@crossedge From what I can see, the cost isn't that much. His dropkick doesn't have a direction (I'm not sure), so he can just hold a kick button and his throws are still usable, the reason he was a beast in 12. His defense is high, so he can turtle if needed. And the fact he can toss around can scare you from rushing him. Nevertheless, I agree the entire cast is very well-equipped. I'm especially happy about Leona, Vice, and Kim. I can't wait for Billy Kane though.
@crossedge He can dominate pretty easily, especially if he's in the hands of someone even fairly capable with him. Two of his moves are near game-breaking: Dropkick and Shoulder Tackle. His Dropkick crushes everything and moves full-screen, which means you can't guard against him. His Shoulder Tackle's auto-guard absorbs everything, which means you can't rush him. He was strong in 12, but in 13, it's not even funny.
@OrgXIII4U Yes his damage is huge, but at what cost? There's a reason people play him second or third as he needs the first character to gain stocks for him. Also, drop kicks require him to sit down and relax for a few seconds before he can really be scary. That said, I don't imply that he isn't broken. Admittedly, he is. I just mentioned Ash at the top of my head, really. However, even if there is a huge learning curve, it's quite impressive that all of the cast can hold their ground.
@crossedge His damage ease is a BIG difference, especially in this entry. His damage output is insane, and it cost him next to nothing, especially compared to the other chars. This game is all about combos, so him pulling a 60% with only half EX gauge is beyond unfair. For Ash, the mid-boss, to do the same would cost him the whole EX and 2 super stock. Yeah, it's possible to beat him, but the effort needed is too wide. And Maxima isn't low-tier, not with his God Press he isn't.
@BlackChronosXIII As you can see here, Raiden can dish out huge damage with even just 1 or so meters. He's got a solid defense and a ridiculous offense. K' has to have you think. He's got unpredictability due to the nature of his moves. His normals have good reach and priority too. Elisabeth's notorious because her super can hit airborne opponents for 1 power stock. Some may argue that other character's EX moves does this too, but she arguably deals the most damage. She's also hella easy to use.
It's an odd feeling figuring out you are a Raiden player. :P I thought the big guy was going to be bad, until I played with him...now he's my main. Funny how fighting games work.
@YuriBo26 He is ridiculously powerful and among the top-tier along with K'. He can still be beaten by a "low tiers" though so he doesn't necessarily dominate the whole game.
@crossedge I'm not saying he's not solid or well-built. I'm just saying that most of the vids you see have the player using 'The Trigger' over and over until one lands. It works because of 'Trigger's mix-ups and non-existent recovery time. All I meant was that while Raiden is broken, K' is just high-tier like Shen and Liz, to the point that it's boring watching people have him as a starter and often straight the other player.
Crouching C, HD Mode, Crouching C xx EX Tackle xx Heavy Poison, Light tackle xx Dropkick xx Heavy Tackle (charge that dropkick again immediately) xx Dropkick xx EX Tackle xx Heavy Poison, Light tackle XX Dropkick, Raiden bomb flashy ass 3 hit dropkick combo i found that only uses 2 meters and HD gauge.
@BlackChronosXIII As for your question about the people saying they need to nerf yadda yadda, some people have decent knowledge of KoF in general, but a good number of people also haven't played the game before. I guess they're just fed up seeing K', Raiden, Kula and Betty in about every video.
@fatalfuryguy No idea, really. Most "low tiers" are really just characters people don't really use as much like Daimon. Some people say Terry and Mai are low tier but I've seen ones who are really good..
@iliveinsingapore He looks like he'd be a slow grappler type but he looks like he ahs a lot of good ways to get close + his high damage output. Last I checked he was one of the top 3 characters which is actually very very rare for characters like him since usually they have an issue of slow approaches and bad against zoners but Raiden seems pretty damn good all round which means his high damage makes him really dangerous.
Yea he's one of my main characters. I mainly charge his sk drop kick cuz I need the wk to roll. He has high damaging combos, but he don't that easy to use. U still need skill to play with him.
Since Raiden got nerfed in the cosole version, combos number 9 and 11 don't work as Raiden's Drop Kick covers a lot less distance than the arcade version and it can't be used as a juggle.
@OrgXIII4U Good K's don't just sit back and spam Eins Trigger. K' normals are ridiculous. He's got really fast, low-hitting normals and his air normals have good reach and godly priority. If he manages to air CD you on counter hit, he could use qcb+BD and finish with his usual combo. He also gains ridiculously fast meter. And as you said, his strategy is dirt cheap. Raiden may outdamage K', but it still doesn't kick him off the S-tier.
@OrgXIII4U Yeah, it's true he can dominate the game pretty easily but really, the only difference between him and Ash is how easily he can mow down his opponents. Given a lot of practice, even normally lower tiered characters can dominate the game. Just look at Kaoru's Maxima. I suppose the drop kick should be nerfed a bit.
