This is so beautiful and heartwarming! So many animals go uncared for because they're not particularly fuzzy or cute. I'm so glad that this person has this heart.
And yes, I'm a broken record about it and I'll never stop- I always push the fact in any situation, you must always, always, always do your research on a pet before you obtain it! There is no shame in knowing how to take care of a creature adequately at the very least. But there is shame and not knowing how to take care of a creature you took the responsibility of.
God Bless this person and all of her endeavors 🤍

Agree that research is very important, even if you do basic research (enclosure requirements, diet and common health issues are a must to know before getting any pet) before you get the pet then learn all you can while you learn with your pet (I admit I take this one literally, I'm someone who will find every book I can on the pet I'm keeping and also do web searches and read as many articles as poss so I know as much as possible, probably why I own literally hundreds of books on pet keeping alone and yes I've read them all)

Hermit crabs cannot be bred in captivity, so every one you see in a shop has been harvested from the wild. If people knew what these poor creatures go through to get them into these stupid painted shells they would never buy them. I'm so glad the crab "fad" that was going on years ago is now over. PSA: These animals can live a couple decades or more. Please stop buying animals without doing any kind of research on them. Goldfish get huge, hermit crabs live basically forever, and pythons get huge depending on the type. These are commitments, sometimes lifelong.

They lay their eggs in the water and grow up there, and then some species come on land full time after that. A bit like toads. Some stay on the shore and go back and forth.
And then there's Coconut Crabs, which grow gigantic, leave the shell behind, and climb trees because they don't care what we think a crab is.
