Does anyone else get goosebumps when they play that sound when people win both showcases?

Showcases back then were little productions. Now, they just lay out the prizes one after the other.

Thank God for flatscreen TVs. Those must have been a pain to get in back then.

Being off by $4 was very close.

The Apple II computer was very popular in 1981. I actually had a TRS-80 computer, and I recall watching The Price Is Right at a friend's house back in 1980 or so, and there was a TRS-80 Model I "up for bids." Because I was so familiar with the TRS-80 equipment, I knew the price was $499. That was the price to which it was discounted maybe 2 years after it first came out in 1977. That was the most basic model, without any add-ons. I don't know what the MSRP of an Apple II was, however, as I never studied a catalog with those.

That music makes me think about the Macho Man Randy Savage Oooh Yeah!!!

That's because Pomp and circumstance was the theme of Randy Savage and was played in this scene.

I thought the same thing! Every year at graduation I hear that song and think of him.

That first showcase looked like junk. No wonder the woman passed it to Clement. He was only off by $4 so he won both showcases. Great!

If he sold the Apple II for $1,000, and bought Apple stock for $0.08/sh, it’d be worth about $3.4M today.

greatness wouldn't happen again on the Showcase until December 2008.
$4 off is no big deal now, after Terry bid exactly right $23,743.

The $4 off the APR also happened on the very first episode of The Price is Right back in 1972. 2nd closest in TPIR history behind the perfect bid.

Rarely does a gentleman get the Curly siren! And I missed it because Houston didn't have the show.
