I loved this game as a kid! Great job at least giving it a chance. One little confusing thing with the title is that, even though it is called High Heat 2004, it came out in Feb 2003, while MVP 2004 actually came out in March 2004. So this game was actually up head-to-head against MVP 2003, which was rougher around the edges than MVP 04 or especially 05. At the time, I remembered thinking MVP 03 had far superior graphics but games like ESPN/World Series 2K, High Heat and All-Star Baseball had certain gameplay elements that were better. It was kind of a golden age for baseball games, because there was so much competition. Little did we know that High Heat would be gone after this installment, ASB would be done after the next release, and even MVP would only have 2 additional MLB licensed editions after the spring of 2003.
This game was wayyyy better than mvp to me just for the customizations alone. The controls were easy enough for anyone to pick up and have a good experience. This and mlb 06 the show are my favorites of all time. Also one of the only games you could hit moonshots with bonds.
If you’re doing all these throwback games you gotta look into All Star Baseball, I think it was either 2004 or 2005 but I used to love franchise mode on that
The High Heat baseball games were overall pretty good. One thing that drove me nuts is that the catcher never throws the ball back. The ball just magically reappears in the pitchers hand after every pitch
This game was released in 2003, not 2004. At the time, baseball games had their year one year ahead. That is why High Heat 2004 was actually 2003. Even EA Sports with their previous Triple Play series did it this way. Why? I have no idea. By the time MVP Baseball started, High Heat was discontinued.
You gotta see the PS1 games 2000 2001 and 2002. If you want games that didn't age well... Ooof. Lots of PS1 baseball games hold up. MLB series by 988 which was The Show but on PS1 Triple Play Baseball which was MVP on PS1 And even the first Baseball game 3D baseball holds up better. High Heat are alright sins with stat tracking. But boy has time not been kind to the visuals
I think there might be an option to increase Pitch speed I know mlb espn baseball had that option as well as international teams like Venezuela and Dominican Republic

high heat had the best pitching and hitting as it was stats based
I had this as a kid but it always froze up on me.
Great baseball sim🇺🇲
I think high heat had the best hitting sim. just the graphics were bad
This game was great but the graphics were terrible compared to MLB 2k4 and MVP04 and All Star Baseball
I agree. So many fond memories.
