The Hu is a Mongolian folk metal band formed in 2016.Incorporating traditional Mongolian instrumentation, including the morin khuur, the tovshuur, and throat singing the band calls their style of music "hunnu rock", a term inspired by the Xiongnu, an ancient tribal confederation of uncertain origins, known as Hünnü in Mongolia. Some of the band's lyrics include old Mongolian war cries and poetry.
The Mongol horseman flies the Khar Sulde, the dreaded Black Banner of War of Gengis Khan, revered as a national hero in Mongolia. They are one, the horse and the warrior. Iron horses replaced the totemic animal, but the ancient, frightening war song lost nothing of its power. Mongolian throat singing and Metal, a match made in Heaven and Hell!
they played at Glastonbury this year the whole crowd went nuts, so cool when you know like 90 percent of the crowd had never heard of them before, image being one of those people!
My son and me went to see them in the summer in Liverpool and they are truly fantastic live. My son absolutely loves them he has seen them twice now and the second time got to meet them he was buzzing for weeks after. I know there is a video on RUclips somewhere as my son was there right at the front. They have more members than you see in the video 2 drummer's and a bass guitar and a guy that plays whistle and a mouth harp. It's so different and f---ing awesome.
These guys are so cool! This is a Mongolian Folk and Rock band using traditional Mongolian instruments. That whistle/whine sound at the start of the opening titles is called 'Throat Singing'. That 'drone and whistle' is being sung by one voice BOTH at the same time! The instruments are a Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp) and throat singing.
This Spirit is why Ghengis conquered half the world. It's powerful. Love them. You MUST watch their cover of Metallicas song Sad But True, or rather Sad But Hu lol. It's awesome.
7:57 “10 thousand of us will hand you the Wrath of Heaven”, there’s a quote out there supposedly said by Chinngis Khaan (Ghengis Khaan) “ If your sins had not been so great God would not have sent me to destroy you, I am the wrath of Heaven”
The LARGEST Empire in recorded history was the Mongol Empire. The instrument with the horse-head is a "morin khuur" The lute like instrument is the "tovshuur" One of the things about both is they can be played while on a horse. They are well worth the listen. Remember the ancestors of these guys conquered the Chinese Empire got as far as Poland, Hungary and Vienna in the West took out the Caliphate of Baghdad.
Whilst the Mongol Empire was the largest contiguous empire in history, approximately 9.3 million square miles at its peak, it was a long way behind the British Empire at 13.7 million square miles. In terms of population, it was the Qing Dynasty, which had 37% of the worlds population, at the time of its peak. As for The Hu - fantastic band.
The tens and multiples of tens was the way Chingghis khan organised his troops. From the basic ten warriors with what amounted to a corporal through to ten thousand with a general. Each section controlled by flags and drums fighting as a coherent unit.
What's so funny with the Hu, as with a lot of western heavy metal bands, is they are so badass when performing but sweet, well mannered gents in interview
My 16 year old son got to meet them this year and said they are so friendly he was so happy for weeks after he loves them he got to drum sticks and a Guitar pick they are his favourite band and can't wait to go see them again.
@@markleonard1863 How lucky is he? I'm not able to make this U.S. tour but definitely going to get to the next one. My adult children aren't into them like me (like different genres not into rock/metal, where did I go wrong? lol.) but one of my daughters said she would go with me.
Lacuna Coil was introduced to me by sweet Yahoo Radio (RIP). It was my first touch of music that couldn't be heard on yon radio. From there I was inundated with music of all kinds. Lacuna Coil will always hold a special place in my heart. Freaking love The Hu! Thank you for checking them out!
The Hu are awesome live, too. Saw them open for Halestorm. Combining rock/metal with Mongolian folk, using standard and traditional Mongolian instruments. And throat singing. 4 members and 4 touring members: Gala and Enkush - Morin Khuur (horseheads fiddle), and throat singing. Jaya - throat singing, Tumuur hhuur (mouth harp), and Tsuur (end blown flute) Temka - Tovshuur Touring members: Ono -percussion Jamba -guitar Davaa -bass Odko -drums. They have redone several songs, including this one, with new English lyrics and guest singers. Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach) on Wolf Totem, Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) on Song of Women, Danny Case (From Ashes to New) on Yuve Yuve Yu, Wm Duvall (Alice In Chains) on This Is Mongol, and Serj Tankian (System of a Down) along with DL from Bad Wolves on Black Thunder.
First time hearing this and its totally bad ass how it goes from we come as thunder to the wrath of heaven and I honestly admit I thought same when I first saw the different motorbikes 😂

