Storytelling Series 2023: Abby Laporte

Abby Peyton Laporte is a writer, public speaker, and storyteller, advocating for people with SMI (Serious Mental Illnesses,) specifically type I bipolar and psychotic spectrum disorders. Laporte holds an MFA in Narrative Medicine writing from Dominican University of California. She has performed standup comedy in San Francisco and beyond, with an overarching goal of a happier and healthier world for all.
Abby's story touches on themes of resilience, awareness of privilege and inequity in treatment, dehumanization / re humanization, and persistent optimism.