Does this guy have any weaknesses, like slow startup on normals without hyper armor, terribad mobility or really easily telegraphed moves? Because his damage potential is so ridiculously high it's not even funny.
Can someone specifically tell me how the drop kick is performed? It says hold or press the Hk or Lk then hold down for 4 seconds and release? I'm fustrated with it not working properly.
@fatalfuryguy It really hasn't. In older entries, it was because the some chars were so broken and there were so many chars that trying to tier them was ridiculous. The tiers don't really matter in this one because the cast is actually on pretty even standing, except for one or two broken ones. Case in point, the recent US tournament winner, Balla, dominated with King, who's listed as B-tier. So, just pick your favorites, get your meter mgmt down, and you'll have a good fight.
@fatalfuryguy Calling characters in this entry 'low-tier' is kind of unfair. With the exception of a couple, this cast is actually well-equipped and pretty even. Mostly, the tiers are: S-tier, A-tier, and B-tier, and the distance between is not really that wide. Going off stats, the B-tier is (I think) Joe, King, Duo Lon, and a few others. But they are not bad at all; they can still rule if taken lightly. Just pick the ones you like, learn a few combos, and you'll have a real good chance.
Seems to me like his tradeoff is that you must constantly be holding one of his kick buttons down to land shit, It's a simular situation with juri and her fireball stores, If you can get used to playing the guy with 3 or 2 buttons avalible at a time, you can unleash hell,
I would never play fighting games if all the characters were balance. Imo all he has is that dropkick. Hes free when you rushdown his ass but one hit confirm could lead to big damage. Bait out dropkick and rushdown
@crossedge Raiden mostly edges K' out. Raiden is ridiculous; most K' startegy is cheap. 90% of the people who pick K' just sit back and spam 'The Trigger' until one of them hits. Raiden's Dropkick and his Shoulder Tackle negate it, Dropkick because it destroys everything and Shoulder Tackle because it's auto-guard is basically impenetrable. That's just what I've seen. Raiden can beat you a couple way; K' is just cheap.
i figured with this one, that it be nothing but comments being about the dropkicks being overpowered and i'm not surprised that he's easy to use. Oh well I still like you Raiden, hopeful they'll debuff that shit, it not then i'll take out the shitty dropkick scrubs
Somebody needs the Sentinel nerf bat to their damage output when this hits consoles. Seriously, not hating on your vid because I love them just after combo 14 everything else seems pointless. 100% for less meter/inputs. LoL Never like Riaden and this game ain't making me change that...
to all the people who think the most balanced fighter ever would be the best one i say "fine go play street fighter 1, ru vs ken(clone of ryu in this 100%) and leave us be :)"
Is this character overpowered? I only watch this videos because KoF has some really really cool combos. But watching some of him in a stream he looked too powerful '-'
none of you know how overpowered he actually is in this game, you get hit ONCE and you basically lose the freaking round because he can destroy you in a single combo. His damage is ridiculous, and kick is pretty bogus that he can connect it to another kick which takes half your health at the cost of nothing.
I never knew Kof fans would cry so damn much like SF players who ask the company to patch shit everytime a new patch is released. What happend to no pain. . . . no gain? Learn to adapt
@crossedge From what I can see, the cost isn't that much. Awesome combo video. Thanks for uploading DDTC.

The Kim team looks insane, but I can't wait to see the ladies. Bring it on, King!
most awesome owning combo i have seen from a new character
This game looks so good I can't believe it! :O
That drop kick is the most jacked move I've seen in a while.
@OrgXIII4U Also, I didn't say Maxima was low-tier. What I meant was he was lower-tiered than Raiden.
@crossedge His damage ease is a BIG difference, especially in this entry. His damage output is insane, and it cost him next to nothing, especially compared to the other chars. Combo 14,20 and 21 = OVERKILL!!!!
He practically has the most Overkill combos in the whole game!
It's an odd feeling figuring out you are a Raiden player. :P I thought the big guy was going to be bad, until I played with him...now he's my main. Funny how fighting games work.
@YuriBo26 He is ridiculously powerful and among the top-tier along with K'. He can still be beaten by a "low tiers" though so he doesn't necessarily dominate the whole game.
raiden is big van vader!
@crossedge I'm not saying he's not solid or well-built. I'm just saying that most of the vids you see have the player using 'The Trigger' over and over until one lands. @MadVash2005 in fact MOST characters got nerfed, but is still posible to use some combos
the best part is BOMBAAAAA at the end of the combo 👊🏻
Crouching C, HD Mode, Crouching C xx EX Tackle xx Heavy Poison, Light tackle xx Dropkick xx Heavy Tackle (charge that dropkick again immediately) xx Dropkick xx EX Tackle xx Heavy Poison, Light tackle XX Dropkick, Raiden bomb
flashy ass 3 hit dropkick combo i found that only uses 2 meters and HD gauge.

If Rugal were here, Raiden's Neomax would give a new meaning to Rugal Spin.