One of the funniest line i'd heard to a reactor to this video, he paused it towards the end during the war chant and he said "Many of an ass was beat to this song, there is just no way around it" lol
There is a good quality live recording from one of the Festivals this year by Arte on YT they are amazing on stage Another one I like is Song of Women with are without Lzzy Hale
I love these guys! As I"ve said elsewhere, they are my favouriite band to losten to when I feel like destroyin 13:25 g the world. For other non English speaking bands allow me to suggest Indian folk metal band Bloodywood. Their song "I predict a riot" is a good intro. Also, you definately want to check out my NZ boys "Alien Weaponry." Founded as tweens after seeing the movie "District 9" they often sing in Maori. Their song "Kai Tangata" I know just enough Maori to know means "food people", a reference to cannibalism.
Hey Daniel I don't know if you know of King Diamond if not check out sleepless nights..see if it interests you..I use to listen to them alot in my teens very different each album tells a different story. Unique voice, awesome music. "Them" was there most popular album.

I know this is late so idk if youll see this. But the HU the a version of this song feat Jacoby Shaddix (singer of Papa Roach) it is so amazing. You have to hear it even if you dont reacted to it The Hu is really good live too. I saw them when the toured with Five Finger Death Punch last year. I wasnt expecting to like them at all. i usually like to be able to sing to my music but they made me branch out a little bit.
Gonna chime in with Song of Women (with Lzzy), Yuve Yuve Yu and Sad but True. Their live recordings aren't bad but the videos of those are better, very high quality.
If you don't mind a longer song, do Black Thunder parts 1 and 2. Together it's 9 minutes long but you talk about a movie! Make sure you do the original and not the one with Serj Tankian.
I would suggest that you check out there cover of enter sandman by metallica lol it was better than i thought it would be or the other version of wolf totem that they colabed with Jacoby shadix from papa roach
The HU was actually meant to join Sabatons 2022 tour, but that was cancelled due to..well the circumstances, so when the tour came together in 2023 they were unable to join, so Babymetal joined instead.
Powerful music, but not much of a fan of their glorification of Dzjengis Kahn in some of their songs, who committed many genocides and massacred over 40-60 million people in Eurasia, which was over 10% of the world population.

They have an AMAZING cover to Metallica's Sad But True....100% must see.
Super.
The Mongol horseman flies the Khar Sulde, the dreaded Black Banner of War of Gengis Khan, revered as a national hero in Mongolia.

Mongolian throat singing and Metal, a match made in Heaven and Hell!
Their Sad But True cover is excellent as is Yuve Yuve Yu!!!!
Yuve Yuve Yu shows a more mulodic metal sound for the Hu, and the landscape is amazing...they mix traditional and modern in a coil and interesting way
I love them. First time I heard them they did Yuve Yuve Yu. Great video. Definitely gets the blood pumping.
Glad you have found the Hu Band. The throat singing is hypnotic. They have be enthusiastically recieved at concerts and festivals in Europe
Yuve Yuve Yu was a massive hit, it even played on UK radio which was crazy.
I'm so glad that you have found The Hu. I play them a lot. I suggest that you give a listen to their "Song of Women" with Lizzy Hale from Halestorm.
Cheers Gaye hooe all is well!
My son saw them live when they toured in the UK, he was blown away and loved every moment of the concert.
Making the Morin Khuur sound like the horse s te ultimate skill of the musician.
the hu amazing
they played at Glastonbury this year the whole crowd went nuts, so cool when you know like 90 percent of the crowd had never heard of them before, image being one of those people!
They are touring the USA now, you should go see them if possible. They are even better playing live and will blow you away.
My son and me went to see them in the summer in Liverpool and they are truly fantastic live. They did a collab with jacoby shaddix from poppa roach of this song! It didn't loose any of the tribal feel. Sooooo good!

So true! Gala looks so fierce and intimidating here but in interviews he has the sweetest smile.

Great, original stuff! Song of Women (with Lzzy Hale) and Yuve Yuve Yu next! Enjoy the badassery!
Yes the song with Lzzy is a must - the ultimative Mothersday song for sure its epic ❤🇦🇹
Great song! Your channel would be so much better if you'd go full screen with you down in the corner
I strongly suggest you listen to The Song of Women with the HU and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. It's magical!
A group of Hell's Angels are scary enough. And then they include the Mongolians!
My son's old band opened for Shadows Fall, Laconia Coil and Stone Sour(Corey Taylor's other band)
From the other end of The Hu scale, check out "Song of Women" with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. These badass dudes go all mushy about their moms.

That was brilliant,
Do they do football chants in Mongolia 🇲🇳 😂😂
This is just brimming with toxic masculinity!🤘🎸
If you don't mind a longer song, do Black Thunder parts 1 and 2. Together it's 9 minutes long but you talk about a movie! Make sure you do the original and not the one with Serj Tankian.
Check out The HU featuring Lzzy Hale, Song Of Woman. Just do it. Trust me.
