им пиздов легко, но тогдашняя пропаганда расписала всё как великую победу. А окончательно миф сформировался уже во времена ВОВ, когда и появился фильм "Александр Невский". Эпичное кино, кстати.
@@irrd1234 вообще не тогдашняя пропаганда расписала, а спустя многие годы при Иване Грозном пошла героизация образа Александра Невского, когда даже его вылазка против небольшого отряда превратилась в легендарную Невскую битву. Фактически рыцарей в середине XIII века успешно уничтожали литовцы, также неплохо обкусали уже объединёнными с русичами силами в 1268 в Раковорской битве, а окончательно вопрос закрыла успешная оборона Пскова в 1269, и по приближении новгородского войска рыцари свалили и более до конца века своим присутствием не донимали.

I guess it would be better to translate the song like "Ballad of an Ancient Russian Warrior" but the song is amazing. It would be in my playlist if we will ever have an apportunity to forget some memories for relive emotions of exploration songs once again.
