  • I will go over some of my findings regarding getting an image burned. One of my Samsung Galaxy Note phones has an image burned also known as a ghost image. This can happen in amoled and lcd screens.

    I work in a phone retail store and the amount of phones customers bring in with screen burn is ridiculous! We shouldn't have to keep the brightness below half just to avoid this, what if I want my screen brighter? If I pay top dollar for a phone I would expect it not to have this issue, never buying an OLED phone again!

      I totally agree with you, but the in the near future all flagships will have OLED displays. Currently you still can choose an iPhone XR, but not for a long time. I really don't know why they love OLED display so much, talking about lifetime LCD is the best! They want to force us to shift our phones every 1-2 years. That's the reason.

      @@MayitoTek I usually keep my brightness in the middle unless I'm working on something outside and need to look something up, then I'll turn it all the way to max. I really think it's just from watching RUclips so much in portrait mode rather than fullscreen so much. I never really use full screen and I watch tons of RUclips videos because I do alot of DIY stuff and am always researching. I got the Galaxy S8+ the same month it was released and I wanna say I had screen burn within 6 months. It seems as if the whites are turning pink. The top 10% of my screen being the whitest in a horizontal line. The next 20% slightly darker in a horizontal line. And the next 70% significantly pink with a vertical line up and slightly to the left and of course the navigation buttons at the bottom are burned in as they're set to always on. But if you google you can find that some S9 users also are reporting some screen burn and it's just over a year for that model. Its definitely something nobody really covers in the RUclips world and it may be because the big tech RUclipsrs switch phones so often they dont get effected by it.

    I got an S7 in (IIRC) 2015. I have probably never had the brightness over 80-85%, but I do keep it on auto, so I suppose it could jump it up on its own, although I doubt that it does since I'm seldom in really bright light. What I do, however, is play solitaire on my phone - a lot. I average close to 15,000 games of solitaire a year. It's my fidget-spinner or contemplation aid when I need to work out a problem. I noticed about a year ago that the cards were definitely getting burned in on the screen and it's now pretty obvious if there is a white background. Not really noticeable for images or video, but it's there behind text for sure. I'm considering getting a new phone, but that seems kind of unnecessary given that this one still works fine otherwise, so I'll just live with the burn-in for now.

    I have image burn on my Galaxy S8. I have had it less than 2 years and the burn in are my icons on my home page. Just going away from Samsung phones now. So disappointed in the S8. Screen cracked about two weeks after I bought it. (Did not drop, just normal use). It was so new, no one had the curved screen to replace, and they said even if they did, they would not replace it. 3 different locations told me I could try to fix it myself. Lots of bloatware you can't uninstall and now screen burn in.

Firstly, the camera shoot Button burned in, then the Keyboard and then the homescreen apps icon. I didn’t used the phone with MAX brightness But still burned. I didn’t even know about this issue before got it on my phone. Today i went back to the store to return it or to change it with another phone. But think about the reason you buy a phone with the best display. To let it shine but then when you let it shine to it's full potential...you get burn in! Better off paying half as much for a phone with half the screen brightness instead of paying twice as much for a phone with an incredible screen but you can't enjoy it because you have to keep it at 50% to prevent burn-in. Makes no sense!

  • @dima.kerest

    • @MayitoTek
      @MayitoTek  5 лет назад +3

      in general it will help the entire screen not lose the brightness over time, but if you leave a static image on dark mode, the non black pixels will lose the brightness faster compare to the black pixels. That will contribute to the getting a ghost image
      again is not a sure thing as this cannot be proven . ll based on what I read online from other people who shared their experience.

    Samsung is lucky many people with burn in don't notice it, or else everyone would be on their ass for selling a $1k phone with a cheap display.

