I'm old, I've been swapping LS for over 10 years now. When I first started out everything was fuel injected with a stock harness and manifold, the fuel system and tanks were a learning curve. Last year I finished a swap of a 5.3 into my '68 C10, I had to go thru everything and the truck was in the garage for 3 years. I had bought a Fitech Ultimate EFI system for it but I wanted it running so I got a Holley dual plane, MSD 6LS box for it and thru an old Qjet on it I had on the shelf. It ran fantastic, so good it's still is wearing that mixer. I had another 5.3 and a 4.8, I went thru them quick so a couple of my friends had motors for their rides. After riding in my C10 they both opted for the carb and with all of us being older than dirt they were both very happy because they understood the carbs and could work on them, , the 4.8 got a Holley 590 Truck Avenger and the 5.3 got a new Edelbrock AVS. They weren't looking for the most power, just a reliable engine to replace the worn out small blocks they both had under the hood. I still have that Fitech system on my bench, I also have a 2009 4.8 long block I picked up for 200 bucks and a World Class T5 under the bench. The '88 S10 that is in the driveway doesn't have an engine so I see a match made in heaven there, I'll use that Fitech system on it just because I have it but IMHO for everyday drivers those carbs work just fine and they aren't lacking in power in any sense of the word.

Yes. Ace's efi throttle body E85. But someone has to make a better intake.

Carburetor is so much easier if you know what your doing. Case and point my wife surprised me with a newer harley for my birthday a couple years ago. Only bike I ever had that still has stock exhaust cause it use to be $100 set of pipes and ten dollars worth of jet kit. But now it's at least $500 for pipes
and an additional $400 for a tuner

If im not mistaken, gmpp's distributor conversion front cover kit has a mounting pad for a mechanical pump and a eccentric that bolts on the cam's timing chain sprocket

I bent an axle on my 8.8 fox body rear end. I think it went a high 130 60 ft. time that night.

It all depends on what you can afford also.

In thinking tat with fuel injection. You have to tell it what to do. But with a carburetor it does it on its own. Providing proper calibration?

Actually a little curious about the different options for ls carb intakes I have seen them dirt cheap $130 or so on Amazon. And it would be intresting to see what kinda difference between them there is

For fun how about running a side draft carb on the truck manifold? Then test the TBSS with a carb to see if it's better

Fuel distribution eould be horrible. He once cut up the top od a tpi plenum and bolted on a carb.

I heard someone say port-injected manifolds vs carb/tbi manifolds flow better due to there not being fuel to take to take up plenum volume. Or some variation of that theory have any validity?

    Perfect video!
I have a 5.3 LM7 with 862 heads. Here is what im thinking. Edelbrock duel plane with an Edelbrock AVS carb. Truck torque cam, Shorty headers, MSD spark control.
Stock rods and bore. Maybe a stall converter but it is a daily driver. Not a racer and will sometimes tow a 4k trailer.
Will it all work nicely together?

yes-I would pick long tubes over shorty headers, but that will all work

Hey Richard I know I'm a little late to the party here but do you know if I can run my ls using a holley Projection system and the msd 6010 for ignition? I know that may not sound like the most ideal setup in the world lol, just trying to use what I have. Thanks in advance

I DON'T KNOW IF THE PROJECTION WILL ACCEPT THE SIGNAL FROM THE MSD-BUT IT MIGHT TAKE THE TACH OUTPUT
