Got the cd when it came out. Without trying it is on my forever personal playlist. Thought Dan John was a bit much when he launched. But rocked this album at least once a month for nearly 20 years..stellar talent all-round
It's scary to me that an album as cool as the Dissociatives first and only went pretty much unnoticed worldwide, every aspect of it is of such a high quality
@@lemarechaltateau I think I might agree with you. I mean, every single Silverchair album is kinda perfect. And Diorama is hands down the best album I think he ever made. Maybe. Sometimes I think it was this Dissos album. It depends on my mood. But this album is immaculate. I could easily spend the next hour writing a long drawn out explenation of why I think this album is creative genius....but I'm gonna just leave it at that. lol
I've been a huge Silverchair fan since the beginning and I'm telling all my friends and some stranger's to check out Daniels new style of music which I can't get enough of 100% fell in love with this. 2022 I have Daniels new music to in my car.
Omg I fell in love with Dissociatives & falling in love again after whoisdanieljohns podcast. Can’t get enough. Daniel really looked like he was having fun performing this album. So experimental and a little vaudeville. I adore it. I had never seen this gig before. What a night. Amazing 🤩
ikr?? As much as I'd kill for a new Silverchair album......if I'm being honest, I'd far prefer a second Dissos album. Every single Silverchair album is kinda perfect. And Diorama is hands down the best album I think Daniel ever made. Maybe. Sometimes I think it was this Dissos album. It depends on my mood. But this album is immaculate. I could easily spend the next hour writing a long drawn out explanation of why I think this album is creative genius....but I'm gonna just leave it at that. lol
Wow. This blows my mind. This is so magical. Every time I hear this I think of magical mystery tour by The Beatles... I want to make music like this..... I need to listen to this whole album as much as I can

Kidding me? I loved watching him and his music grow , didn't like seeing him unhealthy, but he was still an awesome performer through all of that....that takes a strong person... I'm an always on board fan from a2z! Let's face it he was a child when he started , not even a man-boy like most guys late teens early 20's those are man-boys! Your frontal lobe doesn't even finish forming/growing till your 25! What was he?? 14 , he deserves a whole lot more credit than some people give him for while he was "growing up" ages! His music was still.wonderful and kudos to him and his band , crew , managers ,parents for these once boys not slipping into the spiraling down addiction hole that have taken some of our best musicians ever! I'm pretty sure they've been offered just about anything just so someone can " meet" them and try and be a so called friend! So, don't knock him, you did not walk in his shoes!
it would be great if this band announced a comeback! their music always pleased me. (I first heard it in 2007, and, their sound, still seems so new to me today). they were great live. I had the DVD of that performance. someone stole it from me, so, thanks for posting this show! cheers from Brazil.
I listened to this album back in school and I really liked it. In 2018 i decided to listen to this record again and since then listening it every few month. -) One of my fav albums and gigs. Also, brings warm memories of sunny lisbon which i visited in 2019 and these were one my most memorable days in a lifetime. Sunny weather with drinks and cloudy songs - best mix ! Daniel here in his prime.
Not only ie Daniel's voice so versatile...but he can bring out such an eray of emotions...even with his album diorama...some of these somgs i hear a bit of thst as well...i also hear a bit of nin in "we're much preferred customers" hes so multi talented so is the dissociatives as a whole psul mac is stunningly great! Without paul i dont think this would have worked as good. I hope Daniel n the posse are doing well now n days...we need more music like this in today's world music= healimg light :))

Instead Daniel Johns going solo or back to Silverchair... He should go back to doing this shit. Every song on the album is so amazing to listen too when your stoned
Isn't it just! Ha, discovered it a few months ago around the time I was dropping a bit of acid and when I was getting stoned over the summer. It's amazing anyway but yeah... wow. Definitely Diorama of Silverchair and this album of theirs. Top stuff.
keaulana1 agree.. Paul Mac was a completely different artist to Daniel and Silverchair, and a completely different person too .. I couldn't think of a worst type of artist for Daniel to get with .. compare this music to any thing Daniel worked on in the first three albums of Silverchair, really emotionally charged raw energy from an angsty teenager writing authentic music pouring his soul out on records and on stage who was the voice, icon and inspiration for so many young people .. this is pure and utter pop garbage that means nothing .. for all you people buzzing out on this I hope it's fucking worth losing one of our greatest guitar icons and the brilliant class act that was Daniel johns .. Paul robbed him of his individuality, his authenticity and his class and he robbed us of one of the greatest rock stars Australia ever produced, not to mention Silverchair, how fucking special were they , is this special? No, this makes me sick .. Paul mac was highly irresponsible and immature, lacked any form of class and dragged Daniel down to his level, he should have known better, he should have left Daniel and Silverchair alone .. what a fucking atrocity.
I am a long date Daniel Johns/Silverchair fan, but it took me too long, just back in 2021, to first listen to The Presets (drums and other keys on this gig). It also explains how good the Dissociatives are live. P.S.: It's funny to see that Daniel covered off the "sol" and the "o" from his Soldano amp so it reads just Dan. Later, still with Silverchair, he would use two Soldano amps, one being the same used here and the other with the "dan" from Soldano hidden, so it reads "dan solo".
Great little project this one, that I’ve just rediscovered. A Beatles vibe, modernised in a way that’s familiar to Tame Impala and Gorillaz. Perhaps continuing with some additional records would be worthwhile....
Wow. Super group of unbelievable Aussie musos. Wilfully taken back in time. So it's 2021 and I'm pondering. Pondering about what comes after young modern (yes a different group)? Is young modern really a full stop? Bloody hell I hope not because with every new album came a revolution. Sometimes with a vb wondering to myself and outloud, "what if?" What if, someone with commitment, skill, talent, interest and bravery came and delivered something to these ears in the 2020's that blew us away yet again? I ponder such. But. That was effing sick!
Young man, Old man is my fav from this set. Omg.... so much Beatle Energy! But I think Daniel has to have the BIGGEST CHANGE in appearance just by cutting his hai from ANYONE I've ever seen! You look at a 2003 show then this (2004) and he looks sooooo much different... Then compare 2003 to the 2005 show and Holy moly..Completely different person... but after 2005, he hasn't changed much at all even 14 years later.
Been looking for a version of Somewhere Down the Barrel, MTV Australia awards performance, someone put up long time ago and was taken down. Wish it would come up again.
Na minha humilde opinião, acredito que o Daniel Johns deveria ter dado fim de vez ao Silverchair e ter investido no The Dissociatives. Era um trabalho que, ao meu ver, tinha uma qualidade musical muito melhor do que sua antiga banda. ;-)
Sir Daniel is surpassing me. Paul imo. Dr. John's is really picking up on a Lennon-like vibe going on! Grew up listening to this album when it came out on repeat and lost interest in band cause the live shows were disappointing and this one blew me away and will make me a huge fan again!!
Still going hard with this album in 2023. So fuckin' good.
Got the cd when it came out. Without trying it is on my forever personal playlist. Thought Dan John was a bit much when he launched. But rocked this album at least once a month for nearly 20 years..stellar talent all-round

