Even after 3 years of your video being posted to RUclips, you have helped someone. Thank you for sharing this video. I've been stuck with which part goes where. I almost flooded my living room because I didn't have the stopper connected. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this video, it was just what I needed. I bought a cheap air stone/pump setup and wasn't exactly sure where to put the check valve, or even what it was. Thanks for explaining it all but also for keeping it short and sweet.

This is what I was looking all over RUclips for…an easy way to get that hose on LOL! I thought of using very hot water but wasn’t sure if it would degrade it. Thanks for confirming it can be done 👍

I had no idea where the check valve went it's a weird little thing I thought it went into water and I tried googling up but it was showing all these diagrams I couldn't understand but thanks to your video it's working great now thanks again.

    Great video
I need to hook one of these up
Ive never seen the stopper before i always kept the pump up high
    Or a drip loop
Rembering water safety around electronic stuff is good to know
Love this stopper idea but had no idea what it was
My stuff has very little instructions but i can't see fine print anyway
    So videos are great
    Thanks

How much would all of this cost, roughly

    • @miquelmontgomery2542

Huell The pump and tubing alone cost me $19 dollars and the sponge filter cost $3. It’s not that expensive especially when you find sales

Want your air pump overheat they restricting the airflow? I put a tea valve in to add the airflow valve soul a cut off pressure can run I watch the end and to the bubbler and not overheat the pump.

  • @lostandfound625

What's the point of having an air stone if you have a sponge filter that filters and gives bubbles? I got on airstone with my sponge filter

    Three points.
    1. Air pumps don't add oxygen to the water, otherwise all the oxygen tanks in the world could be replaced by simple air pumps. The oxygen is absorbed at the surface. The rising bubbles lift the depleted water to the surface, where oxygen can be absorbed. It also helps to keep the surface in motion, breaking a lot of floating oils.
    2. When you use an air valve in the way you do, you shorten the life of your air pump by forcing it to work against a partly blocked air line. It would be better to use a "Y" or "T" connector and have your air valve connected to the "unused" side. This allows the unrequired air flow to be bled off.
    3. Check flow valves can fail from either side. From the air pump side or the fish tank side. If the the line becomes unconnected on the air pump side, then the check flow valve will do it's job. But if the air line comes off the check flow valve on the tank side, then the water could flow out the air line. If the check flow is located inside the fish tank (just over the edge, but not in the water), then the check flow valve will either just fall into the tank or the air line will drop to the ground behind the tank.
Sponge filters are annoying to have to clean all the time and take up a lot of tank space.
