Fast forward to 5 years later and after years of moving states and having no luck with women (cuz he was also probably a player), Jimmy remembers that sweet lil Joni would have turned legal by then and decides to go back to his hometown to pursue her as a "last resort" but she had already matured into a woman and outgrown her silly little crush on him by then. She tells him that in the years he was gone, she took a liking to Jimmy's cute best friend who still lived in the town (hopefully after she had turned 18) and decided to pursue him romantically as a "consolation prize". They ended up falling in love, and the rest was history - much to Jimmy's disapppointment. The end