Yeah honestly.
Yes it's perfect. And everyone who feels that way about their music is also right
I got it at release in Canada and here I am.
Amazon music somehow got me here. I’m a big silverchair fan I didn’t know about this side project
Maddening.
This was the best side project Daniel has ever done even to date.
I believe this is the best project Daniel has ever done
@@lemarechaltateau I think I might agree with you.

Young Modern felt more as a Dissociatives album
Such an amazing album. This is a masterpiece. Truly.
Daniel Johns is such an underrated vocalist. I'm always amazed by the variety of textures and colours he gives his voice.
Daniel's musical gifts are many. The BEST Voice God made, in my opinion❤
Just introduced this to my 11 year old…she is in love! Such a timeless album. ❤️

OMG. For the love of God, make a second album!
Yeah, agree! :)
Sebastian Cardoso - are you Paul mac hidden in a fake account?
And a third while you're at it!
Unfortunetely even if he decided to make a second one, it probably wouldn't sound like this. This was unique...
ikr??
As much as I'd kill for a new Silverchair album......if I'm being honest, I'd far prefer a second Dissos album.

This is a masterpiece performance. It feels like a fantastical journey into the unconscious. A beautiful expression of ineffable wonder and mystery.
I really love how Daniel Johns have evolved. From angsty kid to a mature grown-up. His versatility is damn epic. Truly a genius, a virtuoso!
30:54 emotion sickness happy version!
😂
This group is insanely talented. Not everyone's taste, but they're nuts.
Dan has such a gorgeous voice!
Vibing to it still in 2022 ♡
This is good as anything you'll ever see....anywhere, anytime.

2020 and still rocking out to this!
These comments are so dumb.
Do you pray and tell God "it's 2021 and I'm still reading your book"?
Hitting the Dissociatives hard after a 10 year break, soo good, I was at this gig, incredible stuff.
Lucky! I only discovered them a few months ago, the album and this video. It's an incredible performance, truly transcendent!

I discovered them during MTV Australia Music Awards 2004. I am still listening to them. A big pity that this project stopped after this LP.
Seriously only 824 likes and a hundred and fifty comments on this perfect performance?-(
Wow, I was thinking of going to this but the person I invited didn't want to go. Wish I just went by myself, this is awesome :*(
I've been to a few gigs on my own. Not gonna miss out on a band I love just cos someone else doesn't wanna go. Just go and you won't regret it!
this whole performance was epic from beginning to end. one of the best albums I've ever heard. thank you so much for posting this.
Mitchell Huneycutt shut up Paul Mac

There’s some Radiohead in this. Fairly incredible for a band which was only formed a few months prior.
Great Tom Waits cover. I just wished you would have played "Rain", "Stagging a traffic jam" and especially "Home"
This is spectacular! Thank you for uploading
This is what I listen to when my depression and anxiety are at an all time high because the music is so beautiful and makes me happy
Someone watching in the quarantine?
Yes sir! Saw the whole concert

Cristiana Cerqueira I like your videos Cristiana
Anyone else still listening in 2004?
My close-mindedness never let me give this a chance years ago. I was wrong, short-changed myself, but I'm in the moment with this now, so who cares?
Incredible Much better in live than in the EP
Yes. Please
The end of Thinking In Reverse game me goosebumps... Fucking incredible
Reverse chords, reverse fret changes then some classic harmonies followed by some screams. Nuts, pure psychedelic.
I love this album. All good music always gets unnoticed its a shame but💯
Horror With Eyeballs, though ❤❤❤

All of em!

Paul Mac looks like Joe Rogan.
Paul Mac, el Daniel Melero de Silverchair.

Barefoot67 Fender telecaster deluxe
Tripping balls
Paul wants to do a love song dedication
ducks ducks ducks...lol
Any chance of a second album? Any chance Daniel gets together with Craig Nicholls of The Vines?
Dude! Dan and Craig were such influences of my music. Vines and Daniel johns colab would be awesome
