I'm still on tab S7+ and it's still perfect for me. I skipped 8, 9 and 10 as well. I will upgrade only when my S7+ kicks the bucket. A tablet is NOT a laptop - that's for serious stuff. I also have the proprietary keyboard case for my S7+, but I've never used it except for testing. Seriously, who would prefer to type on a tablet keyboard, especiallly if for example MS Office is so minimalistic in its mobile version??? I think companies should upgrade tablets / phones every 2-3 years, hardwarewise. The rest can come through software updates. The hardware is mostly the same for 3 years, isn't it? What's happening now is just consumerism. Be wiser! Use your stuff till it REALLY can't satisfy you in basically the same way as before.
Until last year my favourite tablet was Samsung's 2016 Tab A, which I used in preference to the S3 I bought a year or so later. Last year I bought an S6 Lite when the Tab A was having greater problems coping with apps. This year I treated myself to an S10 plus, thinking a bigger, sharper screen would be good for my ageing eyes, but really I wonder if it was worthwhile, since I find, lacking Ivan's massive hands, the smaller S6 more comfortable to use. Many of us, me included, are dazzled by the hype of small technological improvements when perhaps we should be concentrating on whether we can notice any significant difference in the real world and whether those improvements will benefit us in our pattern of use. Some will need the improvements, but many of us won't. That said, it's nice to be future-proofed, even if I do feel like I've bought a Ferrari to drive to the grocery store.
Yet another excellent, hype-free, video. Afaik, if you don't game and mostly just consume video and browse, the Tab S9 tablets get a bit more screen on time. The SoC used in the Tab S9 and the Tab S10 were both made on the 4 nm process node. If you do a lot of gaming, but not the emulated titles, the Tab S10 has a clear edge. If you rarely upgrade then the extra years of software updates might be a factor. Or maybe not. Google's Project Treble has worked well for keeping older devices relevant, and as I type this from my PC, with my Tab S9 and Tab S9 Ultra charging, my still gorgeous to behold Tab S4, with Android 10, is downloading all the app updates that became available since I last had it turned on.
Thanks for the review, very helpful! Just had a quick look online the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ is at around £700 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ is at around £1000. For someone who is new to the tablet game you'd still say to get the s9+ considering the pricing difference here? Thanks!
Samsung didn't make enough changes for me to upgrade from the S9+. Especially when I'll get four years of updates. I expect to upgrade with the Tab S12 release, which is my typical upgrade time for tablets (every three to four years). Great video!
First let me say this.. Your videos have topped the mountain and are up there with the best of YT content.. Traded my s9 plus for s10 plus only because it gave free keyboard and 700 for my s9 plus. I think the only thing that is a question mark will be the longevity of the MediaTek 9300 plus over the Snapdragon 8 gen 2..
Placed an order for the same trade in, hope I don't regret it. Have you noticed any slight improvements in performance in power hungry games? The s9 runs most things smooth as butter already but I have found a few games and apps that could use a little more power
I think Samsung should move it's tablet release a month or two later, maybe to be available for Christmas, that way it could use the last cpu either from Qualcomm or mediatek. It is really unfortunate that just after a month of their release mediatek and Qualcomm presented their new cpu so practically the are already a gen behind after just a month or two.
Gonna upgrade soon, we still have the S8 Ultra and got it on release. It has been phenomenal ever since and hasn't slowed down a bit. We just need another smaller tablet for travel purposes, and the S10 seems to be perfect. The upgrade is only worth it every 2-3 years. If you're on S6-S8, then the upgrade is worth it. But if you have the 9, they seem to be pretty much almost the same thing. Year to year, the upgrade is minimal, it's when you start looking back multiple years. That's when the upgrades start looking massive
I'm new to the tablet world & and I am thinking if I get the 10 instead of the 9, it will last longer in terms of software support & any new upgrades. Does that sound like decent reasoning?
I’m planning to buy a Samsung tablet, and since it’s my first one, I’m torn between the Galaxy Tab S9+ and the S10+. Which one would be the better choice?
Many will look at the Tab S10 because it have seven years of update versus little over 4 yrs remaining on Tab S9. If I was to pick up a used one in the future, I would probably get the S10 since Samsung love locking down the bootloader on Snapdragon variant. Rip my Note 9.
4 years is if you only count security. In terms of OS updates (that is new features and ultimately app compatibility in the long term) it's only 3 left vs 7.
@_Digitalguy It wouldn't be too much of an issue if they unlock bootloader like past older devices or Exnyos ones. My Note 9 Snapdragon Android 10 is locked down to hell, but the Exnyos ones can be.
Only if the trade-in difference would be less than $100. I still remember that I upgraded my tab S7 for a tab S8+ for only $90, that was a great trade-in deal.
I am confused about which one should I go with the S10 plus or the S10 ultra . I am a medical school student and I find myself frequently taking notes. Further I should also add that I also prefer to use my tablet in my lap . Considering the huge size of S10 ultra I'm confused that if I try to use that in my lap I would find myself in a bit of trouble. I am planning to use any of the tab for not less than 4 years of time. I have got no issue with the budget. Your suggestion will definitely add to my decision. Thanks for considering my question .
get a screen protector.. the display glass is wafer thin.. try to imagine it.. battery.. shell.. lcd.. not much glass on top of all that.. it's like a wafer.. mine broke from a 20g paper clip falling on it.. it's strong against taps but not pin point objects like keys or anything sharp... my s9 lasted me 1 week.. $1000 cnd down the drain.. thanks samsung

Which combination of smartphone and tablets is best for me. Because i really want to buy ipad. Because of powerful processor. But my brother told me to buy S10+ for ecosystem. Can you please compare the tab s10 plus vs the m2 ipad pro 12.9 inch because they are the same price on the Samsung Website and on the apple refurbished 😊
Choose based on what you want to do with them and if you care about having whatever matches your overall ecosystem. The m2 ipad is still more powerful. It doesn't have an oled screen but it's still a nice screen too. it will outperform in pretty much every way, smoother gaming, more support from pro apps, better photo and video editing apps, etc. Lots of games have 120fps support on the ipad where they do not on the samsung. Games like genshin impact run at a higher resolution on the ipad, and just plain look better. The galaxy tab has a nicer aspect ratio for watching movies and videos, nicer screen, and WAY better multitasking. Three way split screen + pop up tabs for running multiple apps at the same time, seriously, the ipad multitasking is a joke in comparison. So for general use, the things most people use their tablets for, I personally chose the samsung over the ipads even though I'm in the apple ecosystem and don't regret it at all. Do I wish we got a processor that bridges the gap between galaxy tabs and ipads a little more? Yeah. But the galaxy tabs still feel extremely fast for pretty much everything.
Informative video ivan Im still rocking my S6 lite since 2022 and its runs like brand-new though with occasional lag when multitasking. Im planning of upgrading to s9 as my fiancée has refuse to marry me if i dont give her the S6 lite 😂
Samsung tablets are generally good. They're better than other tablets. A few small software fixes would be helpful. Users should be able to give feedback directly to Samsung. The biggest improvement would be adding a keyboard like the Magic Keyboard for the Tab S9ultra/ S10 ultra series... because in general this is the weakest point especially for ultra models which meant to be used as Productivity tool
I got the S6 tab lite as a free when i bought the s24+ phone, i like the size not so much the screen or performance, so it has prompted me to look up a better alternative
