Beautiful car. I can’t imagine how much that would be valued at in manual trans. The biggest draw of the Targa models is the practicality. I can transport a decent sized film shoot with my 997.2 Targa 4S, including C-stands! Costco run, no problem! For urban drivers like me that have only one car, the Targa hatchback is the ultimate city sports car. I’ve gotten my mountain bike in the rear (with front wheel removed) and once a 49” tv in the box. I had mine fully wrapped in Paint protection film to keep the paint bin hood shape.
What a wild time capsule you have there. Wait to see my next series on the antithesis of this - a generously 137k mile driven 996 Targa! 😂

YT listed your post for me. Guess it's because as a owner of a 997.2 Targa 4s i seem to check related content. Your car looks super clean. Never saw rain, only washed a few times? I did this to an E-Type for 7 years even when driving with it through the alps. My Targa gets wet when driving to Italy, France in Summer. Unavoidable i guess. 113000 km clocked so far, lots of smiles per gallon as i drive it as it should be done. Manual Gears. Waiting for spring to come. Greetings from Bavaria to AZ. Thank you Jurgen. My grandfather had about 8 E-Types in his lifetime. Was one of my favorite cars of all time. Even Enzo admitted it was the sexiest car ever made. What’s that tell ya ?? 😄 I really enjoy this Targa 4S, but it would have been more fun with a 3rd pedal. 😎 Hence my channel name……GEARBOX GEEK
And the all wheel drive cars come with the wide body rear fenders like the Turbos, which give it that awesome stance. Also makes the car handle like bear claws on the pavement!
Those are fantastic cars to drive .. what is even better than a 997 is the 987, that’s the ultimate driver car with a true mid engine from that era… in MANUAL of course, the tiptronic is the most boring tranny Porsche ever made. The PDK on the .2 is a totally different story. But it’s all rainbows and butterflies until that crappy M97 engine develops bore score and your wallet will hurt by $30k for a rebuild
Nice video GG. I’m from Wales in Great Britain and I wish we had just a fraction of your weather over here! That still doesn’t stop me being an admirer of the targa top and I’m currently hunting for a nice Gen.2 targa PDK which will be a retirement present to myself! I’d be interested to know what you think of the roof, the operation, pro’s & con’s, etc. You come across really well in your videos in my opinion. A nice relaxed, factual and friendly delivery style. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for the very kind words chap!! Means a lot to me. 😎. So our car has only 9800 (or so) miles currently. So it’s basically as new. So the stories I’ve heard and read about with squeaky Targa tops, doesn’t hold true here. Ours is very smooth operationally, and does not rattle or squeak. We have it open almost all the time while driving it. It has a retractable shade as well. The same switch in the center console controls both. It’s EZ to use and is very intuitive. So as for con’s……I really have none to tell. This would be a FABULOUS retirement gift for one’s self! We bought this car during Covid (July 2020) before the car craze hit, so we got a really nice deal on it. We are the second owner. My intuition tells me that the first owner rarely opened the top? Though he lived in California. A Gen.2 would be a safer bet, all things considered. Best of luck to you on your search, AND your retirement sir!

Beautiful Targa 4S. I have an 06 Carrera S in a non-standard yellow with the Aerokit. Love it. Waaaaay more miles than yours though. And I’m glad. If it only had 9700 miles I’d be way too precious with it. I’ve put about 7K miles on it during my 2 years of ownership. I don’t normally care for the Fuchs but they suit your car well. Need a ducktail to complete the look, I think.
Hey man! Thanks for the kind words. When I bought these Hartman wheels, I was trying to find the old school “matte” black look….not the shiny black like the newer 991 Sport cars have. I also agree that they suit my car. I believe it’s a combination of the Guards Red, and the wide body. Normally I don’t keep stock rims if I replace them, but in this case I was warned that P-car owners would be turned off if it was for sale and I didn’t have them. Like I think I mention in the video, I’m an American car guy at heart, and that is a bit less taboo to do with an American car. Looks like it’s been a minute since you posted another video…..let’s see one of your ‘06! 😎🍿

You’re absolutely right about stock wheels on a Porsche. I wanted the stock wheels when I bought mine. There aren’t too many wheels I’d swap out with my stock ones. AWC makes custom Turbo Twist which I would love to have some day. But they’re basically a 19 inch version of stock wheels, so not drifting to far from OEM.
