The thing about Kola’s gameplay is that it might look like mashing cuz hes throwing out so many moves, but if the 1st move isnt right the 2nd one is almost ALWAYS right. He’s just really good at at placing hitboxes in his opponents defensive option, and with roy being offensive monster, you see people being pressured and run down hard by Kola
I agree but it’s still mashing since Roy’s core game style revolves in that. There may be a smart way of approaching but it’s a smart mashing approach lol
He's definitely a expert in the craft that is Roy, but Roy is a masher by design. That's why it's both really fun to watch but also feels a bit "cheap" when you see it in action. Hard to punish frame data so you can throw out moves and be safe often.
@@Hellopleesh Rob has such an advantage in this mashup though when Rob only needs to hit 1 down tilt to confirm an edge guard so low risk against Roy. Kola needs all the mashing he can get lol
@@Hellopleesh Honest question. Aren't there characters that throw out hitboxes as much or much more than Roy? I'm thinking Pikachu, Ness, ZSS, Inkling, Mythra, Sheik, Little Mac, Lucina. I just don't get this criticism. Even in this match Zomba is doing two aerials every jump and landing with laser into four down tilts. It seems to me that Ultimate just prioritizes having hitboxes out over defense in general. If anything, I feel like Kola is showing an unusual amount of air dodging in this match.
it's literally mashing but with good positioning and good hit confirms, even if he misses the first hit roy is such a dumb character that allows to do a second hit near instantly, has crazy grabs into kill confirms, crazy speed and nearly no lag to punish on certain hits like nair and let's be honest any aerial, crazy range, imo a heavy as rob stands no chance.
The more I watch Kola, the better he seems to get. Humble Kola is best Kola but Aggro Kola is insane

24:04 when Kola gets more disciplined about avoiding these sorts of deaths he'll be a real contender for best in the world. He drops more early stocks than guys like ESAM, MKLeo or Spargo.

If there's a character who can pull a stupidly ridiculous comeback without a comeback mechanic (such as Waft, Arsene, One Winged Angel, ladder combos, etc), it's Roy. Even without Double Edge Dance, Roy is just that ridiculous.

This was free for Kola when he dropped games, it was from his own slip ups (which is fine, not saying that's terrible), but as for the ROB... I'm not too sure why they weren't learning from any of the games before and made so many bad plays. Staying on stage and waiting for Kola's reaction would have benefited them way more than sitting on the ledge for a desperate last hit. Anywho, congrats Kola.

Hmmm I rather watch Zomba or any other top player honestly. Roy and kola is just autopilot it was like watching mkleo play: straight autopilot . Very good snd strong but boring. I’d rather watch tweak, Dabuz, fatality, dark wizzy. Cause they play with characters that take skill in there combos and use perfect windows perfectly unlike Roy who has a forward tilt , job or side b that connects Damn near every percent over 50 for a kill and just throws out hit boxes near opponents and rely on frame data. SNOR. I’d watch a non- sword character every day over Roy or cloud. Now byleth or like corrin or Sethroth even sora can be fun to watch but not Roy, Marth, Lucia, cloud, shulk boring!
