I remember A Rayner being criticised for attending a £15 opera performance forgetting John Major introduced lottery in 1994 because Spanish were to do it under EU law. Further it was for elite funding programmes like opera and years later introduced sports.
This analysis of Labour's internal politics is not entirely correct. *So in order to see things from different perspective, let's look at the FUNDING MODEL:* During the reign of Tony Blair, Labour accepted donations from large corporations and from some super-wealthy backers. HOWEVER, prior to Blair and before Starmer, most donations were from the membership (only small amounts) but mainly from affiliated Trades Unions. Now under Starmer, donations from the Trades Unions only makes up a small percentage of the total donated, almost all of which come from wealthy backers and from large and multinational corporations. This means that Labour is now beholden to these donors - like the previous (Tory) government, in fact. The saying *'He who pays the piper calls the tune'* has never been more apt. The problem Starmer has with Rayner is that she would prefer that funding were not coming from the super-wealthy and corporate interests, because she is well aware that this will inevitably compromise Labour policies, possibly in terms of aims and objectives, but certainly in terms of pratical outcomes. It is a similar picture with NHS funding, which Rayner would prefer to come from public finance alone, but where Starmer, Reeves and Streeting want to see further private investment (ie even more covert privatization of the NHS). The reason why Dr Rosena Allyn-Khan was demoted from her previous position in the Shadow Cabinet is because like Rayner, she strongly objected to further covert and creeping privatisation of the NHS 'through the back door.' But whereas Allyn-Khan was unsupported by Trades Unions, Rayner has strong backing, making it harder for Starmer to demote her as he did Dr Rosena. It is my opinion that Starmer, who is a highly dictatorial leader, will seek an opportunity to rid himself of Rayner, who is - from his perspective - a somewhat troublesome thorn in his side. Starmer will be aided and abetted by Peter Mandelson, along with his fellow cenre-right cabal including David Evans, Luke Akehurst, Wes Streeting, Morgan McSweeney, and various other aperatchiks. For now, Rayner is protected because she is connected. For now...
This has been mentioned before with how Angela Rayner presents well at PMQs and Kid Starver is pretty twitchy when others are found to be more popular or viewed as more capable with the public than he is. Similar rumours around the Labour Candidate in Clacton, I don't trust Kid Starver, I don't think he has an original idea in his head, and will change direction at the beck and call of his money backers and lobbyists not us the electorate, and he has backtracked and lied on promises/pledges/policies repeatedly.
