Personally it confuses me as to why the protagonist went back at all... alone... unarmed... with no genuine reason...
From what I've seen thus far, there's not a single monster the protagonist has encountered that a shotgun couldn't put down. So why they went without any sort of weapon is beyond me. Especially if they say the reason the protagonist went back was due to guilt... the protagonist MUST know what happened during the Hour of Joy.

@JUMPMANJAYLIN That's literally what I said. In order to feel guilt about something... The Protagonist would have to know about the Expiriments either from contributing to them OR via surviving the Hour of Joy. Which again, makes the fact that they went back years later alone, unarmed, and with no backup plan at all, all the stupider. Even just a shotgun with a sack full of ammo would be more than enough to kill each and every one of the demonic toys.
