How can Alma play on an electric keyboard? Alma needs a Fazioli or a Steinway! And that is one of her earliest pieces, though very charming. Her swiftness on the keyboard is impressive even in a simple melody.

Why not? Take care of the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves.
Not all TV studios will have a real piano there just for 4min usage in every other month. And don't forget the assurances. Logistic nightmare for such small studios. I would assume that this Yamaha piano is probably one of the best existing digital pianos otherwise Alma wouldn't play on it but still quite cheap compared to a grand piano.

    • @Arturo.H.M
      @Arturo.H.M Год назад

@@ardvan you can be sure that this is not a high level electric piano, and not a medium low level. It's not a full piano.
An medium level electric piano, full piano, is not expensive for a TV station. Probably with cost of an studio light you will have more than enough.
My daughter bought one last year when she were in Poland and has no access to her grand piano, it cost around 500€, it's a full piano and sound better than this.

I don't understand German, but just seeing her smiling face: thumbs up! On the other hand, for you thumbs down, you couldn't even provide her with at least a Yamaha P115? Not even a real, heavy piano touch on that keyboard... Frankly, you're lucky she was willing to play on it, and it says a lot about her personality!

I also had to shake my head about that cheap discount-piano with the synth-sound. Its like giving Michelangelo discount fingercolors for children, and saying to him 'please make something beautiful with it'' ... sure he can do it... but first, its not the same, was with professional equipment... and second, its just insulting. I dont say, it has to be the most expensive stuff... but as you perfectly said, luc5798 : at least a decent digital piano, with heavy piano touch , and with real recorded samples (per note). Good digital pianos can sound quiet good, with those recorded samples. This digital piano in the video had a very synth-sound ... its literally the quality from the 80s.
I also agree, that because of her personality they had a big luck, that she was willing to play on that piece of sh*t.
For learners/beginners, that piano is okey. But even for a mediocre piano-player its not good enough anymore. On youtube i saw many hobby-pianoplayers, who had a much better digital piano (and they deserved it).
Alma on the other hand is a maestro - and really deserves at least a digital piano you mentioned. I still cant wrap my head around, why they gave her that piano. I am native german speaker, and in the video they talk about the phrase 'Wunderkind' (miracle child) , and she points out: even when she was a child, she didnt liked that phrase - because the word child in it suggested: that she isnt a serious composer. And she said, she always, even as a child wanted to be taking serious. She then said: now that she is 18, she finally is taken more serious - because of that ''number'' .
All of that proves, she strives a lot to be taken serious... and then they give her a cheap discount-digital piano to play on it. For me, thats a disgusting treatment of such a big maestro!

Alma spoke about her upcoming event where she will be interacting with her audience, directing a piece from Strauss, playing both piano and violin, and inviting the audience to sing along at times. She spoke about loving working as a conductor with the orchestra, that music is her native language, and that the musicians are so talented and it’s wonderful how well they work all together… that they all have such fun.

    • @PygmalionFaciebat

Even worse... that digital piano wasnt even a good one. There are good ones out there, which can sound indistinguishable from real ones (at least, when someone isnt there itself). Digital pianos which have their notes "recorded" by real pianos, and "calibrated" for the different 'kinds'' of sounds of a note. But this digital piano here, was very synth .. almost like midi-format. It clearly looks as if they invited Alma Deutscher first, and only after that someone hat the idea "she could play something before we interview her"...and then in the panic, they didnt knew "where to get a piano" ... and some guy from the staff brought his old cheap digital piano from home , and they gave it to Alma to play on. Thats really embarrassing. Sure Puls 4 isnt a big tv-channel like ORF .. but still - big enough to efford at least a state of the art digital piano. This piano was very cringe. I feel sad for Alma that she had to play on that 'thing' ... Its like giving Michelangelo the cheapest discount-watercolors , and demanding : 'paint something beautiful with it - we want to show it on tv'' ... Sure he could do beautiful with it too - but still .. its way below his capabilities. The same happend with Alma. In my opinion thats insulting towards one of the greatest composers of the 21th century!

Actually she will be 19 in February but I have been following her developing career since she was 10. That was when she wrote her opera "Cinderella" having already written her piano concerto at 7 and her violin concerto also around 10. It is a shame to Great Britain that she had to move abroad because the classical world in this country failed to recognise her genius. Now it is with joy Vienna can open Alma to the world.
By coincidence Mona and Lisa Wagner who together formed a pop duo called the MonaLisa Twins departed Vienna in 2014 for the UK for the same reason there was little public support in their homeland. They settled near Liverpool being devotees of the fab four's music and are progressing their career here. I personally love them and I wish both Alma and MonaLisa every success in their chosen field of music. I love them all.

Alma's father is a linguistics expert and is German Israeli and mum is the English side of the familial set up.
Alma and her family moved from the UK to Vienna a few years back as it was obvious the would not get the opportunity required to progress with her chosen future in her homeland. The thing you should understand about Alma is that she doesn't find performing a chore. She just loves music and always looks as though she is enjoying herself while astounding the music world with her inborn talent. Alma was simply born to play.

@@WackyWitchTV I also dont understand his comment. She is in my opinion definetely already the biggest composer of the 21th century. For me she is one of the 4 big names: Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Deutscher. (i know there are a lot more, like Haydn, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart and many more... but in my own opinion, those 4 composers understood the most about music, and revolutionized it in the biggest possible way (Bach is for me on the first place.. very close to it is Beethoven.. Deutscher is for me on par with Beethoven (so for me, she is also on the second place) - and Chopin on third place).
This means (in my opinion), that someone like Alma Deutscher is literally only born every 250 years! We have big luck to live in her lifetime! Its like living in the times of Beethoven or Mozart.
I know many composers (as all here in the comments, i assume) .. even movie composers, like Ennio Morricone, or Hans Zimmer, etc ... and for me: Alma Deutscher is way more superior in composing. And that means something - because i consider Morricone and Zimmer as giants in composing! Thats how big Deutscher is, in my opinion!
Therefore, i absolutely cant understand how someone can say, that others are much more creative than her.
Even her early works, when she was only 6, was for me on par with Beethoven and Mozart, and Schubert.
And because she is 18 ... i can definetely imagine, that she evolves to a much bigger composer than she already is.
Btw the newer versions of her Cinderella i dont like so much though. Its ''to polished, .. to exxagerated... the original ideas are kind of drawning in that ''making it more hilarious'' ... In my opinion, its very important (not only in music arts) to keep the original idea as pure as possible ... (its the most pure, when its in his sketch-phase.. but at that stage its understandable : not good enough ... in the process of polishing, it gets better , but also usually loses parts of his original energy... a good artist tries to balance the loss of that energy and the polishing).
I think she is still evolving, and will get better and better... As i said: for me she is already one of the 4 big names.
