      I would submit a complaint to NHS Patient Liaison Service, Social Services and the Housing Association simultaneously asking for a multidisciplinary review and sighting that there is a safeguarding risk if your housing is affecting you in such a way that you could get injured (if that is the case) - Also get advice and support if you can - try here first www.shelter.org.uk

    Oh thanks! Finally someone is talking about it.
    I’m considering applying I’m living on 3 rd floor and have disability but don’t know what I need to do. Do I need my hospital records?

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  2 месяца назад +1

      You may do, but starting with GP records might be enough for what they need to see and they are moderately easier to obtain

    Hi Stu, I can get around mobility wise as long as things are on the flat so I don't bother asking for any PIP help on that side of things(I get totally knackered but it's not like they'll care about that). My problem is with stairs as my feet are totally numb which makes life hard at times. I have a bar on the staircase inside my flat so that helps. As I have a private landlord how would I go about getting pull up bars fitted outside my front door to make getting into my flat easier? Do I contact the council,the landlord or just pay someone to install something that will help?

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  2 месяца назад

      Good question Rob, quick answer is contact the landlord first of all and then the OT to see if you can get another assessment. If you can't then you may need to install them yourself. The parts are cheap enough, but if you need to access support to do it check with the council as their installation service may let you pay for it, usually cheaper than a local trader too. Age UK ran ours locally for the council and would cost around £25 for the call out and £15 per bar - and they did that for all ages as it was part of the contract. I'll discuss this a bit in my next live stream.

      @@StuartMcGoo I'll look into it then. Calling ppl isn't the most fun thing atm but I think it's probably a better option than falling up a step(which sounds silly but is surprisingly painful when it happens). Admitting I need things to help feels lame but life is what it is I guess. I'm sure I'm not the only person in this kinda situation so you discussing it on the next live stream would be useful. No doubt you'll also be discussing "our wonderful government's planned changes to *help* us" as well? Thanks for the advice,just need to get enough mental energy together to act on it,much appreciated.

    Sorry to go off topic but i'd like to ask a question, i've been put into the support group of UC after waiting 3 months for the decision, i was led to believe that they would back-date the claim to when i first started receiving UC, i was told last week that they don't because the first 3 months are a "grace period" would you know if that is correct ?

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  2 месяца назад +2

      They only backdate it to the date of the WCA result, if it is after the 3 month period.

      My council property isn’t really suitable as I use a wheelchair and I can’t reach my kitchen sink taps - I had the OT, council officer, and the subcontractor who supplied the kitchens stood in my house - the OT was mentioning cupboards that drop down off the wall, electric opening windows and all sorts of cool adaptions, and the kitchen supplier said he couldn’t get anything like that, and the council bloke was saying budgets are limited - so they gave me a written letter saying that they would completely gut the kitchen and put in a sink unit that could be lowered and raised about eight inches, and a worktop around the room at a working height.
      No cupboards or shelves, just the worktop around the room.
      I declined their offer and have carried on just using the bathroom sink and doing everything on my kitchen floor instead for the last 6 to 8 years.
      Last year someone came out to see me from the council and said my property wasn’t suitable for me and I should consider moving to purpose built wheelchair accessible accommodation, but acknowledged there is nothing available locally.
      However it is in the local plan that some should be built in the next few years!

      In most cases, the LCWRA element is awarded after a 3 month waiting period beginning on the day you provide medical evidence. If it takes longer than 3 months to carry out your Work Capability Assessment the element you are awarded will be backdated to this point and you will be paid any amount owing.

    Hi I am carer for my wife we live in a tiny 1bed bungalow. I can not sleep with my wife due to her thashing and horrible dreams .I sleeping a reclining chair. We told her physio nurse and she said she could help she wrote a email to my council as we need a 2 bed as I am allowed my own bedroom. The council was no help whatsoever and put us on a bidding site it's been 16 months since. I have now have a serious badback .wife has bipolar. Personality disorder. Ocd. Any advice pls

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes you should seek support in fighting that. If you have medical evidence that proves you need a 2 bedroom property you should not only be given a high level in the bid ratings you should also have support from a housing officer to find something suitable. They have a "Duty Of Care" (legal obligation) to provide you with this. Also get more medical evidence of the impact this is having on you such as any discussion you have had about the effect of this on your health and wellbeing with your GP. I suggest getting in touch with organisations such as Shelter or local charities who might be able to help with this. Sometimes the CAB can be helpful. Use the link in the description to go to the advice finder tool to help you.

    I'm going to tell you the different version from what Stuart's going to be telling you cos you're going to get nothing from the DWP
    That's the truth of reality
    I've been claiming pip for nearly 10 years through two court tribunals you're not getting it
    I get both announcements I had to fight for everything.
    Had to fight for it on mental health
