- Conservative MP and former health minister Dan Poulter has announced his defection to Labour.
Mr Poulter also labelled the Conservatives a "nationalist party of the right".
The defection was confirmed by Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer and MP Wes Streeting.
Taking to Twitter, the Labour leader wrote: "It’s fantastic to welcome Dr Dan Poulter MP to today’s changed Labour Party.
"It’s time to end the Conservative chaos, turn the page, and get Britain’s future back. I’m really pleased that Dan has decided to join us on this journey."

It shouldn’t make a difference who the Tory leader is now. Changing their leader can’t change the fact that as a party they have completely ruined our country. They need to be punished for that by being voted out. There will be no incentive for political parties to try to serve the public interest if they can convince voters to keep giving them countless second chances by changing their leader.

Just remember this. Since 1979 the tories have had power for 33 years out of 45.
Since 1945 tories have been in power for 53 years out of 79.
They have had the vast majority of power. Every time they are in power working people suffer. There are always major industrial strike action. But yet labour get the blame.
We have little or no industry. All of our major companies have been sold and are ripping us all off. And it mostly only helps major shareholders and guess who they are.
The tories need to be gone permanently or at least a generation to teach these historical rich institutions a lesson in democracy. That democracy is meant to serve everybody not just the rich.

It appears that the question for Sunak ‘actually wanting to continue’ needs to be viewed. He’s a really smart fella, no doubt about it. He’s creaming the contracts available to him knowing he’s off.
