I think its likely part of the vocabulary of any State that relies or relied upon farming or ranching for its economic well being for most of its history. You spend more than half of your life fixing things so you can farm or ranch. Thanks for watching!
I really enjoy the content you create, they are a joy to watch, and the MYOG ones are the reason I gave to The Missus when the sewing machine showed up on the porch.
Hello again. Was fascinated by your kit for your upcoming camp. My experience of vintage geear only goes back 60yrs or so. Love the oven - I've got a Coleman's Camp Stove Oven and to my shame I've never used it so far. You may have inspired me to have a go. Looking forward to Pt 2 Every good wish Paul
The oven did work the charm and I do believe I'll be using it more. There's a video that shows how I figured out how best to use it. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! The idea came to me when I had to cook breakfast for 40 guys. It was fried taters and eggs and when I tasted the test batch it was kind of bland. I looked in the pantry and the first thing I saw was a box of Lipton Onion Soup left over from Herself making green bean casserole from Thanksgiving. It was perfecto.
I really enjoy your videos. You are informative and your advice is really helpful. I particularly like your home made labels on some of the things you pack and or carry. Thank you for all you do.
I'm working on a video, hopefully its out this weekend, on the Grant, Holden, and Graham Sleeping Robe, an improvement over the Woods bag. Thanks for watching!
@sargevining after watching this I went to searching for a period correct Tabasco bottle in 1993 you could purchase a anniversary addition bottle of Tabasco from the actual manufacturing site in Louisiana that had the correct stopper top
@@Cole1966 Well, dang. As soon as I read this I went looking. Didn't find a bottle but did see a cook book with a picture of it. Now that I know such a thing exists, I'll put it on my list of stuff to search for. Thanks!
Don't take offense! I Love when older generation people with such Vast experience and knowledge compromise and learn tech to be able to share. I wish more mature people would get online instead of all the dumb 20 and unders lol.
Thanks---I think. I really didn't have to work too hard to get old. It just kinda happened. But the way I look at it, I'm the same age as I've always been. But I do have to say that RUclips has been a boon to folks like me who want to spread some of the things they've found out, and those who want to hear them. But as far as tech goes, the most important safety tool for backpackers and back country campers has been the invention of the smartphone. But, apropos of your original statement, I'm always disappointed (but never surprised) when I read that there's been a Search and Rescue effort going on in a National Forest for a guy who was hiking with his Grandchildren and got lost or hurt and there's a line in the report that says "He was able to call 911, but his battery ran out before they could get a fix on his location. Thanks for watching! Hope to hear more from you.
Born and raised in West Virginia. "Fixing to " has been part of my/our dialogue my whole life.

Thanks for watching! You're going to enjoy the sewing machine. In a couple weeks, we're going to be making Warren Miller's sleeping bag.
This channel is like history/gear porn I LOVE IT
Thanks! That might be the nicest thing anyone has said to me all week!
Great video. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed the old ads, its very interesting to see the wording, price and uses they describe.
Definitely an approach that differs from today. Thanks for watching!
Good morning from Kentucky Sarge,
Great video. I really like the idea of the dried onions mixed with the onion soup mix.

Thanks for watching. I like making the labels and boxes. I'm playing with the idea of going back to making and selling the boxes.
Just found your channel from Way Point Survival. Keep up the great work 👍.
Thanks for watching! Hope you find more content that you enjoy.
Sarge did you ever make a video about making your own ice box? Can't wait! Thanks brother , David G
A Wood sleeping bag: for decades the best in the business!

Sarge, where do you find a “metal” chuck box???
I found this one on Ebay. Was in semi-rough shape, but a bit of elbow grease and some strong language fixed it right up. Thanks for watching!
Only one more item I would add to the Chuck box is Tabasco Sauce
Yes, and if I could find a decent period label and container, in it would go! Thanks for watching!