@AkumetsuLord actually hugo was it final fight and I'm pretty sure that came out before fatal fury
@FATALFURYKID actually it was Andore : p but yeah it was first but Hugo character wise like from Final Fight Revenge/SFIII. Raiden was first
@fatalfuryguy No idea, really. Most "low tiers" are really just characters people don't really use as much like Daimon. Some people say Terry and Mai are low tier but I've seen ones who are really good..
@dracoyagami you forgot to mention k'
one word...amazing
when kof xiii comes out in north america I hope for the console version they add Tizoc just so I can an all grappler team with him , Raiden, and Clark
Thank god they nerfed that drop kick.
@AkumetsuLord I always seem to get those names confused
Why Raiden is Top Tier.
K is too, can't wait until you get to him, HD Cancelling Blackouts all day mang.
Since Raiden got nerfed in the cosole version, combos number 9 and 11 don't work as Raiden's Drop Kick covers a lot less distance than the arcade version and it can't be used as a juggle.
@DontDropThatCombo
Alright thanks for clearing that up.
@OrgXIII4U Good K's don't just sit back and spam Eins Trigger. K' normals are ridiculous. He's got really fast, low-hitting normals and his air normals have good reach and godly priority. I suppose the drop kick should be nerfed a bit.
Woot! Kings Next!!!
i would imagine thumb and ring finger, with index and middle using punches.
What do you mean when you say level 4 dropkick, are there levels for it? What do different levels do?
@FATALFURYKID yeah but it was still Hugo, so ur not wrong
Does this guy have any weaknesses, like slow startup on normals without hyper armor, terribad mobility or really easily telegraphed moves? Because his damage potential is so ridiculously high it's not even funny.
Drop kick is overpowered
Can someone specifically tell me how the drop kick is performed? It says hold or press the Hk or Lk then hold down for 4 seconds and release? I'm fustrated with it not working properly.
@JasperCorp *ryu
@crossedge Don't worry about it. Everyone's lower-tiered than Raiden.
I didn't know skittles could hit that hard.
Yay King's next! =D
Damn... 100% in less that 10 hits, LIKE A BOUSE!
@fatalfuryguy It really hasn't. In older entries, it was because the some chars were so broken and there were so many chars that trying to tier them was ridiculous. He's been nerfed a bit in the console version.
at least his supers aren't good because you need more reasons to save for EX tackle
Seems to me like his tradeoff is that you must constantly be holding one of his kick buttons down to land shit, It's a simular situation with juri and her fireball stores, If you can get used to playing the guy with 3 or 2 buttons avalible at a time, you can unleash hell,
Hmm doesn't he have non-meter combos in HD/CC mode?
Holy shit is Raiden OP or what.
@SHTF who needs supers when you can just dropkick everything?
I would never play fighting games if all the characters were balance. Imo all he has is that dropkick. Hes free when you rushdown his ass but one hit confirm could lead to big damage. Bait out dropkick and rushdown
OMG!!! This makes no fucking sense how powerful he is and fast!!!
Why is this guy so damn strong and not SNK's mascot, the Jiggly One? :(
They should release Raiden as Big Bear with a lot of different movements...
is there differing life values among the characters?
Combo 21 is a Urien combo.
@crossedge Raiden mostly edges K' out. Raiden is ridiculous; most K' startegy is cheap. 90% of the people who pick K' just sit back and spam 'The Trigger' until one of them hits. @orochinagis 7 hits= 4 stocks and full hyperdrive gauge.. looks fair to me
HEADO CRUSHO!
@jonoisgood i uploaded a 4 dropkick combo to my channel
i figured with this one, that it be nothing but comments being about the dropkicks being overpowered and i'm not surprised that he's easy to use. Oh well I still like you Raiden, hopeful they'll debuff that shit, it not then i'll take out the shitty dropkick scrubs
his supers are dumb except that clothesline, that things nasty
One of the more difficult combos I think
And I am BATMAN !
Somebody needs the Sentinel nerf bat to their damage output when this hits consoles.
Seriously, not hating on your vid because I love them just after combo 14 everything else seems pointless. 100% for less meter/inputs.
LoL Never like Riaden and this game ain't making me change that...
so powerfull
3dberserk1 READY GO!!!!
to all the people who think the most balanced fighter ever would be the best one i say
"fine go play street fighter 1, ru vs ken(clone of ryu in this 100%) and leave us be :)"
Is this character overpowered? I only watch this videos because KoF has some really really cool combos. But watching some of him in a stream he looked too powerful '-'

raidens punch super... its... so funny
Cannot wait to main this guy. Keep crying peeps!
Fucking insane.

dos dos...
i thought Raiden was a Mexican luchador
I never knew Kof fans would cry so damn much like SF players who ask the company to patch shit everytime a new patch is released. What happend to no pain. . . . no gain? Learn to adapt
bad joke
