Danny, Chris and Chase, you guys sound great. The mix is excellent. I love the sound of you and your bass. Could you tell me about your bass and strings? I'm researching makers, models, size, string length, etc. for my own double bass purchase. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your message! It was acquired and fully rehabbed by my close friend and super talented luthier Justin Rister at String Instrument Services (in Rochester NY). It's an old factory German carved bass with no name, possibly 100 years old? The string length I believe is 41 1/2", and it's a small 3/4 size bass. I'm using a gut G string made by Damian Dlugolecki, and three D'Addario pizzicatos-light gauge D+A, and a medium gauge E. Once they settle in they have an impressive, musical growl that is easy to control with a lot of focus. They pull A LOT of sound out of my instrument... even more than the helicore hybrids and the zyex. They're my favorite strings currently, cannot recommend them enough. Plus the folks at D'Addario are as nice as can be!
