Love your design! I'm guessing you're aware, but for almost nothing but the cost of the tank, you could do a similar build, and have a self-filtering ecosystem that requires little to no maintenance. Very cool either way.
i love when you and matt are in videos together, i have a video idea for your shrimp rack, you should set a budget and both do a shrimp tank and see how different they come out, side by side, the choices would be great to see from both of you!!
I can't talk for anyone else, but I enjoy when you talk through the next steps instead of just doing a bunch of cuts. Gives each build its own identity as its being built.

He keeps the room at the same temperature so no need for heaters (which is why he can move fish from one tank to another without acclimation). For filters I think he says in a few videos but it's just a basic filter. I would do your own research on filters and just make sure you don't buy anything that required you to replace parts, as that can remove beneficial bacteria. Heaters are not very complicated either
I love it when you open boxes of plants. You don't know how good you have it. Here in USA you get about 1/2 that amount in each bunch and half of them look like crap so end up throwing away another 1/4 in dead stems and leaves

I had a cichlid in a 55 gallon tank who passed after about 10 years. This video is great inspiration to a planted tank, which I am starting with the plants fist. Eventually hope to have some tetras, nostalgic for the ones I had as a kid. RIP Ahnold the cichlid
Love tetras. Love this tank. You have done so many wonderful tanks but this is at the top of the list right below the Red tank. This makes me want a bigger tank. I’m hoping you will put together a long cinematic transitioning from tank to tank showing each species of fish about its business in its environment, giving enough time to really observe the fish in their habitat. I had no idea red eyes schooled at the surface like that or maybe they were comfortable under the floating plants.

Love the new studio and tanks you are doing. Really should use 4or 5ft tank and bring back the electric blue acaras and Columbia tetras. Was my favourite tank from old studio. Also with some rams and try the keep All the plants South American to if possible would be interesting

What an enjoyable video! Honestly, I didn't realize it was an hour long until after I finished watching it. It was so much fun. Terrific mix of tetras, and the scape is really outstanding. This has given me some excellent ideas for rescaping one of my tanks. I love that you've subbed to that little kid's channel who left fan mail for you at Matt's shop. I will have to follow suit and sub them as well.
When I see how good Matts shop is it genuinely causes me pain. My local Maidenhead is quite good but this is like next level and I'm so jealous of having that standard of shop on your doorstep.
I fell in love with tetras recently and I kid you not I had the same idea to do a tank with many different kinds of tetras. I was so happy to see this video for that reason. I can’t actually get another tank for a few years so I am just vicariously living through this video. Amazing. (Of course, I would have had some embers in my dream tank because they’re my favorite, but I understand that they’re pretty small, so not suitable with the angels, not judging, I think it’s amazing still).

I love Golden Tetras! I got a group of them five years ago, and a few of them are still around, mixing with others. Mine are still a little shy, even after all the time, so I think a big group (or other companions) is important. They are "second glance" fish: not prominent at first, but very beautiful the longer you look at them.
Fun to see you select and set it up. It would also be cool to just to leave the camera running close to tank while they acclimate to see how they interact with one another and adjust to their new digs. IMO that part's even more fascinating than seeing it built. Well done :)
Great video as usual. Keep doing these low tech setups as it's such an inspiration. Also, including little graphics of the plant names really helps too.
I'm so jealous of the quality of plants u guys overseas can get. Aquafleur, ADA, Dennerle or Tropica, there's literally nowhere in America where u can purchase aquatic plants of that quality. Everything here from BucePlants to APF deliver pathetically spindly, spotted, brown & half holey leafed plants to ur door that take weeks to recover... if u have the experience to recover them. I wish so much that one of the European Co's would start a warehouse over here to ship to American buyers. They could double their business overnight.
I came here to say this! The only plants Ive grown well are from the local chain pet store, and they stock only like 4 or 5 kinds of plants. The local dedicated fish shop’s plants selection and quality also suck. Most online places are out of plants most of the time, and If i order something it’s usually half dead by the time it arrives. 😢

Do you ever use internal baffles (vertical pieces of glass or acrylic siliconed in place) to help terrace the hardscaping in a more dramatic manner and prevent that substrate base from later slumping forward?

I'm so jealous of the quality of plants u guys overseas can get. Aquafleur, ADA, Dennerle or Tropica, there's literally nowhere in America where u can purchase aquatic plants of that quality. Everything here from BucePlants to APF deliver pathetically spindly, spotted, brown & half holey leafed plants to ur door that take weeks to recover... if u have the experience to recover them. I wish so much that one of the European Co's would start a warehouse over here to ship to American buyers. They could double their business overnight.

The only plants Ive grown well are from the local chain pet store, and they stock only like 4 or 5 kinds of plants. The local dedicated fish shop’s plants selection and quality also suck.
Most online places are out of plants most of the time, and If i order something it’s usually half dead by the time it arrives. 😢

Looks great. Yes, I'm sure you know angels eat tetras in the wild. But those angels have a lot of growing before that's a issue. Tank look absolutely amazing!!!

Love the video. Really love have you keep it all real with what you do. You keep all the good stuff in the videos, like if you say something wrong, or drop something, or whatever, you just keep it going and laugh about it. I absolutely love it, because it's real and not totally edited. Matt always is a pleasure to see in the videos with you as well, so much fun when you two are together. Genuine videos are the best ones. Keep them coming and always look forward to the next one!
