This style of open world is what I wish Reverse 1999 had
Wdym? R1999's style is unique in that it looks like a part of it is hand-drawn. Besides, it isn't made to be open world either. Rather, it's pretty similar to Echocalypse and Azur Lane (both amazing gacha games gameplay-wise) in that they have a main menu screen.

And judging by the lacking of content in r1999, it's not a bad idea (I'm so excited for the raid mode tho)
my only problem about these idle game is u need to pull like 8-12 copies of the same SSR to maxed it out and its always stat check
Yeah it's content gated behind stat check, stats that u can only upgrade by playing for a long time and/or being lucky on pull.
being afk arena did same, and so did dislyte
We usually get lots of pulls in games like these and an easier mean to obtain copies of specific characters which makes it easier to break through if you are stuck
These games are made for 3>6 years of play in mind

I really dig the art style so I decided to pre-register. I'll definitely give it a go when it releases. I never played AFK type games before so I wish it had optional turn based combat with grid type movement like XCOM.

I've been testing out some idle games, and this one looks really nice. I didn't get into afk arena because I'm avoiding 2D games because they feel... "too flat" for lack of a better expression. Pre-registered and hope it releases soon!

as someone who used to play Arena from before it even went global hot dang is this a massive upgrade graphics wise from the original and you actually do something in the gameplay instead of just pressing the ult when its full

Yea it's stat check, thats the whole point LOL. The person with the highest power level will be stronger usually, but if you have slightly lower power level you can still win with better synergies. And abilities are very in depth if you look into it so it's actually a good thing
*AFK Arena* is a lot of things, and none of 'em is "idle": it needs _way too much_ micromanagement for a game with "AFK" (Away From Keyboard) in it's title, with it's store items reaching _extreme_ levels of predatory. The final insult is it's co-op / PvP progression, as players are divided in "channels" (mass added at each season) and collab for progression while being compelled to spend in order to stay useful to everyone else on their friend lists and guilds. Even with it's flaws and cost, the gameplay loop and unit progression feels amazing.
... *AFK Journey* seems to be *AFK Arena* with a touch of *Dyslite* - thus cleaner, prettier and slower. I hope that it turns better than it's predecessor!

I really liked AFK Arena, but the biggest thing I didn't like about it, which always deterred me from coming back, is the server system, or more like how behind you can get in a server if you didn't play for a long time and then have to start from the beginning on a new server. I didn't like really like that, but I guess, that's because of the PvP it has with the occasional PvP event. If that wouldn't exist, I'd probably play it for a couple of months, take a break for a month or so and then resume it. That's really my only major problem I have. Otherwise, I have always loved the artstyle of AFK Arena and in Journey, it does look really good as well. I guess I have to just wait and see

For example, me: I am looking for a genuine review of the game to see if it’s worth playing. Should I take the word of someone reviewing the game honestly? Or take the review of the guy who is being paid by the creators to talk positively about it?
I had no idea what AFK Journey or AFK Arena is a few minutes ago, I honestly thought this was basically a western made Genshin Impact based on the trailer for it, and honestly I'm kinda disappointed because that's exactly what I've been looking for :( The game still looks interesting though, maybe I'll try it when it comes out on PC.
I hate to hear when people describe a game with "you can step out, it respects your time, you don't have to care" etc, I want to play ga damn game, don't want to check in daily for 4 minutes.
