  • Join me on an exciting rockhounding adventure for banded obsidian glass at Obsidian Dome, near Mammoth and June Lakes, California. In "Rock Hunting Banded Obsidian Glass at Obsidian Dome - Eastern Sierras, California," we'll explore a natural dome formed about 600 years ago during a phreatic blast, where magma hit water on its way to the surface. This volcanic glass marvel is located in the Inyo National Forest, west of the stunning Highway 395 in the Eastern Sierras. In this video, I uncover many large and small pieces of obsidian glass. Remember, rockhounding is allowed within state limits, currently 15 lbs. per person, per day. Come explore with me!
    ROCK ON!! 😁👍🪨⛏️

Thank you! It's always fun finding different rocks and I'm excited to tumble these. I've heard they can take a long time to get smooth. We shall see! Yes, Jeff is a hilarious, grumpy-looking character. Have a fantastic day, my friend! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️

@@CacklingChick i try to go once a week. because I like being in nature and it's a nice change from the stressful everyday life. But of course that doesn't always work.

Wow, that's awesome, and I TOTALLY agree nature is mandatory!! I walked over to some railroad tracks this morning to collect some glass to make more faux "sea" glass. That's as close to nature as I got. 😆 Glad you get out and enjoy nature!