    • @MayitoTek

      over time, the rest of the screen will stop losing the brightness and that should help those pixels not be so noticeable. The screen brightness is like your clothes, the more you use it the faster it starts fading out ( clothes take months and amoled screens takes years). I would not really worry about it at this point. I would suggest you DON'T try to run some of the apps that claim to remove the image burn , as that is what it will do , burn the rest of the screen to make the image burn less noticeable . That happened to me and lost some of the brightness on this note 5

But my nine-month-old Note 8 has an image burn of 2 download arrows, in the upper left notification area. It isn't intrusive but it's annoying. I have brightness set to 50%. I have a screne burn in which is quite noticeable. Top Half of my screne looks pinkish, the bottom half has a birned in keyboard/ghost image, the very top has a bright whit bar. Now I always hit my power botton on my phone but use to keep it at max brightness. This is on a Samsung s7 btw but the thing is the screen burn in actually affects the visibility and I can see it constantly. Are you saying that there is no way to fix this without further damaging the phone?

    Hi!
    So this is abit off topic because mine is an iPad Pro, but I think it still follows the same route. I bent my device awhile ago and a black line about an inch long appeared. It’s not completely black, it’s holographic, but still really dark. Anyways, I left RUclips on over night while playing a 10 hour long music video, and I guess my RUclips went out of full screen and “network connection error” appeared on screen because now I see the network connection button and some recommend video burnt into my screen, but ONLY where the black line is. Do u have any tips or something? :)

    • @MayitoTek
      @MayitoTek  5 лет назад +1

      Yep, dark and light colors is what will cause the image burn to be more noticeable. The letters were probably lighter, the lighter(brighter) pixels faded out more significant compare to the black(dark pixels) creating the image burned.. sadly no solution for this, but to replace the screen

    I thought dark themes and dark gboard were better for burn in, than lighter themes?

    • @MayitoTek
      @MayitoTek  5 лет назад +1

      the way I understand it , amoled screens will lose brightness over time ( dark more helps preserve the brightness) .. when it comes to getting an image burned, there is no one or anything that can tell you 100% how not to get an image burned. when you have two pixels at different brightness, it will cause a non-uniform decrease on brightness from the brighter pixel. When you use dark mode you end up with many black and white pixels, the white pixels are brighter and will deplete faster compare to the darker pixels resulting in the illusion of the image burned

    • @Scott-M1
      @Scott-M1 5 лет назад +1

      @@MayitoTek I see what you're saying. I got an LG V20 recently that has an LCD. A few years old. What i thought was burn in, was actually image retention/ghosting. Mostly around the edges, which is apparently normal. It does settle when the screen is off for a while or if i use those ghost screen apps. What's your input on LCD dark themes? • @MayitoTek
      @MayitoTek  5 лет назад +1

      yes that is very common with the LCD screens. The LCD screens are much harder to get an image burn compare to an amoled screen, but you do have to deal with the ghosting effect, I had many people mention they had that issue on their LG phones.

I don't have the ability to adjust the Adaptive Display White Balance let alone access the Advanced Settings when the Blue Light filter is on. I don't want to install one of those burn fix apps. It's not even isolated to certain Samsung Flagship phones, im using an A6+ for about 9 months now and noticed that the navigation bar and keys have been burned in on the bottom of my screen, i tend to leave it on 70 percent brightness so that might be the contributing cause to it but it just irks me alot whenever i watch a youtube video because even though it's faint, it's noticeable when lighter parts of the video starts to display and thats when i notice it, i wonder why this tends to happen on Amoled or Oled displays and not so much on lcd displays.

      Its because oled doesn't use a backlite display the pixels themselves light up were on LCD or qled use backlite displays so even when its at its brightness or watching movies or playing games countless hours wont effect those displays on oled it will since their is no backlite display powering it on and putting all pixels at full glance the only thing oled has is better picture quality and viewing angles but the fatal flaw is its screen burn

      Without any fade in brightness? Is your screen as bright as before running the app? The guy said he lost some of the brightness though burn-in seems better.

    So, I have a Galaxy M20 and what my screen is doing is even at a fairly low brightness, when I'm using my keyboard for more than 15 minutes or on the same screen, there's a little image retention. It goes away after 5 to 10 minutes but it's happening a lot. Is it because I'm using the dark mode in all the apps? And my brightness is always very low. Probably just around 20 percent. And I don't have it on auto brightness as well. But the image retention still happens a lot of times. Should I be worried?

      some people got the image burned after a few months. I think it comes down to the user. Keep the brightness at around 50% , have the screen timeout frequently, and don't display static images for long period of time. Those are all preventive measures, I have owned Samsung phones for a long time and never got an image burn
