This analysis of Labour's internal politics is not entirely correct. *So in order to see things from different perspective, let's look at the FUNDING MODEL:*
During the reign of Tony Blair, Labour accepted donations from large corporations and from some super-wealthy backers. HOWEVER, prior to Blair and before Starmer, most donations were from the membership (only small amounts) but mainly from affiliated Trades Unions.
Now under Starmer, donations from the Trades Unions only makes up a small percentage of the total donated, almost all of which come from wealthy backers and from large and multinational corporations.
This means that Labour is now beholden to these donors - like the previous (Tory) government, in fact. The saying *'He who pays the piper calls the tune'* has never been more apt.
The problem Starmer has with Rayner is that she would prefer that funding were not coming from the super-wealthy and corporate interests, because she is well aware that this will inevitably compromise Labour policies, possibly in terms of aims and objectives, but certainly in terms of pratical outcomes.
It is a similar picture with NHS funding, which Rayner would prefer to come from public finance alone, but where Starmer, Reeves and Streeting want to see further private investment (ie even more covert privatization of the NHS).
The reason why Dr Rosena Allyn-Khan was demoted from her previous position in the Shadow Cabinet is because like Rayner, she strongly objected to further covert and creeping privatisation of the NHS 'through the back door.'
But whereas Allyn-Khan was unsupported by Trades Unions, Rayner has strong backing, making it harder for Starmer to demote her as he did Dr Rosena.
It is my opinion that Starmer, who is a highly dictatorial leader, will seek an opportunity to rid himself of Rayner, who is - from his perspective - a somewhat troublesome thorn in his side.
Starmer will be aided and abetted by Peter Mandelson, along with his fellow cenre-right cabal including David Evans, Luke Akehurst, Wes Streeting, Morgan McSweeney, and various other aperatchiks.
For now, Rayner is protected because she is connected. For now...

This has been mentioned before with how Angela Rayner presents well at PMQs and Kid Starver is pretty twitchy when others are found to be more popular or viewed as more capable with the public than he is. Similar rumours around the Labour Candidate in Clacton, I don't trust Kid Starver, I don't think he has an original idea in his head, and will change direction at the beck and call of his money backers and lobbyists not us the electorate, and he has backtracked and lied on promises/pledges/policies repeatedly. Even in his talent gutted Labour there are better options, we need to get rid of him before we end up with a labour party talentless hacks and the torys get back in as a result.

Could I make the point that Angela's department is not restricted to Housing either in substance or name? It includes local government which is where 'levelling-up' should be delivered - the term was very much Johnson (IE meaningless fliff) and Labour's commitment is substantive. As to Angela, my sense is that it is sensitive. Many of her skills are outward facing and like many people who have such skills, she is an 'emotional' politician. I do not think that she would describe herself as an 'intellectual' - indeed, if someone did, I suspect that she would give them a friendly wallop! However, people like Keir Starmer, Rachel Reeves and Pat Mafadden bring a rather intellectual analysis to things including tI suspect heir role in this new 'quad' - probably they are better doing things within it and she isn better doing things outside - including challenging them Cabinet as I have no doubt she will! It strikes me as another way of getting the best results by applying decision-making in the right place and with maximum effect rather than playing to a fractious relationship if, indeed, it is any. more than people who have different but complementary skills and approach. As Gabriel and John says - this is in the context of a return to Cabinet government.

I was kind of expecting more analysis of the situation, but I will give credit the channel for at least trying to cover the topic. However it has become abundantly clear that Angela Rayner is on her way out. The direct contradiction between Starmer and Angela on key issues is publicly clear. The only question is will she go down fighting or bow out knowing the situation is already lost. Clare Short when she was minister for international development made the mistake of trying to stay the distance when Blair was directly contradicting her policy direction to the point she became totally irrelevant and by staying in post she lost all credibility making her totally ineffectual. I fear Angela is already starting to lose credibility as, like Claire Short, she is championing policy initiatives that Starmer/Reeves/Kendall have already announced (albeit indirectly) will not be happening. Angela needs to act fast if she does not want to lose credibility. She has either got to start making noises so that Starmer is forced to push her out or resign and try a put together an AOC type internal opposition - there are already seven suspend centre-left MP's to start with.
