The ending was good except for the whole overly religious afterlife thing. I know DC has spirits and demons and Gods and things but it isn't Christian. It's all obvious fiction and fantasy and multiple realities and what-not.
Clark and Lois can be ghosts but given what is in the DC Universe, there ain't a Heaven considering there are multiple Gods and kingdoms and it's all established they are essentially super powered humans that were perceived to be Gods as a result.
So I very much will see it as that because the alternative is conservative fantasy cringe being inserted into a Superman show.

The Man of Steel possessed many extraordinary gifts, and he shared them with us freely. None of these gifts were more remarkable than his ability to discern what needed to be done, and his unfailing courage in doing it, whatever the personal cost. Feels weird seeing Superman die of old age on screen. Like yeah in the comics even with his normal heart it could happen. Still feels weird seeing it shown. This was a pretty wholesome way for Clark to go out not by some epic battle with Doomsday but by knowing he did all he could as a person and raised 2 good kids and touched so many lives. That’s a death worthy of a hero like Superman. Yes I know in the show he did still get a first death that is more in line with how he has died in the comics before.
